Well it says as the title, "16 bit windows Subsystem" Descripion, "C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32AUTOEXEC.NE. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application" Can someone help me out here? Share this post Link to post

Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 21, 2005 MS-DOS wont run on WinXP. It sucks. And theres nothing you can do about it. I cant run Tie Fighter anymore. Or TD. Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted March 21, 2005 Get a DOS Emulator then - I can't give you a link myself, just Google it. Share this post Link to post

Or TD. Well I can disagree, on my friends computer(which runs XP) it worked! I was shocked... I tried to buy my friends comp for 25 dollars but he politely refused Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 22, 2005 $25 dollars?!? What is your friend stupid? Thats a fortune! :2c: Is there really a DOS emulator that works? I have an Intel®82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controler Will The DOS Emulator handle that? I used to have a DOS Box(type of emulator), and it ran horribly. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted March 22, 2005 Simply change all compatibility to windows 95 and download the xp patch. Share this post Link to post
GeneralZ 0 Posted March 22, 2005 go to EAGames support. view the answers for common questions in the RA section. One of them will provide a patch for RA to allow it to be played in XP Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 23, 2005 Simply change all compatibility to windows 95 and download the xp patch. Tried and the error came up again..... Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted March 23, 2005 I don't know if this is allowed, but admins, you can delete/edit this post if it's not allowed. check ra.afraid.org and download Full RA or Mini RA Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 24, 2005 My RA actually works without the patch. I just want a DOS emulator that works so I can play Tie Fighter and Yoda Stories again. Share this post Link to post

TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 25, 2005 Even though it will play, the missions I cannot play once I start the first 5secs of the mission, and I was playin scrimage and right when I was about to win it stoped..... It says it cannot read the memory or something. Probably cause I on XP? Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted March 25, 2005 Nope although it has some bugs (somethings the colours are screwing up) it runs fine with my xp pro edition. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 25, 2005 You can mess with the colors in the ingame menu all you want. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted March 25, 2005 That's not what I meant. Sometimes it somehow screwes up the colors, which has nothing to do with the color scheme. For example, it made the health bar blue instead of green, and when it supposed to turn red/orange, it turned purple. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 25, 2005 It doesn't screw up the colors on mine, just that memory thing. The real reason I want to play RA again is becaused I loved it and the missions are awesome and well-thought out, westwood's great creation I must say. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted March 25, 2005 Yup but I still didn't play out all missions in FullRA.... Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted March 28, 2005 Dont know what happened then. My friends FullRA download worked just fine for him. Share this post Link to post

The MS online help can help you re-make the file... after all it's just a text file. I could just attach mine here if you want. It'll fix the prob. And that's autoexec.NT, btw Share this post Link to post
