New C&C FPS Rumored

A news item posted at Media Feet over the weekend hints that a possible Command & Conquer First Person Shooter game could be the next game developed by EALA. Speculation is high that a sequel to 2002's C&C Renegade will be in production, it may even be powered by the impressive Crysis engine. Here is the report:

 

In a recent internal meeting at EALA on February 23rd, 2007, it was announced to the project team leaders of all EALA projects that the Crysis engine would be moving in-house in the very near future. Speculation began to arise internally about a Command and Conquer Renegade sequel seeing that the EALA studio is primarily known for RTS titles and Crysis is a next generation FPS engine. After discussing this with an EALA employee who wishes to not be named, it was stated that there is an extremely high chance that Electronic Arts’ LA studio will be developing a new FPS Command and Conquer title for the PC. It is not known if the title will be a true sequel to Renegade or a new stand alone IP however EA is very serious about exploring the options of the Crysis engine with current IPs.

Yeah, it seems like the reborn and apb guys are doing pretty well... Maybe IF Renegade 2 is confirmed, it will be about RA2, considering RA and TS are already coming along. Stupid EA and their laziness and their ignorance of the incredible Renegade fan base... :roll:

All C&C games have expansion packs. Its mandatory.

 

As for Renegade 2... I demand a better name. I mean Renegade 2 sounds crap, so does Renegade. I also demand the SP if there is one, be based on a Nod commando. Must more fun being the bad guy.

I was thinking that for a TS FPS, you could play as Umagon, or Ghost Stalker, so you can play on both factions. You should remember the mutants getting tossed around in TS, right?

Wrong with it: (not saying I don't like it but this is why it'd be ripped apart)

 

1. Terrorism. Yep. Gun hoe Republicans will try and compare this game and say it resembles terrorism. (They can tie the way Nod acts like this too)

 

2. Its not really Holy. Aliens put tiberium on Earth. The war is over Tiberium, an alien substances, not a punishment by God.

Well this is a nice rumour to hear. I would quite excited to see it confirmed. I really enjoyed Renegade (despite it's faults). C&C Mode is an interesting concept (RTS from a FPS perspective) if they could effectively combine base-building and FPS action it will truely be awesome. (I know the BF2 mod guys are attempting it...)

 

Two SP stories would be cool as well... ie Nod - as I don't think you could market a purely bad-guy's story. Well I enjoyed the cheesy, Sat Morning cartoon style characters and story...

 

If it went ahead, you'd expect it to be based on C&C3 because it's *their* true IP... rather than going through all the grief we've been putting them through for C&C3... again!

 

And if the 3rd side creates balance issues... I'm sure it would easy enough to set it the time of the first few missions where scrin haven't arrived. That would make sense, but I'm sure they would go for the all three...

C&C phoenix project?..just came to mind

 

i'm thinking...for the story...either something to do with finding the tacitus...or in the storyline of c&C3 it could be attempting to stop the missile launch that destroys the philly...

If it's true for a C&C themed FPS, i hope they hire a writer for this game, with renegade having a crap cliched storyline, it's not hard to improve on it.

 

Would like to see westwoods original vision for a stealth/shooter game, somewhat like splintercell, with logan not havok.
