RA3 Uprising Unit Profile: Allies Cryo Legionnaire

A new Red Alert 3: Uprising unit profile has been posted on the Official C&C Site. This profile focuses on the Allies Cryo Legionnaire. As always, there is a short in game video, concept art and extra information. Here is a sample....

 

Part of the appeal of the Legionnaire Initiative is in the nonviolent nature of its approach to conflict resolution. Cryo Legionnaires eschew any conventional weapons in favor of a semi-portable "cryo-cannon," whose technology was co-opted from FutureTech's own Cryocopter design. This device quickly absorbs 99 percent of all heat in a fixed, conical area out in front, essentially causing everything in the vicinity to quickly freeze over. The effect is so rapid that living creatures go into a fugue state, such that their frozen bodies can be detained, collected, and later revived in time for a speedy and fair war-trial.

Looks more like a Chrono Legionnaire.

 

Check out this Chrono Legionnaire concept art and then tell me the Cryo Legionnaire is an original design.

 

These units are so similar, I wonder if they meant it to be this way. Since no Einstein, what would have become the Chrono Legionnaire turned out to be a Cryo Legionnaire in the new timeline.

yes i think they look similar because of the no Einstein thing, and if you look at it closely it looks like a cross between a ZT and a Chrono-Legionnaire...

Control upgrades - yah!

 

I don't know how else to imagine the animation of the cold vapour, but it doesn't look right, not menacing in even a comical way... shame.

Are you hinting at the fact that these little videos don't have any audio? Think about it, these videos are the same ones that appear in game with the voice over explaining the units abilities etc....

I love this unit. It pays homage to the original Chrono Legionaire and it reminds me of Zone Troopers in C&C3. Damn it I got the secondary a little wrong earlier, I mentioned it some sort of bull charge boost-esque tactic to destroy the frozen targets, turned out it was a jumpjet-esque boost kick.

The troops freezing looks cool though.

i find the latest art much better than the original chrono leg.

 

they could change more the weapn thought, but its really cool the animation and ability.

the time needed for freezing seems slow in the video...

 

hope the rest profiles of the original game will be soon filled up!

I'm more referring to the other thread where Luk3us is demanding more girly pics, but I want the audio on the unit profiles added first. When they first appeared, way back when, there were several comments, that it was odd seeing the unit but not hearing the unit sfx. It doesn't need the voice-over... just the animation sfx.

 

It looks like it's in the process is all I was saying.
