How did you find CNCNZ?

Recommended Posts

Guest Rabbit

I thought this would be an interesting thing to talk about...

1. How long have you been around? (Including the sites that evolved into CNCNZ)

2. How did you find it? Did a friend show you? A search site? An affiliate?

3. What's your favorite memory here?

I figure I'll start, cause it would only make sense :P

I have been around for a few months, posting away happily, and I'm a regular here. I found CNCNZ through TibEd actually! I wanted to figure out how to make maps, and somehow I found tibed. Thanks Koen.

My favorite memory is being banned temporarily. It was only for a day, but, it sure showed me!

3. After 8 years its hard to remember everything. But interacting with all the fans has always been a good thing for me. I've made so many new friends since starting this site.

2. Oh, a little bit of this and that, cool (in some way)...

3. Too much to choose from... Was it that big debate with the Overlord being a Mammoth tank's relative? Or Masked Shah's posts? Madbadger's antics? Really, there hasn't been a dull moment here at CNCNZ...

:haha:

Oh man, okay.

1) I've been here since 16th April 2005. Still a newbie I guess.

2) I found CNCNZ.com through the Den websites.

3) Oh yes, I remember the "Can the Overlord Tank be considered a Mammoth Tank?" debate. I also remember the "Overlord's Bigger Brother" thread. Which, I think, is what sparked off the debate in the first place! :D

Also, finding out that Mr_Lee_ and I share the same last name. :haha: What are the odds of that?!

Another memory would have to have been when Mina Synd and I got told off by King and a couple of other people here for spamming a little. :P

But I think the best memory was when I was made an article writer here. Heh, sure my articles aren't the best (Mr_Lee's are definatly better than mine) but hey this was, and still is, a good oppourtunity to test my skills as a writer. Which I believe will help me alot in future.

A funny story behind me becoming an article writer: What I sent in to King so he could judge as to whether or not I was a good enough writer for the site, I originally submitted to the Final Fantasy VII Citadel as fanfiction. The funny thing is? They rejected it, whereas it got me the article writer's position here. :haha: Gotta those love ironic twists of fate eh?

1) I joined about 6 months ago I think

2) Found it through the DEN games networks.

3) My favourite memory? I have 3

- Becoming an article writer.

- Making Acerz my bitch...finding out I had the same last name as him.

- Writing 'The Real Red Alert' at 2 in the morning while King is writing his own email to Aaron Kaufman. i felt like I'd finally accomplished something.

I'm generally happy about the way the community has acknowledged myself (and Acerz) as article writers and I'm sure that sooner, rather than later (with some help from the Hypnotist) CNCNZ will become acknowledged as having the best article writers in the Community.

I'm also hoping soon, my campaign conversion for Generlas/ZH will get underway and we'll all be playing them.

I also remember something else, being scared of Sonic and the King. I'm sure some people on here think at times I'm a pedantic bastard, but I don't really care, I'll continue complaining about what I think needs complaining about, and bringing the community with alternative views of things C&C related (and hopefyully EaW related).

Making Acerz my bitch

 :haha: Sorry to dissapoint you dude, but I'm no-one's bitch. But enough of that, don't upset a potentially good thread. :P

1) From the date and time of this post I have been around visiting CNCNZ for 7 years, 340 days, 22 hours and 58 minutes....

It was the start a lunchtime at school I found Sonic's site on November 18th 1997, that's how I can remember it exactly

2) Now that I can remember, I was searching for stuff on Red Alert, and got the "Original Red Alert Zone" come up on the search page.. The rest is History.

3) Favorite Memories.. OK let's reel them off (in no particular order)

  • Drunken Stupor Forum Thread, undoubtably the best thread ever to grace the forums.

[*] The legendary 2000: Sonic Vs Rogue Leader posting spree. It wasn't a race, but the forum members at the time thought it was since they were consistantly neck and neck in posts..

[*] Becoming a member of staff back in May 2000.

[*] Losing my staff membership several times and returning several times in the space of 3 months. (In hindsight, I find it amusing)

[*] Becoming Webmaster in November 2004.

[*] But the biggest is perhaps visiting a site and webmaster that I have stood by for almost 8 years now, and used as the primary resource for C&C news, it has to be Sonic & CNCNZ.com :D

Beside events memories of this Community are strong. The Westwood and especially the pre-Red Alert 2 days were definately a great time to be around. Aaron as good as he is is no match for the likes of Chris Rubyor and Ted Morris who in my eyes kept this community pumping. Even in the quiet periods, they'd be updating us with something. Today however, it's too much to ask for.

I'd also like to extend my gratitude to Sonic's original and best Co-webmaster, Viper who did a hell of a lot to help Sonic create CNCNZ what it is today. Although I may be in Viper's shoes now, I know I will probably not get as close to being what Viper was to this site, he did a truemendous job, and that should be known.

Don't forget about GenKiller either. He has done so much work that no one sees. Lots of behind the scene boring stuff like uploading files from backups. GenKiller did around 95% of the uploading when we made the jump from Gaming Source to Freedom Studios.

1. May 2004 I think. Not sure, I don't remember dates very well.

2. After I had enough of the MMORPG Arcanum, I Googled Command and Conquer, and found this site. I had played C&C since the original, and I liked it a lot. I actually found the Den first, but I thought it was too big and I didn't like it.

3. Hmmmm, that's a tough one. Probably helping J-Fire_Man and thinking my horrible maps were the best ever.

Wait, I know a better one. Tree's Weekly Contests. I'm not sure what number I got up to. I think it was 14 or so. Those were good times. Until I had to actually make the prizes for people. ;)

Another one, the Flamerz forum, and immeyournot, and others go at it. Good times, good times.
