Er... Deleted Posts?

Is it me, or did my most recent posts get deleted? Does this happen often?

Maybe we didn't like your posts.

*cough* Anyway... there are times when the server chokes and your post_data doesn't go through or maybe there was an issue with the SQL and the database had to be restored... there's several reasons but I can't be sure of any unless Sonic says something.

It'll usually happen when you decide to reply to messages made by bots. You have done this a few times afterall. After banning, deleting, or doing what we have to with these bots, we will usually delete their posts. If there are any replies to the post in question, that doesn't fall within topic, they are usually deleted as well to keep the flow of conversation in check. Hence why people's post count does slide backwards sometimes.

Well, I mean, I replied in a thread with the halogen petition, in the hurt heal, and in two of the webmaster blogs and the posts got deleted =/ No bots included. It was on topic.

Not my doing. If Sonic or Beowulf haven't deleted these, due to your love affair with sometimes swearing heavily in posts, then there are only 3 minutely possible explanations to my knowledge.

 

1) If the forums have been upgraded (which they haven't to my knowledge in recent weeks) There is a slight possibility of some loss of Data. But that possibility is so minute, I hardly even begin to support this claim myself.

 

2) Re-installed forum back-up. If these forums have gone down over the course of recent days, there's a possibility we may have had to revert to a backup. Although there have been no reports and even our background staff haven't come to myself or Sonic regarding any re-instated back-ups so this is also unlikely.

 

3) Forum bugs could also be a cause. Although I doubt this too since the forum version we are currently on is quite solid.

 

To be so specific as to target just yourself seems somewhat mysterious. There are no profile settings that would cause this, and anything technical just seems out of the question. It must be a moderation problem in my opinion.

Well, I do have the tendency to swear at times, but I know in this case I hadn't done so.

 

When I originally asked "Does this happen often?" I did not mean to myself, I meant in general, to people, so, I wasn't targeting myself in any way... just curious to know why it happens or something along the lines of that. I was, in a sense trying to see if it had been happening to other people, because, there are times when valid, non spam, non excessive swearing posts just randomly get deleted, and I don't know why.

I haven't been deleting any posts, only the annoying spammer accounts and spam crap.

 

Forum bugs? possible but why would it only affect one user? There have been no reports from anyone else about this.

 

I haven't done any upgrades to the forums behind the scenes either. In the event that forum software upgrades do happen I never mention or announce them, I just do them and the forums continue to function as normal.

 

Haven't restored back up these forums at all. The last back up restored was when we moved to Freedom from Gaming Source last year.

Happened to me 2 weeks ago. I got over 7K (wewt) and then the next day I was down about 20 posts.

 

Course, this is nothing compared to loosing 300 when WR was shut down, but it doest actualy matter.

 

What really matters is that Revora has been hacked, and CNCNZ is included on that. :x

I believe that phpBB updates counters nightly via a cron job. That being said, counters can get off due to a number or reasons during the day. Also, as Fen said, your POST data could not have been properly passed, therefore the main $_POST array that phpBB uses wasn't updated correctly.

But this shouldnt be a continuing problem should it? Out of some slight concern for the forums here, if it continually bumps a person back every 2 weeks or so (as keeps happeneing to me) isnt that bad?

any who the biggest amount of post that i lost was when the RA3 forum got taken down it wiped me down to like 30 post, lol oh well i dont care i post alot anyway

That was probably due to me deleting all the posts in the old C&C10 forum. That forum was renamed and turned into the CNCNZ Frontpage News forum.

No indeed. But its still annoying. If you count the deletion of WR forums and a few other small inconsistencies here, I should be nearer to 7500, not 7005. Its just a triffle annoying.

 

But of course, its not a race (as per ye old rules) :wink:
