Alphabear 11 Posted November 11, 2007 sure its sorta "cool" looking, but they cant completely duplicate it, so No its not 100% "real" because the creators who made up that device didnt go into scientific detail on how it works and how it totaly does what it does. these guys just did it from scratch which still isnt 100% real O.o ever good for me? its funny you dont know me or even know what i think, so go ahead. plus reason i put this down was because it was rather a dumb and very time consuming project... sure it can be cool for looks but they cant actualy replicate 100% because the fact it never came with plans.... The only part that couldn't be duplicated was the standalone range and being able to target it. Other than that it is a fully working and real Tesla Coil Share this post Link to post

Can you see it? good! It's there! then it's real right?! They build a tesla-coil. they didn't photoshop it! stop being so damn negative about everthing. be happy! Share this post Link to post

PunWisp 0 Posted November 11, 2007 just because they built it to look like it doesnt mean it is a "real" also i only commented on about 2 of your lego movies.. then that" how to build legos" thing or w/e its called and this is out of what? a couple dozen movies youve made? anyway, sure it would be cool looking and a bit interesting, but Actually trying to make one is rather dumb... what did they do tie a certain type of wire to those "fake" pple and turn on a bunch of stuff and take a fast picture of the electricty going thru the wire. if your skilled enough, you can make those lightning bolt things.. im actually surpsrised they tried making it though... dont see much of a purpose other then showing a smaller lacking version of the "Real" well it cant "technically" be real sense it doesnt or didnt exist anyway, only in our imaginations and games Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted November 11, 2007 First, you really need to learn when to shut the **** up. Second, learn English. And third, have you no mind? You can't understand that you need to shut up, or that you are always degrading things that aren't EVER as bad as you say they are. This was a creative project made by some loyal Command and Conquer fans. It is an interesting optical phenomena with a CnC twist to it. No **** it doesn't exist, but have you no imagination, or any liking for CnC? It certainly doesn't seem that way. So in the best interests of you and everyone in the world, I'm telling you to SHUT THE **** UP before you damage society any further. Share this post Link to post

(i.e. if you don't have the first idea of how to make something cool like that, just stfu and don't ruin it for everyone else) Share this post Link to post

The wire is there in certain parts to ensure that a) it reaches the target for the picture and it doesnt just go off in some other direction. Other than that everything about the Tesla Coil is REAL as they do in fact exist. Share this post Link to post

tesladownunder 0 Posted November 13, 2007 I am Tesladownunder and this is my photo. Sounds like people here are making accusations of fakery but have not even bothered to look at the site to understand how it was done. Maybe never even seen a Tesla coil. I have extensive explanations and diagrams on my site and about 1100 photos. Red Alert Tesla project page I will explain if you can't bother. There is no photoshopping at all. None. It is a single 17 second exposure that does have things that happen during that 17 seconds to give the effects. It is not "down a wire". There is a wire with a 3 foot gap held together by fishing line that the sparks jump across. During the first 10 second this first wire with gap is pulled across the long spark distance of 22ft. The camera will pick up all sparks as the line travels the distance giving the appearance similar to a single spark. After this effect is done then there is a similar line that is pulled from the Tesla trooper through to the lower toroid and on through to the shed to the right. There is only ever one spark at a time. Many things are happening during that 17 seconds and are the result of a lot of planning and 4 people doing stuff behind the scenes. Do you understand? hagren 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Please dont assume that everyone thinks as punwisp, hes always this juvenile. I assure you that we appreciate your work, and think its amazing. I know i do: While you created something real, you payed attention to make it look cartoony, which shows how much you care. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted November 13, 2007 Thanks for the explanation tesladownunder, and like hagren said don't let the actions of one person give the impression that we all doubt it. Perhaps if didn't say "Real Life" in the news subject Punwisp wouldn't have shot it down saying otherwise. Share this post Link to post
tesladownunder 0 Posted November 13, 2007 I am not really concerned. In fact the proportion of people calling this a fake is lower than some of my other photos (like the Tesla car thief protection) because I had a separate page and was able to indulge extra construction photos and explanations. Some "fake" comments are a real crack up like this one: that pic is wickid! but still has me thinking how they did it, the people in the pic look abit fake, like models or summink and the guy being zapped, original photo shop? ... Really! the guy being zapped is a cardboard cutout. This photo is now on about 70 English speaking sites (including this forum) and 40 foreign ones - mostly German so a LOT of people have seen it. I expect the Russians will pick it up more later as they usually like my stuff. It is officially my 4th most popular photo. Your forum is one of the few I have replied to. BTW I rarely play games or watch TV. I simply figured that this would be a nostalgic trip for those 12 million people that bought Red Alert 2. TDU Share this post Link to post

PunWisp 0 Posted November 13, 2007 the only thing that "really" through me off was how small the tesla was... plus why would you actually attempt to duplicate the tesla coil? Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted November 13, 2007 Asking why he would is kind of like asking why I'd make my movies. Because it looks cool, it's entertaining for himself AND OTHERS, and heck, it's just a fun project to do! Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted November 13, 2007 the only thing that "really" through me off was how small the tesla was... plus why would you actually attempt to duplicate the tesla coil? Why? Because you can, its something to do. Like the Temple of Nod case mod I mentioned in the original post. Someone made it because it was possible and the results turned out great. Just like this real life Tesla Coil. Share this post Link to post
tesladownunder 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Small is relative and is not the impression you get from close up. Even a small TC is extremely loud and fearsome. Nevertheless I chose a scale that gave models of 4 feet high as a compromise so they could wear people clothes, shoes and hardhats. The other scale factor was the length of spark. I settled on 19 feet or so as trying to fit in 30 feet sparks made the Tesla coil in the picture too small which was really the focus of the shot. I was not really happy with the final result but with a full day setup and multiple problems the final shot was at 10:30 pm which was not a sociable time. I didn't have the 1/2 hour to correct the problems, reload the lines and reshoot. And why do this in the first place? Shameless self promotion mostly. I like to have lots of new WOW stuff that is nowhere else on the net. As a result my Tesla site is now up with the best in the world. Just Google for Tesla coil and Tesladownunder is usually 3 and 4 out of 400,000. I am catching up on my last competitors with similar sites who are both PageRank 6 and I am still 5 as I have been going for a much shorter time. The thing is that I am an ordinary Aussie bloke with no qualifications who is entirely self taught. Funny how things have turned out really. TDU Share this post Link to post
