Sonic 296 Posted May 16, 2005 I recently purchased a new case for my computer, I decided I wanted something will a bit more flash so I got a Viper case with a 500W PSU. Here are a couple of photos.... Click the images above for larger versions. I couldn't capture a decent photo of the cool LCD panel though. The LCD panel show system uptime, system temp, HDD and PWR lights and anitmated Viper logo. A short video of it in action can been seen at http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/cases/mge/viper/lcd.wmv (right click and save link). I've still some work to do on it, as you see in picture 2 I need to tidy up all the cables. Share this post Link to post
WeReWoLf 0 Posted May 16, 2005 Oh MY G... that has got to be one of the most Awesome Computer Case i have yet to lay eyes on  . Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted May 16, 2005 People modify the athsetic external views of their cars, why not do it for computers... just need some big sporty subs and speakers, plus some neon lights and you've got yourself a monster.... I had a friend who has bought a Lubic (create your own) case with loads of external add ons for his case which made it look like a car.... Neons, neon cooling kit, chrome headlights at the front and rear view lights, a sub out the top, surround sound attachment, an LCD screen similar to those radios you see on car stereos with little movies, even fans with mettalic spinners on it. I even think he got a friend to make a spolier for the back... Now that's a heavily modified overkill of a case, which would make Sonic's case seem rather plain in comparison Some examples of Lubic PC casing... << Space Shuttle << Lego House << US Military Hummer Now They are Overkill Chickendippers  Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 13 Posted May 16, 2005 sweetness. No upgraded externals for me though :? Still.......total sweetness all around Share this post Link to post
GeneralZ 0 Posted May 16, 2005 a bit flashy on the eyes.... i dont like the special custom cases though i prefer the strong and solid rectangluar prism Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted May 17, 2005 Can you say overkill? I wouldn't say that, at first I thought it was a bit gimmicky (is that even a word?) but I searched around, read 5 or 6 reviews and everytime I saw pictures of it I started to like it more and more. Its got a bigger PSU so thats a plus, and its do a better job of keep things cool than my old case did. Like I said before I wanted something different, I'm happy and thats what important. A PC case, a new car... even something like new shoes.... its all matter of personl preference. Have a look the MGE XGBOX website at http://www.xgbox.com/, they have something interesting looking cases. I was also looking at this one called the Sidewinder but the colours I wanted aren't available.... Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted May 17, 2005 Awesome Sonic, 500W  I got 400, which is good enough for my computer Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted May 19, 2005 Cool I suppose... But its all a little overboard... Kinda like people and their cars... Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted May 19, 2005 hehe, yeah seriously luk3us. Some of those cars.... sheesh ...but hey, random question: I've added quite a bit to my computer, including a new high end video card, sound card, ton of usb devices, etc... what kind of symptoms would a computer with an underpowered psu have? I have reason to believe that it explains some hardware problems I've been having recently Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted May 19, 2005 but hey, random question: I've added quite a bit to my computer, including a new high end video card, sound card, ton of usb devices, etc... what kind of symptoms would a computer with an underpowered psu have? I have reason to believe that it explains some hardware problems I've been having recently Firstly what is the wattage of your PSU, 350w, 400w? Do you know what brand? If your system randomly restarts under load its a sign there isn't enough power being supplied to all the important devices. High end video cards will suck up the juice. However you don't necessarily need a huge PSU, just a good quality one. For me I wouldn't consider having anything less than a 400w PSU. When I was putting my system back together the other day I never realised how many extra things needed power connected to them, there are the usual things like hard drives, DVD/CD drives, but now we have the extra power connection for CPU's, molex connections for video cards, case fans, my Viper case needs another molex connector for the LCD panel and Viper logo on the front.
