Guest Rabbit Posted December 26, 2005 Ok, so it's not as good as I though... sue me. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted December 26, 2005 Its fine, once you double the ram and drop in a decent video card it will be good. Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted December 26, 2005 It's a great machine - I'm thinking there is a WD Raptor as the main HD in there, which kicks ass. And it's a top-quality mainboard with an Intel chipset. 512MB is enough for most games today, but in the future more never hurts. The only thing it lacks is a dedicated video card to play 3D games like Generals. I'm not sure if this on-board one will work there. Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted December 26, 2005 Ok I'll make what I think is a pretty medium/good comp for games of today CPU: 2.6ghz or higher RAM: 1GB HD: 80GB or higher Vidcard: Ati 9600pro/Nvidia 5900 or higher. Audio: 2.1, but prefferably 5.1 (is not expensive nowadays) Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted December 26, 2005 How much do you think it would cost for 1gb ram and a good video card? Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted December 27, 2005 I already got 1GB and it aint enough lol, upgrading to 2GB soon lol, do you really need MS word to load up a whole half second faster than usual? Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted December 27, 2005 How much do you think it would cost for 1gb ram and a good video card? About 100 dollars for a good dual channel thing of RAM(1GB... 512MBx2) Maybe 100-300 for a video card. I would recommend a nVidia GeForce 6800 or higher... Also, you need to know if you have PCI, AGP 8x or 4x or 2x, or PCI-E. Share this post Link to post

Audio: 2.1, but prefferably 5.1 (is not expensive nowadays) That's more or less the same as my computer. I'm going to be upgrading the video card and I'll either put another 512 or 1GB RAM card in soon. I may need to upgrade the processor as well (mine's a 2.8 GHZ AMD Athlon, any suggestions?). BWare 0 Posted February 16, 2006 UPGRADE TIME! While I much prefer NVidia, the new ATI X1900 is just demolishing the 7800 GTX 512 in the benchmarks, so... I'm getting one of those That, and I'm swapping out my mobo with a new Asus nForce4 board, a 650 watt PSU, a new AMD 4000 San Diego core CPU, and my 2 sticks of RAM (1 gb a piece) now actually in dual channel. Yes, it will own. By the way, I have a question... has anyone had any experience with Rosewill PSUs? I'm unfamiliar with the name, but the item I'm looking at has gotten great reviews on newegg, so I assume it's fine. I just know how important quality PSUs can be. Also, how important is PFC in a power supply? If you've got a really good battery backup/surge protector, does it really matter? Thanks. Share this post Link to post
Tree 0 Posted February 16, 2006 I'm getting a freakin awesome HP with Intel's new VIIV processor soon. It's going to be amazing. Share this post Link to post
