Starcraft 2?

Now I'm wondering how C&C3 would play out with a pop limit?

I don't think it would be too mcuh difference, because the games are quick and short ie. pop caps not reached.

I think that's basically the reason why C&C never had a population limit. In any multiplayer game, the chances of you reaching any kind of normal population limit would be slim unless there was some kind of 1-hour cease fire or something.

or unless you were all a bunch of "turtles"

Turtling is not always an effective tactic. In C&C, turtling doesn't do much in the way of stopping an effectively planned Scrin or GDI assault, while in Starcraft, a quick nuke strike or mass hordes of units will pretty much take down any defense if properly used.

Not really. You'd be surprised how quickly I can hit the 200 pop limit in Starcraft. Ten minutes is all you need.

Not if you're playing with SC's regular crowd. They'll send units over to you the second they can make them.

that's not the "regular" crowd that's the Korean crowd maybe not the minute they can make them but they'll have a damn good strategy with all those crazy asian reflexes

Nah. I can max pop on maps like LT and BGH in 10 to 15 minutes. It's pretty easy. No one likes seeing hordes of Dragoons marching toward their base. kekeke

if they made pop limit on C&C 3, you would see more rushing then skill. i wish they would make grunts like 1 and not 3... so i can swarm with grunts :(

Yes, well, that would be okay, I guess... Still, nothing beats the good ol' Zerg Rush...

I'm just saying that if you're a rusher, Zerg is good to go... And even if the enemy sends Dragoons to flatten your base, like Ayumu said, a properly coordinated Zergling or Ultralisk & Hydralisk combo will finish that off, not to mention the infamous Mutalisk & Guardian killer combo... Terrans can just use Ghosts to lockdown some of the Dragoons, effectively buying them time to deploy some Siege Tanks to Siege Mode to blow up the Dragoon force, seeing as their attack type is Explosive, dealing 100% damage to large units, and Dragoons are large units... Not to mention the splash damage and probable close proximity of the Dragoons to one another...

Any rush can be thwarted given the right player. Really what it comes down to is who is the faster and more skilled player. Either one person is better at rushing than the other is defending or vise versa. In my time playing StarCraft, I don't know there is really a "full-proof" strategy that could work every time/

There isn't, only an effective combination of strategies can and will win the day.

Generally speaking, nothing is fool proof. If a particular tactic is successful, it's simply because no-one has found a good counter. In real life they research technology, in games they nerf/buff.

<Insert cliche tzu comment as you like>

the best players are the ones who adapt to the changes in the environment. Because nothing ever goes according to plan... and that's how we get "acceptable losses".

I love starcraft - it's really like chess!

Marine rushing is more fun. I love hitting n00bs early on with about 10. XD

Marines & Firebatsare cheap..& easier to deploy than building battlecruiser.

yamato canon is cool, but marines much faster & easier.

goliaths & wraiths ok too...

Dragoons & Zealots are good combo. Archon nice but they die easily if the caught in EMP blast.

Zerglings & Hydralisks are quick. triplets means that can rush quickly. Lurker best for base defence.

As always, there are counters. For example, a spam of Zealots & Dragoons reap skulls like hell, but a well-executed Terran counter would be a few EMPs, followed by irradiate and air units to take down everything else in a sweep... Though if poorly thought of, the Terran player will throw infantry into the fray... Getting them killed alot quicker due to the fact that Irradiate is also AoE...

For players using Archons defensively, it would be tough to kill the Archons... If they properly use a Shield Battery to keep the shields up... And provide air support.

Marines are effective at any time, as long as they are properly used, but if the enemy uses Zealots or mass Zerglings, or Lurkers, the Marines get ripped apart...

Starcraft is like evolution... Adapt and live, stay the same and die...
