rEdaSbLood 1 Posted March 14, 2007 ok, i was over at DeeZire's site looking for mods..and i read his last news update talking about how he isn't happy with CnC3...he talks about it feeling, looking, and playing more like warhammer dawn of war than CnC...he made me think i played the demo once, and i didn't necessarily get the nostalgia i expected... when i first played TS, it was so great. i mean it was a good advancement from TD..it felt like command and conquer but further into the story.. i may not be explaining this right, but i am not sure if i feel CnC3 is in the right place..or is what it should be...tiberium has been realistically ruined, i hate the fact that it doesn't grow from pods anymore, and that it doesn't infect trees anymore.. i played as GDI in the demo and even though they were suppose to rely on basic and aggressive technologies due to dying support and all that, there was nothing special about them...they felt so bland......a humvee with rockets? didnt like that much... don't think im completely bashing the game, but like deeZire said on his site...it didn't feel like CnC enough...and he said something along the lines of.."instead of it being an evolution of the franchise, it feels more like a revolution".. lemme just quote him.. Beyond the visuals and Joe Kucan, I for one am not entirely impressed with C&C3 - it looks, sounds, plays and feels a lot more like Warhammer Dawn Of War than C&C for my liking. After all, C&C with Kryptonite, a patchy sidebar interface that's took me almost a week to get my head round, no dedicated radar-providing structure, no left-click mouse(!), walls, etc etc etc is not C&C - this is not an evolution of the franchise, it's a revolution - perhaps C&C has been exposed to those strange blue and green crystaline things that keep sticking up out of the ground to the point where it's become a mutated form of it's previous self. -i actually like the sidebar no walls? why? thats part of CnC..couldn't they do something similar to Emperor wall-building? no wondering mutations?no random mutants?no tiberium vein monster?CnC3 feels a bit more like TD...we went from grenadiers(which i love don't get me wrong) to disk throwers back to grenadiers? and i firmly believe that CnC3 should look darker than what i've seen...even the unit pictures look more goofy than dark and futuristic...maybe i'm being picky? i still want the game though Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 14, 2007 Its almost as though they'd dumbed the game down to make it more accessible to those new to the series... Not that it matters that much, sure both sides went backwards in technology, all it needs to make it C&C3 is Nod and GDI and Kane. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted March 14, 2007 Oh well that settles it then, I'm done. Close this site down, cancel my C&C 3 pre-order all because another person doesn't get that nostalgic C&C feeling from C&C 3  If you want the old C&C feeling play the old C&C games. This a new C&C. Can we discuss C&C 3's positives rather than someone having another bitch session about the game. Share this post Link to post

Not that it matters that much, sure both sides went backwards in technology, all it needs to make it C&C3 is Nod and GDI and Kane. thats basically what my point was...and no sonic i don't think it was a bitch session...and there are of course positive things.. but don't you feel the same way sonic? what luk said? i agree.. to name some positives: interface, graphics, scrin, continued story, and scrin Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted March 15, 2007 but don't you feel the same way sonic? What a silly question, no I don't feel the same way. I'm excited and looking forward to C&C 3. The only let down for C&C 3 for me (based on the demo) personally has been the music, its boring and not inspiring, but thats only a minor thing really. All the classic C&C elements are in the game. LastManDancing 0 Posted March 16, 2007 The only things i don't like can be fixed with patches, slow down how quickly you receive tiberium a little bit, walls, and being able to control Nod turrets to focus fire... Oh and is it me or do your units sometimes not respond? Like you tell a saboteur to capture a tech building and half-way across he just stops... Other than that the game is pretty good, surpassed my expectations... Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted March 16, 2007 Well I never felt compelled to run the streets naked, and waving my shirt in the air, hollering C&C is back... not like the day I hear Ms. Pacman was coming out... but I'm happy. Sure I was dissapointed when I heard about some of the concepts, in that it wasn't a natural progress of the TibSun conclusion - but I was never a big fan of that edition - so it was easy to get past that, and actually support the reinvention. For me enough of the classic elements are returning in the game... and the changes they've made are ok - because they've seemed to be made internally consistent with the fiction/universe they've created. It's just a matter of tweaking some things, as mentioned previously. But I doubt EA will make those tweaks - and so I look forward to testing out the various mods that will come out in the days after the game. It's a big 10 POINTS for effort from me. I respect Deezire and his opinion, I was waiting for his response. They next thing on my todolist was to check out gamereplays - and see what the other perspective thinks.... My two biggest problems was my cheap graphics card and putting up with low settings, and the fact that I suck at Skirmish!!! But I bought a new card yesterday, and now I'm interested in playing more simply because it looks so good now! So... and this is my final closing remark... just ignore the previous ones (I was just practising)... I give the GDI SP demo missions two thumbs up with a big 'Buddy Jesus' wink, and the GDI skirmish mission a watching-tv-and-not-really-listening-to-who -is-talking-to-me-and-why-are-they-talking-anyway-can't- they-see-I'm-trying-to-watch-ironchef kinda thumbs up. -gben Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted March 17, 2007 Oh and is it me or do your units sometimes not respond? Like you tell a saboteur to capture a tech building and half-way across he just stops... I noticed that too, and the reason why it does that is if you're still selected on a unit and place a building, the unit will stop... not good... Share this post Link to post
illumenatis 0 Posted March 17, 2007 To be honest, Deezire doesn't know what hes talking about. For one, the way Tiberium looks now is the same as it did in TS and TD. The only thing is that we can see detail. In TD and TS, there wasn't very good graphics that could show us how Tiberium was actually supposed to look. [it is actually spikes, not flat grass  ] and this was back in 1995-1998 or so. Now in 2007, over 2 years later, we can see Tiberium as it was meant to be. And just because we don't see Tiberium infected trees doesn't mean the game isn't CNC. To say this game isn't CNC just because theres no walls or it isn't to your expectations is the talk of, for a lack of a better term, a noob. Also, it doesn't matter that there isn't a dedicated radar providing structure. It wont make any difference if we have the radar being provided by the Con Yard or the radar station. In fact, having it on the Con Yard is a lot better. Because if you have multiple con yards, not only will you have a lot of radar structures, but you can build more buildings. This gives you the advantage of efficient building tabs and multiple radars. Not only that but the Con Yard is a lot stronger than the Radar station. And the sidebar is your own problem if you cant used to it. Adaption is the key to war. You have to be able to react to whatever your given. I will agree, however, that the music isn't the best. EA should have employed Frank for the job. But I congratulate the guys who did it; I'm not gonna be an ass over music. I can always put in my own.. Also, I am the other perspective from GR. Sadly, I never got along with them. And Im quite glad I got banned too. Otherwise Id get banned for extreme flaming of noobs. If you popped into the CNC3 forums lately, youd see a lot of noob questions... Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted March 17, 2007 I thought they did a really good job on the new sidebar to be honest. Share this post Link to post
illumenatis 0 Posted March 17, 2007 I do too. I actually love it. The tab system worked in RA2 and it works in CNC 3. Share this post Link to post

illumenatis 0 Posted March 17, 2007 Well, actually, it was with one person...[*cough agm *cough] I still have the perspective that GR caters, I just didnt want to be a part of their community... But enough on my history, back on topic! Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted March 17, 2007 Funny DeeZire was screaming about how truly excellent BfME2 was! To be honest, compared to C&C 3, BfME 2 is a pile of ****! I'll express my feelings in a the full review (Once I get this long, arduous and boring summit review out the way), but from what I've played, C&C 3 is unique amongst the competition. While it's not even remotely as good as Company of Heroes, it's takes back a niche in the RTS market that has been sorely missing in recent years. A niche which C&C has had since 1995, a niche which tells us C&C is back! The game gives us nostalgia back, while moving the franchise forward into the future. It justifies the hunger of the die hard single and multiplayer freak alike. Aside to a few graphical glitches and a poor forgetful soundtrack, the game is everything it should be. People in this community including DeeZire who mention walls, Tiberium, and the like. The people who are going to nit-pick every single element of this game because Westwood supposedly "could have done it better" need to shut the **** up, or just **** off out of here once and for all! We don't need people like this in this community, so the quicker they **** off, the sooner we can get onto enjoying the game for what it is..... Command & Conquer. Share this post Link to post

DeeZire is a highly respected modder for a reason...and tiberium isn't how its suppose to look necessarily, it originally grew in 'pods'..im not a noob to CnC ive been here since the first...and if u have u would know how tiberium is suppose to look.............ALSO us not seeing tiberium infected trees DOES NOT follow CnC story because in 1 & 2 riparius' were present...now all of the sudden tiberium comes from a hole in the ground? walls arent completely necessary...this isnt a big issue.. there being a dedicated structure to radar adds more strategy to the gameplay...like in RA2 using spies to disable it ...and such true that adaptation is key in war...but that doesn't mean changing necessary particulars in a game and its story is sensible.. rEdaSbLood 1 Posted March 17, 2007 guys try and read, i think i said that i will take CnC3 as it comes...but its up to us as the veteran community to acknowledge certain faults in the game, which then gives us the purpose of community summits!! i liked the demo, but there were certain things that i was not happy about...its my right as a CnC veteran to be able to express these faults... like I've said before, don't get me wrong. i cant wait to get the full version. Saracen 16 Posted March 17, 2007 Well, to be completely honest, Westwood never wanted the Aliens within C&C 3, they would come in C&C 4. Westwood's C&C 3 was going to make the changes to Tiberium's Evolution and demise within blue zones, the elaborate rise and fall of Cabal, tech changes and such. But what EA have done is chuck C&C 3 & 4 into a single game. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted March 17, 2007 Wait, EA not wanting to milk it out longer? WTF? Share this post Link to post

illumenatis 0 Posted March 17, 2007 [to red] When I referred to tiberium in its original form, I was reffering to the spikes sticking out of the the pods. And dont think I dont know CNC. Ive been here as long as you have. Id like to see some more elaboration on how a dedicated radar structure provides more strategy to the game. TBH, the spy strategy is probably the only strategy that involves the radar structure without having to destroy it. Switching it over the Con Yard makes no difference rather than you have it in: 1. A stronger, longer lasting building 2. One you can move around 3. One you can have multiples of without using POWER And to be honest, to complain about a tree is not exactly what needs to be thrown at EA. A tree or hole in the ground makes no difference. You still have a tiberium patch to harvest from. And on the story...you do know that Tiberium evolves right? In TD it started as pods, then in TS when to small crystals in the ground [the pods are still there, except underground]and now in TW you get large crystals. For all you know, there still are Tiberium pods, just underground. [/u] Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted March 17, 2007 It's almost like tiberium is its own faction. Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted March 17, 2007 i knew that tiberium evolves but i wasnt aware that it was part of the original CnC storyline... King is really hitting my CnC sweet spot...i wonder what RA4&5 and CnC5 were suppose to be about Share this post Link to post
