Doctor Destiny 41 Posted March 2, 2006 Family Guy... without question. It pushes the bar on so many episodes and the humor is unparalleled. Last night's episode on [adult swim] is one of the best ever created. "PTV" is not only hilarious but has a great political point as well. Yes indeed, Family Guy is great. TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 2, 2006 The older Simpsons pwns Family Guy, but the newer ones don't. But I still love The Simpsons. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 2, 2006 Simpsons I mean they're been around for ages... Family guy is great. But sometimes its a bit over the top. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I don't think there's any question that the Simpsons reigns supreme. It has set the bar for every show like it, and all these new shows are essentially imitations of it, ESPECIALLY Family Guy. They're bordering on plagiarism! "Pushing the limits" isn't really accomplishing much, to be honest, and that little extra bit of profanity or whatever will only go so far in making you legitimately funny. Remember that the Simpsons was once accused of being too extreme back in the day, even more so than Family Guy is now  Family guy is hysterical and is one of the best out there, but nothing can touch the Simpsons. Everything Family Guy is doing now has already been done better by the Simpsons. Share this post Link to post
dw6xl 0 Posted March 3, 2006 i myself would have tosay family guy because when family guy first came out (i think in the 90s) i began watching that more than the simpsons Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 3, 2006 Should of add South Park as well. 1. Simpsons 2. South Park 3. Futurama 4. Family Guy 5. Robot Chicken Also, my signature quote is from The Simpsons. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted March 3, 2006 yeah theres no other cartoon character that comes close to Homer. I like many of the new simpsons episodes although a few arent as good. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted March 3, 2006 yeah theres no other cartoon character that comes close to Homer. I like many of the new simpsons episodes although a few arent as good. Yeah, the quality has been falling off a bit... but still, quite a few this season have been absolutely hysterical, while others just miss horribly. The one that aired last Sunday- the My Fair Lady parody- was just miserably bad. Share this post Link to post
Masked Shah 5 Posted March 3, 2006 I like both. But I voted Simpsons, because they are the original deal... Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted March 3, 2006 yea simpsons are original... but family guy is measuring up well.....did you see those links i gave in the other topic of family guy!? LMAO if i was simpsons maker i'd b sorta proud of family guy... robot chicken is really funny too..lol Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted March 3, 2006 Should of add South Park as well South Park is stupid. There is nothing funny about it. Share this post Link to post
Guest MadBadger Posted March 3, 2006 i didnt even have to think before going FG. FG owns Simpsons so easily at the moment. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted March 3, 2006 South Park is stupid. There is nothing funny about it. Are you out of your mind? South Park is great. It's political, which is great since every episode has something recent in it excpet for the first season. Hey, if my mom can get a kick out of SP, anyone can. Share this post Link to post
Masked Shah 5 Posted March 3, 2006 South Park is like a drunk cocky 16yr old who likes to insult everyone in the room. I like it. I think I meantioned this to someone already... Share this post Link to post
RKCoon 0 Posted March 3, 2006 Me i say Family Guy. it acutally used SOME intellect and common sence, where as simpsons is a classic case of neve using any at all. (which would explain its popularity ) and South Park? started out pretty funny but after a while it just lost its appeal, ie got too damned stupid as well. But then, this is fro mthe guy that watches Hogans Heroes, MASH and virtually any Star Trek save for that blasphemy Enterprise. so you be the judge Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted March 4, 2006 Me i say Family Guy. it acutally used SOME intellect and common sence, where as simpsons is a classic case of neve using any at all. Oh no way man... you have to be kidding me! Family Guy is stupid humor at its worst. It can be downright hilarious, but the Simpsons is actually a satire on society that can be incredibly brilliant at times. From an intellectual point of view, Family Guy doesn't even come CLOSE to touching the Simpsons. Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted March 4, 2006 BWare..in the sense that you described simpsons..i think family guy comes close...close enough for me... i just find FG more ammusing and funny...but thats just me... south park is political and stupid...which is funny.. who ever said stupidity couldnt be funny? Doctor Destiny 41 Posted March 5, 2006 Family Guy is stupid humor at its worst. It can be downright hilarious, but the Simpsons is actually a satire on society that can be incredibly brilliant at times. From an intellectual point of view, Family Guy doesn't even come CLOSE to touching the Simpsons. Family Guy is stupid humor at its finest. Never have I seen another show come close to weaving the humor and satire that Family Guy does. Besides, it's all about the juvenile humor. And I do so love their references. A-Team... CLASSIC! Actually, you can't tell me that the episode "PTV" isn't a huge joke about the FCC and their neurotic mindset, can you? :| The Simpsons is a family program so you don't see the same dirty humor. Not to say it's not good cause I love The Simpsons and have for years. However, lately, it hasn't had the same punch it once had... Oh well, Homer is still a riot. heh. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Very true Fenring. I completely agree, actually. My point is just that Family Guy is in fact juvenile humor, which just isn't as difficult to pull off. It's simpler humor. That's not to say that it isn't one of the funniest shows out there (I own all the dvds ), but it just can't touch the genius of the Simpsons. Oh, and the Simpsons is a "family program?" You do know that it's one of the most controversial shows ever made, right? Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted March 5, 2006 You do know that it's one of the most controversial shows ever made, right? Maybe due to its origin but I would hardly call it controversial. What's so "controversial" about it? That it shows reality in a magnified perspective? If "The Simpsons" is controversial, then what's Family Guy? Levels beyond that? o_0 Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Maybe due to its origin but I would hardly call it controversial. I wouldn't say it is now, but it definitely was when it was first created. It was far more edgy then than Family Guy is now. The shock factor thing has kinda been done to death at this point... Share this post Link to post
