Sonic 295 Posted November 12, 2008 I believe this is the first review for the Xbox 360 version of Red Alert 3 and it comes from Team Xbox. This review doesn't rate so well though, a meagre 6.7/10 was given. The reviewer criticises the graphics and really rips into the acting. Here's a sample. In the big picture, if they would have attempted to make any of this outright funny, it might of worked. But watching the cutscenes and following the story, you’ll be repeatedly confronted with one really uncomfortable fact: they’re being serious. Maybe if the gameplay was really over the top and amazing, it would be worth sitting through the cut scenes. Or maybe of the cut scenes were just a little better done, the game’s inherent flaws would have become less important. It’s impossible to say. What is possible to say is that whatever small fun that can be gleaned from Red Alert 3 is not worth the hideously poor attempts at humor and bargain basement production values that envelop the final product like a shroud. Its almost as if the reviewer missed the whole concept behind Red Alert 3. If your interested you can read the full review right here. Share this post Link to post
BioBen 3 Posted November 12, 2008 Yeah alot of the reviews seem to miss the whole point and concept Share this post Link to post

Sonic 295 Posted November 12, 2008 Hagren, are you on some sort of crusade to hunt down the writers of bad RA3 reviews or something? Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Well you know me, I like to defend what I love Also, I seek justice. I don't want RA3 to fail solely because some are not getting the concept. Share this post Link to post
Hannibal 0 Posted November 12, 2008 Seriously, what's up with all these people complaining about the cut scenes? Haven't they ever played a Red Alert game before? Share this post Link to post
Red Blitzkrieg 0 Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) These guys don't no jack about reviewing. The graphics are awesome, the audio's awesome, corny cut scenes are a must cuz it's a bloody GAME we play them to escape realism and seriousness.Longevity and innovation are also good. My review of these poor slobs is -10 out of 10, come back to reviewing when you're not like fox news. And no, I'm not saying this as a fan boy but as someone insulted by a poor review of a great game. ..........Aw to heck with it PURGE THE NON-BELIEVERS AND HERETICS! The Commander 0 Posted November 13, 2008 I love RA 2 and have played every single C&C, but after playing RA 3 and seeing how all the people here seem to flame bad reviews I won't give my honest opion on it for the above reason. Share this post Link to post
recover 2 Posted November 13, 2008 Whether you like RA3 relates to whether you like this kind of acting, the reviewers should state this along with their opinion. Share this post Link to post

It's not about bad reviews, it's about unjustified claims. But do tell us why you dislike RA3 For my money, it is at least as good as RA2, and that was the game which made me fall in love with CnC. Especially the music and map design is wonderful, but also the units and side diversity. Some neat FMV bits as well. Share this post Link to post

RA3 didn't give me that WOW effect, I do like the storyline and videos. But then my bad thoughts on it are the unit voices, you can hardly hear them unless you zoom in close and just the gameplay feel of RA3 is just way to much like C&C 3. Also the missions almost tend to get repeditive for me and makes me not want to keep progressing through them, RA 2 was the opisite to this. Other than that it's a good game. In settings, under Audio, you can increase/decrease volume of Music, Sound FX, Voice (this is the one you want), Ambient, and Movie. Share this post Link to post

I agree, however the lolish cutscenes and the fact I played it with a friend is what got me through it. Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted November 13, 2008 There are enough ingenious ideas in those missions that I always want to know what happens next, what location the game sends me to and which track is going to play. Share this post Link to post

This was the first thing I done, still not the same as ra/ts voice over volumes. There are enough ingenious ideas in those missions that I always want to know what happens next, what location the game sends me to and which track is going to play. But each mission is "almost" basicly blow this structre up = mission complete. Edited November 14, 2008 by The Commander Share this post Link to post
hagren 0 Posted November 14, 2008 Perhaps, but the missions all start differently. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted November 14, 2008 To me, it feels alot like a C&C 3 mod. That would be impossible, because technically RA3 doesn't use the SAGE Engine anymore. Every single bit of the original SAGE engine has been changed now. For Red Alert 3 the engine was heavily rewritten. So now it's called the RNA engine. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted November 14, 2008 Its still SAGE, its just been changed so much they reached a point where they could rename it to the RNA Engine. Either way the SAGE/RNA engine has been a proven winner. With each game that use its the new version is packed with more and more improvements and visual treats. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted November 14, 2008 This was the first thing I done, still not the same as ra/ts voice over volumes. Then max out Voice, decrease all the rest, and crank up your speaker volume. Seems like you have some sort of a glitch or something though, because I also like hearing unit voices and they sound just fine to me (except the Kirov, RA2's Kirov had a much better voice). Also, I do get a completely different vibe from RA3 than TW. Share this post Link to post
