Luk3us 63 Posted April 3, 2006 Well if you're unlucky enough to be American that is... j/k... Anyway its a rather cool little diagram. And for a limited time offer clicking it makes it bigger! (Actually very big 1.8mb.. ) Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted April 3, 2006 Whoah, that is pretty cool. Good find luk3us! Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 3, 2006 Still a superpower, we are. Spend all our money in the military, as usual. The president cuts taxes while raising the budget. And national debt to over 8.3 trillion USD 8) Ah, nothing like living in the USA. Share this post Link to post
Acerz492 1 Posted April 3, 2006 That's absolutlely brilliant Luk3us. Think you could find one for New Zealand for comparison? Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 4, 2006 No offense Acerz, but I bet I could do NZs budget on one hand  (jk) Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 4, 2006 Speaking of tax dollars, Australia just ordered/acquired a bunch of F-18 Superhornets from Europe (used). The Europeans are replacing thiers with Rafales and Typhoons lately, so they have "no use" for F-18 Superhornets. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 13 Posted April 5, 2006 Wow do you have a link to info about this? Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted April 5, 2006 The UK is considering selling some of its older Hardware it's bought from the USA over the years to other commonwealth countries at a discount price because the ministary of defense has found that US Hardware is "unfit for the defense of the nation"... In other words the design and function of the Hardware is of poor construction and engineering. Unrelated to this, The UK bought something like over 25 brand new AH-64 Apache's from the US militrary a few years ago and because of the above reasons, all have already been modified, stripped and replaced with higher quality British Engineered parts. The UK has also had Augusta Westland create 45 British made Apache's. But due to the Boeing blue-prints given to the UK, there have been problems with the Rocket pods, Tail Rotors and just a week ago, a machine gun jammed and snapped off from the helicopter during a training excercise. Improvements and further modifications are now being made. But in my opinion the Apache is an embarrasement and a waste of money to this nation, and it's easy to see why! Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted April 5, 2006 You Brits are great eingeers but.... You guys suck at the wiring. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 6, 2006 You know, our export quality Apaches still pwn any other assault heli out there. If we dont have problems with our hardware, yet you do....must be the mechanics  Poor quality and engineering, eh? I'd sure like to see a Euro Fighter (F-18 Class) stand up to anything modern in our arsenal. Afterall, if our stuff is of "poor engineering and quality" then surely it cannot possibly dominate in combat, correct? The fact that we sold them off may say something to you. WE DIDNT WANT THEM  (jk) Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 13 Posted April 6, 2006 Yeah Australia is begining to rely less on US equipment. Most of our new contracts have either gone to Australian companies or EADS. The JSF and the Hornet Refit programs are the only real exceptions. The Abrahms are being modified and refit to bring them to Australian standards. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 6, 2006 everyone who buys export equipment then has to modify them to their own standards. Its not a sign of weak engineering folks, its how they are designed. Exprt quality vehicles arent "topped off" because the people who buy them dont neccessarily want their equip to match US hardware to every last detail. As for the guns jamming-I doubt it was straightforeward engineering issues. Considering our guns dont jam when we use them  Share this post Link to post
Hitman079 0 Posted April 19, 2006 benjamin franklin once said "Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. " i don't know if someone else quoted that, i don't care. you know, something relatively cheap (an Abrams Tank) is $2 million. an AT-4 (ugh, it's a BAZOOKA) <[i hate that word now] costs $1480. Hitman079 0 Posted April 19, 2006 all this spending on military goes to show: the US has the most fearsome army on earth (israel comes in second) Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted April 19, 2006 In terms of "fearsomeness" (probably not a word ), yeah I'd agree. Israel is, man for man, probably one of the fiercest and most effective militaries in history. The USA, being the most powerful military in history, is fearsome because of its sheer power. Share this post Link to post
F15pilotX 4 Posted April 20, 2006 That's absolutlely brilliant Luk3us. Think you could find one for New Zealand for comparison? Or France for that matter  probably...10% military...pacifists jk Share this post Link to post
Hitman079 0 Posted April 20, 2006 i'm sorry for the irrevelant posts i-er..posted. i felt stupid because i didn't really get the chart (it was so big i didn't bother to read it) and i just know that we have the best military on earth. i think 2 days after israel was created (became an official nation), surrounding countries attacked it immediately. israel still won Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 20, 2006 In testimony to the shear determination of Israel... the Yom Kipur war, so called because surrounding nations attacking on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kipur. This prevented Israeli forces from returning fire for a whole friggin day. Know what happened the next day? Several of the surrounding nations surrendured to Israel over lunch break. The F-15 has yet to be shot down in combat, and Israeli pilots are flying these babies every day of the week, and in several wars. Most that ever happened to an F-15 was an Israeli one lost its right wing and one of its 2 tail planes. Still flew back to base and landed. The pilot, who had a concussion, couldnt tell the diff between flying with a brand new plane or the half of a plane that he had to bring back in a land. Oh, and Israel still stands today, despite constant warefare from surrounding neighbors for 57 straight years since it became a soveriegn nation. And now, to think of the threat they face with Iran going Nuclear (I dont want to hear any EU or UN bull****ness about Iran not going militarily nuclear. You dont burry a "powerplant" under thousands of tons of concrete and steel bunkering to create power for a few cities.) Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted April 21, 2006 Very true Cygnus. The Israeli army is an unbelievable fighting force... that and their Muslim neighbors are just laughably incompetent. I wonder if they ignore the iron sights and shoot their AKs over their heads like in those terrorist videos  And yes, I am very worried about the future conflict between Israel and Iran, and us in between. Lord knows that if Iran does get a nuke, and if they are stupid enough to use it on an Israeli city... Iran will be a parking lot overnight. Make no mistake about it- Israel will not hesitate to use their nukes. Shortly after that, we will have World War III. I wonder if a preemptive strike with bunker buster nukes is the best answer.... because frankly it really looks like it. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 22, 2006 Pre-emptive strikes are 99% of the time better than the alternative. Unless your a democratic-anticapitalist Bush hater. Iran has threatened that if the US "attempts" to stop them, that they will delve into weapons reasearch. If we so much as "attempt" to stop them, they will be stopped. The B2 and the F-22 are completely invisible to any type of radar on the planet (even our own field units). Iran would have no way of knowing that it was us. After all, whos to say no one else has supersonic or stealth bombers? And I fail to see how Iran plans to stop the EU, UN, and US from stopping them once they go Nulcear. If they think that a single strike against Israel will, they are gravely mistaken. Now that may sound like a militaristic point of view, but Im sick of other nations and people within the US going on about how weak we have become. We need to step in, take no orders, no prisoners (ok maybe a few) and just blast the hell out of people who defy UN charters, threaten our allies, or put the free world at risk. If Iran attempts to go Nuclear, I say just blast the crap out of them. We have the firepower, so no holding back. Obviously theres no need to nuke them (unless its tactical bunkerbusters ect). We have the man power, the weapons power, and no one in their right mind will try to stop us from brining down Iran when they attempt to aquire Nuclear weapons. The problem is the administration wont do it. They are afriad of other countries giving us a bad rep, and they are too concerned with looking good for re-election or looking good so their cousin ect can get in the next election. And the other party is always concerned about bringin the current party power holder down, instead of being concerned about hte real issues at hand, such as Iran, or China threatening Canada to back off the spy claims. What we should have is a single term per person, but make it 6 years. That way they dont have to worry about relection (how much time is spent on that instead of running the country?) and they have enough time to realy implement their policies. Oh, and if Iran should turn into somthing like Iraq (insurgents ect) then I say no mercy. Sure its cold hearted, but we are dealing with cold hearted killers, and have been for years. If they wont listen to reason, then they can sure listen to gun barrels and bullets. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"-Ghandi. So in effect, what I say goes against all that he worked for. I would like to see his priniciples work with the jihad fanatics. Guess what? IT WONT. Its being tried with all kinds of peace corps. And instead of results, they get heads nad bodies left in the streets. People are being abducted, not listened to. You cant abduct a tank or a shell as it whistles into that bunker. TheBlackOut 7 Posted April 23, 2006 Ohh how I wish we could know who's an innocent person in the middle east, take them somewhere away, then nuke the hell out of the Middle East, but since we can't, Cy's idea will work. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 14 Posted April 23, 2006 its simple. Give Firestorm walls to Israel, leave them down for 3 days, tell the mid east if they arent friendly there will be hell to pay, then boom boom. Radioactive oil will force people to use hydrogen cars too  Share this post Link to post
