Cygnus X-1 12 Posted November 23, 2005 [English] any Rap is not music, neither are its ripper-offers-of-other-music "artists" actually artists. And getting shot over some stupid gang fight is not something to be proud of. Rap is like the Backstreet Boys: Famous and fabulous now, but it will die out in a few years. unlike real music. Rock will never die. Classical music IS the deffinition of music. Adn the all American Jazz can only grow stronger. Rap jsut does not qualify as music. people get older and realise "Hmm, these rappers have no respect for themselves, otheres, and especially none for women, just listen to what they are "sinigng", its horrible"[/English/anti-rap] Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted November 23, 2005 Finally! Someone sums it up in a nice, small post for those small-minded people who still believe Rap is a form of a music. I applaud thee! Share this post Link to post

SoulJa 0 Posted November 24, 2005 so then.... just 'splain wtf r'n'b is #1 selling type of music? Rap is here to stay face it and just stop listening to rock/metal cr4p. As a good lady friend said God metals crap all that headbanging BS. WTF they say raps violent havent they heard metal? that ****s crazy Also tonight theres a show on about how metal has influenced people to go round comiting satanic rituals on peeps. cant say i remember last time me and my boys went and killed a virgin for no point. BWare 0 Posted November 24, 2005  You've just fed yourself to the sharks here dude. Besides... have you been to Los Angeles, Detroit, or any other major city in the US? Most rap is an absolutely horrible influence, with real world consequences. The stuff is garbage, anyway... just because the idiot masses love it doesn't make it legitimate music. I don't know anyone who's been killed in a satanic sacrifice (), but I know plenty of people who have been victims of gang violence... the same kind of garbage spewed by those animals rapping. Don't you dare tell me that rock is a worse influence. It's demonstratably untrue. So to sum things up... rap is complete garbage musically (a mind-numbing 4-4 beat that goes nowhere with a few cartoon sound effects for good measure ), and it does little but glorify gang violence, drug abuse, and extreme disrespect for women. You know, the thug life . And Luk3us... just because people want to like it doesn't make it automatically a good thing  Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted November 24, 2005 Also tonight theres a show on about how metal has influenced people to go round comiting satanic rituals on peeps. Right-o Do you believe T.V. just like you believe that rap is a legitimate form of music? The people who do these silly things are just loners looking for attention, they are the dregs of human society, much like wannabe rappers! It's not the music, it's the fact that they have no life. So to sum things up... rap is complete garbage musically (a mind-numbing 4-4 beat that goes nowhere with a few cartoon sound effects for good measure ), and it does little but glorify gang violence, drug abuse, and extreme disrespect for women. You know, the thug life . BWare is absolutly right here. cant say i remember last time me and my boys went and killed a virgin for no point. Just because you and your group of idiots haven't done it, dosen't mean to say other people won't. so then.... just 'splain wtf r'n'b is #1 selling type of music? Because it appeals to the retards of society. Besides, it's not the #1 selling type of music of all time. Rap is here to stay face it and just stop listening to rock/metal cr4p. It'll die out eventually. See, Rap is performed (I use this term loosly here) by people who have no grasp whatsoever of the English Language. Therefore, they have no understanding of the term, 'vocal talent', which is something the majority of rock/metal bands have. As a good lady friend said God metals crap all that headbanging BS. WTF they say raps violent havent they heard metal? that s***s crazy She is misinformed, I'm sorry to say. Besides, headbanging is ten times better than looking like a fish out of water while dancing to Rap/R'n'B'. This topic has been exhausted. [/end rant] Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 25, 2005 And Luk3us... just because people want to like it doesn't make it automatically a good thing  Never said it was. I just get pissed off everytime someone comes along with a different view you guys have to go bitch and moan at them for liking rap. Its just annoying.... Share this post Link to post

rEdaSbLood 1 Posted November 26, 2005 Cygnus has a valid point. Have you heard any of the underground rap though? There is more than gangster rap out there. I agree that the mainstream rap music from 50 cent and the rest does not actually qualify as rap, BUT there are many other rap artist that make good music with poetry and melody along with rhythm. I am surprised that all of you speak out of ignorance. Share this post Link to post

I just get pissed off everytime someone comes along with a different view you guys have to go bitch and moan at them for liking rap. Its just annoying.... he is right. To each his own. Acerz said See, Rap is performed (I use this term loosly here) by people who have no grasp whatsoever of the English Language as i once said, this is being said in ignorance. i don't criticizen rock or metal because i haven't heard all the artists in it's spectrum. YOU GUYS CRITICIZE RAP ONLY BASED ON MAINSTREAM! Also, none of you give valid examples of all your claims. so please next time you criticize something, do as you always do and use examples that range from the obvious to the less obvious. BWare 0 Posted November 26, 2005 This is a forum dude... do you expect an exhaustive analysis? Plus, the burden of proof is on you to defend..... so have at it! You've got your work cut out for you  Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted November 27, 2005 as i once said, this is being said in ignorance. i don't criticizen rock or metal because i haven't heard all the artists in it's spectrum. YOU GUYS CRITICIZE RAP ONLY BASED ON MAINSTREAM! Um, no I don't. I don't criticize Rap solely on mainstream. I've listened to many a variaty of Rap/R'n'B artists, and from what I've heard, it's all crap. Half of the stuff I've listened to isn't mainstream. I'm not saying I've heard every single artist, but I have heard enough to make me hate it with every fiber in my body. Also, none of you give valid examples of all your claims. so please next time you criticize something, do as you always do and use examples that range from the obvious to the less obvious. Excuse me? The reasons we give are perfectly valid. Rap/R'n'B is made up of gibberish: unintelligeable vocals and beats that are made up of pre-set scores in an electronic keyboard. There is no talent involved. All they have to do is spew forth anything, hope it makes sense, and let the crappy beat mix it up to make it seem like there was some effort involved into making it. And that's just the music side of things, don't get me started on the artists themselves. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted November 27, 2005 Music, is based upon what is called "ART". This art is thus created with things that people call instruments. Thus music such as Metal, Rock, Jazz, and even classical musics can be placed within the laws and confinds of what lovers of these Genre's call REAL MUSIC! Pop, R'n'B, Rap, Hip Hop, Drum n Bass, etc.. are defined as crap (or if you prefer to be a part of the "so-called" democratic brigade of Political Correctness) Illigitimate muisc. This crap is not created from the hands and mouths of musicians who play splendedly crafted pieces of metal, wood, and other materials. They are made purely by PC software and borrowed samples, or scratching records of other people's material all the time. This is not done by talent. It's all Manufactured!! Even the vocals are crap in such manufactured genre's of music. Rap and all that crap is just talking, or plummeling along to a loosely and poorly made tune, with attempts to rhyme as many times in that particular track.. I dare not use song, cos they aren't. Pop music is the same, you don't have to sing, you just have to stand there looking like a Nonce singing about your life in a blatent attempt to attract as many 6-16 year olds as you can. Vocals in music such as rock and Metal, are not all about shouting uncontrollably down a microphone screaming that the whole world hates you. It also has nothing to do with the fact that you wanna burn those void 6-16 year olds as part of a Satanistic ritual. Although it wouldn't be a bad thing, and we could throw the rap listeners into the pyre as well. Most (in fact almost all) rock and metal is actually very melodic. It is created from passion, from the heart. It starts off on paper in forms of musical playing styles and lyrics, to trying out different chords and riffs, recording them Raw, before playing back, extracting the good bits and adding it all together to create a great piece of work. Good artists will take 2 maybe 3 years to create an album... it seems to me like rapper's new albums are out every 6-10 months... spouting more profanity about doing drive-bys, shooting down ya best mate for the fun of it... I'm not being biased from what I've said here either. I have sampled every form of music out there. Yes I've listened to pop and used to like it, yes I've listened to Rap and used to like it... I've been through all of it. But if there is one set of music genre I keep coming back to it's rock and metal... purely because it's music that has a backbone, written from nothing, developed from nothing, and produced into something that's entertaining and has true meaning. And what do I see in the rock world? Bands joining together in their success in the form of celebrating their talents, we have young heavy metal drummers playing for legendary bands, legends playing alongside their younger counterparts... and in the end, they're in the bar drinking and chatting like friends. Now compare that to rap. After playing a concert, they all get outside, unload the guns from their trunks, and decide to have massive gun fights... those who get away get a "cap in their ass" in the form of a drive by or two. And when they are laying their in the street dying, the inspiration comes flowing to their heads like "hey s**t my homie, when I get outta da joint all patched up, I'll write a whole rap album based on this drive-by... that s**t is slamming!" Then they either die before they get the chance, or end up in the studio the next day rapping that they've been shot 9 times and how they are gonna shoot "da homie" who busted a few bullets in his ass.. Oh please!! Share this post Link to post

Cygnus X-1 12 Posted November 27, 2005 You know, if my internet wasnt off on vaction somewhere, i could have had this in sooner. anyway, here goes from like 14 hours ago-- It'll die out eventually. See, Rap is performed (I use this term loosly here) by people who have no grasp whatsoever of the English Language. Therefore, they have no understanding of the term, 'vocal talent', which is something the majority of rock/metal bands have. ah, silver bullet number 2 Rappers (notice how that looks suspiciously like rapers) can hardly speak english. Not only that, they use those ridulous hand gestures that make htem look like they are having a fit or something, plus the way they dress. Look at how you yourself type Soulja (not a slam) just reflects how you are influenced by this "Pop fad" called Rap. and from a musician's standpoint, Rap realy is shiit. There is no musical talent required for it, neither is ther any vocal talent required for it. Proof? Turn up your stereo on the street, and look at how many people can rap just as well as whoever you are listening to on the radio. Yeah, of everyone can do it, then it aint so special. and finally look at the content. Yes there are some rock and metal songs that focus on drugs and rap and sex and killing, but EVERY SINGLE RAP SONG FOCUSES ON THAT CR4P !!. And rap may be the highest selling at the moment, however seeing as how Rock is over 50 years old, it has definetly outsold rap a hundred fold over again. Share this post Link to post

You know, it's really too bad... there used to actually be someting pretty unique and novel to rap. If you listen to the really old stuff (circa 1980s), there was actually some skill involved, and the subject matter was never that bad. The whole genre has been hijacked by these talentless, subhuman animals that we hear now... and morons continue to listen, and in some cases, emulate  Share this post Link to post
