Red Alert 3 Tanya Trailer - Watch it Now

Recommended Posts

As we reported a couple of days ago, GameTrailers TV would be showing the new Tanya Trailer for Red Alert 3. It was first shown on the Spike TV channel in the USA. Now the rest of the world can watch it. Sometimes things get a little messy out on the field.

ts available in other formats right here.

Just seen it, nothing much new to me. :( The 1st clip, I rather watch that in the Premier Edition, not now. 2nd clip? Hmm, so-so, just a little sneak peek of that FMV though. Overall, nothing special to me. Sorry, mates.

Shorter than I expected. So far, it looks like Jenny is playing Tanya pretty well. Now we just have to wait for Natasha's trailer.

I have to honestly say that I'm not highly anticipating seeing Tanya in any FMV's. She doesn't look the part to my taste. Seriously, what's up with the excessive make-up? She looks like a raccoon or something.

I'll have to see more of her before I make a complete decision, though.

Racoon :D

I'm not quite in love with Jenny either, but having Gemma, everything else is insignificant anyway :D

This clip did nothing to advance my hopes for good movies in RA3, I must say, my expectations fall with each new preview they give us...

Take out the makeup, and she's fine ;)

Lt. Eva isn't very attractive though =/

What was the issue?

Lately we have been bombarded with short trailers showcasing the women of RA3.

Rather than EA trying to get me to buy the game our of sex appeal, I would like to see more from the other actors, like George Takei, Peter Stormare, etc (the two who I was really surprised to be in the game).

I really don't want to know what you're vision of a beautiful woman is... Somehow I sense it'd look like the clown I saw at a friend's birthday party when I was younger that looked like a tranny. :P

You want to see men?! Gay! :P But really, yea, I agree.

Sorry, the whole thing just looks bad. Perhaps we have been spoilt by video game sequances that have been done with great artistic skill, maybe I am just biased to the second Red Alert (still bad, but enjoyable). Either way it just looks all wrong. The character's looks. The voices. The acting. The costumes. I cannot help but think this is a high school film project rather than a professionally produced piece of practical period phtography put to PC.

So you got all that from a short 30 second clip? Damn, I'd hate to see your post after you have seen all of RA3's FMVs then.

Maybe I will turn out to be wrong. Maybe the finished article will look better. Going by this video however it just feels like the quality when video was first used in games.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. CnC videos were never professional. The set/prop/costume design was always low-cost (Though high production values for a game), the dialogue was always cheesy ("Let's kick some ass"), and the acting always campy (""I am not your pet Mister President"). I agree that previous CnCs had a more serious approach in the big picture, RA and TD the least, but putting RA3 FMVs, even in excerpts, next to TW movies is a gargantual step up, be it set/costume design, lighting or direction, and on par with the likes of RA2. And there's nothing wrong with most of the acting either, especially Corry and Stormare are adorable. Imho. As a huge RA2 fan.

Well all in all, I don't mind the new Tanya... perhaps it's because she's not wearing a beret!

Perhaps it is time EA did away with live actors. We have the technology in this day and age to make people and enviroments that are almost indisguishable from the real thing. If we wanted to, we could create Tanya to be a combination of Lynne Litteer, Kari Wuhrer and Milla Jovovich. The big stars EA likes to use could provide the voices if not the looks. Just a thought. Maybe my mind will change when I see JK Simmons in the finished product.

I believe that would be a fatal mistake.

You think it would be a fatal mistake do you? Well I would be very interested in hearing your explanation of why you think it would be a fatal mistake and I am sure others would like to hear it as well.

The live action cut scenes are one of C&C's biggest selling points. Despite advancements in CGI technology its just not the same.

I guess people want the old school cool factor of using full motion video sequances. That would be particularly true of Command & Conquer fans who grew up with the series from where they began and technology was only just beginning to be able to utilize proper lie action footage to today where we could make computer generated cut scenes indistinguishable from the real thing if we wanted to. For me, I hesitate that tackiness is part of Red Alert's charm, but personally it does not matter to me as long as it is good. So far it seems out of place, I think part of it is that the British accents make it look like someone else made the game (which is true, someone else did) and that makes the video disconcerting because what we see and what we hear does not click with what we are familiar with, but I am willing to reserve judgment until the inevitable Tanya\Natasha catfight.

The british accents annoy you? You know that EALA is an American studio, right? And that they're only in there because they wanted to make clear that the Allies aren't just Americans?

Also, I prefer real actors over CGI, sorry. Everything else would not be CnC. I agree though that they could shoot decent films instead of deliberately campy ones. With CnC4.

Sure, and I do not begrudge a British actor playing the role. Given that Tanya had been portrayed as American however, it would be a bit like if Billy Dee Williams suddenly played Kane instead of Joe Kucan.
