Oh Happy Day!!

I went on the net today to find that Imperium Galactica 2 that was not compatible with XP unless you changed aload of technical settings and the virtual memory... was finally patched unofficially by a small active community that fought to get it working..

 

Upon downloading the patch and reinstalling the game, I set to work instaling the unoffical .exe patches, and double clicked... I was almost in tears as my favourite RTS of all time which I have not been able to play for 4 years, executed perfectly!!!

 

I am dead happy! and I get to keep all the windows settings in tact

 

Then to top it off I realised that I can now get Imperium Galactica 3 (now called Nexus: The Jupiter incident), which was released in the UK this month... by a different developer... But who cares, the interface and everything including the code that Digital Reality created 3 years ago is still in tact!!! This has made my year straight off!!!

 

So if you have old windows executable games you fear that will never play again under XP, and the developer has seemingly abandoned the game altogether... look out for the communities.. they may just make you rejoice in retro heaven

i get the feeling i should be real happy for you and sniffling or whatever o.O; but that convo piece is kinda decending from my level of gaming to the extreme background geek detail stuff (ie; the person that turns up to a star wars convention wearing the real set costume of an alien that appeared in one scene in one movie, as well as knowing all background history on this extra the person gets irritated at you when you don't know/remember it ^^; )

I'm not an SW geek, FYI, I just want to play the games. I used to play Tie Fighter and X-Wing and Yoda stories back in the days of Win98, but I never got too far, cause I was playing RA.
