  1. Its a little bit different for Throwback Thursday this week. Jumping back to 3 different time periods, its a Triple Tanya Throwback. We have had Special Agent Tanya appear in 3 Red Alert games, plus expansions, but the character has been portrayed by 3 different actresses. Kari Wuhrer as Tanya in Red Alert 2 from 2000 has always appeared to be the most popular. When Red Alert 3 was announced, there was a push from the community and fans for EA to get Kari Wuher back again. But EA had already long since cast Jenny McCarthy to take over the part. I think it still worked just fine. Check back again next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  2. Yes APOC used to do something similar a few years ago. "Throwback Thursday" is something that has been done for years in other media. I adopted its use for CNCNZ.com to have some type of weekly feature to keep the site updated when news runs dry. We have wealth of archived content here so I thought it would be cool to go back and relive some of it. I don't plan them to far ahead so feel free to PM me your ideas for them.
  3. Throwback Thursday is a new regular feature that will appear every Thursday from today, right here at CNCNZ.com. Each one will look back at something from the past that was interesting, awesome, funny or just plain old strange. They will be Command & Conquer related of course. Today, lets kick things off looking back at the design of the Nod Engineer from Tiberian Twilight, this was defiantly one of the worst designed units in the game. It became known as the "The Flying Worm Man". Seriously, what the hell were they thinking when they came up with this one? Check back next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  4. This is the File Explorer in Windows 8.1, taken from my PC.... And this the File Explorer in what is apparently the latest Windows 10 build.... What's with the low colour icons? Crap looking minimise/maximise/close buttons. Probably just as well Windows 10 will be free because by the appearance alone they can't sell it to me.
  5. 2 years in the making, version 1.85 of the Rise of the Reds mod for Zero Hour has arrived. This brand new release includes a variety of new features, including many new units and abilities for all factions, a complete visual overhaul of Russia and the GLA, the much anticipated GLA Recycler mechanic, countless tweaks to the AI and the inner workings of the game. The launch trailer was posted, watch it above. There is more as well. Here's a summary, the full change log is available. Drastically reduced lag in AI matches Integrated SWR.net multiplayer service New map pack integrated in the main installation Vastly remodelled Russian and GLA faction Several new units and abilities for all factions Support for the Ultimate Collection version on Origin. All official maps revised to be more balanced. Unique voice overs for many old and new units. Head over to the Rise of the Reds site now for the download.
  6. In less than week, and just time for the remains of the Easter break. Another playest build of OpenRA has been released. This new playtest addresses most of the issues that have been reported. In particular, these are... The balancing in the Red Alert mod, while not finalized, has received some more touch-ups. Quite a number of crashes and other oddities have been fixed. The overly enthusiastic “Enemies approaching” warning has been removed from both Red Alert and Dune 2000. Even more performance improvements have been made. Read the full changelog for more details on the playtest changes and bugfixes. Visit the OpenRA site for the download.
  7. Its Throwback Thursday time once again. For this week I thought we should go back and look at one of the April Fools jokes that EALA posted. The Mammoth Tank pops up in every Command & Conquer game in one form or another. But this time it really is a "Mammoth" Tank. The cool thing about this joke is the fact that they released the source files for modders to download so they could add it to the game as a real unit. That's how April Fools jokes should be done. Check back next Thursday for another Throwback. Send in your ideas for future instalments. We encourage you to share this on social media using the hash tags #CnCTBT and #CNCNZTBT.
  8. I totally forgot to post this the other day. The problems with our downloads being blocked have been fixed and you should have no more warnings or horrible messages when attempting to download anything from CNCNZ.com. Popular sections like the Freeware Classic Command & Conquer Games, C&C Patch Centre, our GenTool mirror, are all 100% safe and available. Without going into to much detail, I can confirm that no data was compromised, there were no files containing malicious code. But something was reported to sources like Google as being suspicious so the block was put in place as a precaution. We are glad to have it sorted. And we apologise for inconvenience this may have caused.

GTA V Coming To PC, Xbox One & PS4

Grand Theft Auto V 60fps PC Trailer. Best viewed in 1080p of course. http://www.rockstargames.com/videos/video/11267
  10. We don't have the large downloads archive on CNCNZ.com any more. But I see @Plokite_Wolf has taken care of it already, so problem solved I guess
  11. Missed any edition of Cartoon and Conquer. Hit up the Gallery Archive at..... https://cncnz.com/hosted-projects/cartoon-and-conquer/cartoon-archive/ You can view each gallery with thumbnail previews split across multiple pages. Or just pick the gallery you want, click on the first thumbnail preview and use the pop up Lightbox to “flip” through them.
  12. Yeah that would be due to the all the changes that took place back in December 2013. While everything is fine on the main site, many of the older forum topics here are still expecting to find the images on cnp.cncnz.com. So as Nmenth has pointed out, they need to be fixed. Isn't it easier to view them by going to http://www.cncnz.com/hosted-projects/cartoon-and-conquer/ and use either the Cartoon Archive or Commentary Gallery though?
  13. Because www.cbcpt.com is already taken. As I posted on the CNCNZ.com Facebook page, www.cbcpt.tv would be the most ideal.
  14. The Community BattleCast PrimeTime team have a quick question to ask the community. What do you think is the best unique URL for a potentially new Community Battlecast Primetime site? Some of the options are listed below, but we will assume they are open to other suggestions. www.cbcptofficial.com www.cbcpt-cnc.com www.cbcpt.org www.communitybattlecastprimetime.com www.officialcbcpt.com So which one is the best? Share you thoughts on the Community Battlecast Primetime Facbook page.
  15. A new playtest build of OpenRA has been made available. These playtest builds provide a snapshot of the current development for feedback by the testers. You can help shape the future of OpenRA by testing them and reporting bugs or simply letting the community know what you think. Below is a list of the highlights that are included in this release. In sell mode, a structures tooltip will show the expected refund value. Spy planes in Red Alert will no longer lure your anti-air capable units across the map. Airplanes will now fly higher and not push helicopters out of their way any more. Harvester logic has been improved to make use of all available refineries and to avoid blockages. New missions: Allies03b and Allies05a for Red Alert, and GDI05a, Nod02a and Nod02b for Tiberian Dawn. More memory usage and performance improvements. On Linux, the .orarep file extension will be associated with OpenRA so that replays can be started from a file manager with a simple double-click. Read the full changelog for more details on the playtest changes and bugfixes. Visit the OpenRA site for the download.
  16. Another update for Renegade X has been made available. The team are continuing to work hard and fix more bugs and make changes to ensure a better gaming experience. Beta 4.02 includes the fixes and changes seen in the list below. Fixed volt rifle secondary fire exploit Fixed losing the Nuke when buying an SBH after buying the Nuke Fixed a map exploit on UnderRedux near the Tiberium Silo Increased the time between queued airdrops by about 20 seconds Increased infantry costs when Barracks/Hand of Nod are destroyed to be twice as much as the normal cost Increased vehicle airdrop costs to be twice as much as the normal cost Moved third person MRLS cam up a bit for a better overview Made Stealthtanks rockets initial rotation to be less random RCon: Added "PLAYER" RCON log event "ChangeID;" to report when a reconnecting player's PlayerID changes in FindInactivePRI() To get this update simply start the Renegade X Launcher and you be should prompted to download the update automatically. A new full down will be made available soon, as well as a new build of the Renegade X SDK.
  17. It has come to my attention that visitors using either Firefox or Chrome as their browser will probably be unable to download files from CNCNZ.com. For reasons unknown to me at this time the downloads are essentially blocked. The files will actually download, but your browser will block them due to them being suspect or containing malicious code. I've been running checks on everything through out the entire site but I've found nothing out of the ordinary. So I have further steps to take to get things back to normal. This means sections like Freeware Classic Command & Conquer Games, C&C Patch Centre, our GenTool mirror, or anywhere you see a download button are out of action. The good news. I've check all these files off-line and I can assure you that are 100% clean. CNCNZ.com doesn't host any harmful content and we plan to keep it that way. However this doesn't remove the blocks and warnings that can appear. We apologise for the current problem and we hope to have rectified as soon as possible,
  18. This is some amazing Command & Conquer fan art, created by Raphael Ruas De Figueiredo. Inspired by this classic screenshot from the original Command & Conquer. If you know of any other cool looking Command & Conquer fan art, please share it with us.

    Play in Windows 98

You can't just copy the files from one computer to another and expect them to work. You will need clean install (and patch them) from some original media. Installing from ISO's will also work. If you install Origin on your Win 98 system and login there it will show your Orgin library and allow you to download and install any game you own to that computer.
  20. It was briefly mentioned the other day in the news about the release of Renegade X Beta 4 that the long-awaited Renegade X SDK is also available for download. In case you didn't you read up on that, let's take a closer look at that now. The Renegade X SDK is essentially the mod tools that Renegade X team use to make the game. With these tools you will be able to create custom levels, mutators, and modifications for Renegade X. You will have full access to all of these assets, and the source code. The Totem Arts team will be providing lots of support and guidance along the way. Watch this introduction video about the Renegade X SDK. There is also further help in the form of some new to get you started designing your own Renegade X maps and mods. Like Totem Arts, CNCNZ.com believes this is significant release for the future of modding. Not only for Renegade X but for the entire Command & Conquer modding community. These powerful tools are now ready for you to unleash your creativity.
  21. Here's a cropped and edited version that can be used as a wallpaper. 1920 x 1080.
  22. Renegade X Open Beta 4 is now available for download. Beta 4 is the biggest update to date, featuring a multitude of fixes and new content. The full list of changes can be found here. While Beta 4 is downloading check out the new Renegade X Beta 4 launch trailer, #JustDoItUp Visit the Renegade X site now for the download. Before installing Beta 4 please take note of this important step. And for those who are right into creating maps and mods, the long-awaited Renegade X SDK is also available for download.
  23. Beta 4 of Renegade X has only been released for a less than a day and an important patch has already been released. Patch 4.01 addressed the following discovered problems. Vehicle physics are closer to what they were in Beta 3 Fixed vehicle explosion not showing in multiplayer Deactivated repairgun alt fire mode for now as it is believe that it was the reason for today's server crashes. The issue is hard to reproduce so the team need more time to fix it properly and can reactivate the secondary fire mode To get this update simply start the Renegade X Launcher and you be should prompted to download the update automatically. Remember, this update is for Open Beta 4, so you need to download and install that before you can get this update.
  24. We have our first new poll for this year. For this poll we are focusing on the hottest subject in the C&C Community right now. How do you feel about the Official C&C Forums being closed down? What best describes your thoughts on the official forums being unceremoniously wiped out recently. Are you fine with it, because we didn't need them anyway, perhaps it really annoys you, or you simply don't care because you never really used them. To vote in this poll you need to be on the main page of our site, and cast your vote in the poll box on the right side bar. You can also check the the current results in the Poll Archives. And, as always, don't forget to share any feedback or comments about this poll as well. Lets take a quick look at our previous poll, What is your favourite Command & Conquer soundtrack? Plenty of total votes for this one, but it looks like the Red Alert 2 Original Soundtrack is the favourite among many C&C fans with 28% of the votes. Full results can be found in the Poll Archives.
