Psycho 78' 0 Posted February 17, 2009 New here. been playin C&C games since i was 6 years old when Command and Conquer was released on Sega Saturn. Then i got into Red Alert Retaliations on playstation. Since then i've been playin nearly every C&C game on PC except RA3 and Generals. Well, anyways the main reason i joined is to ask some help on graphics cards. I picked up C&C 3 Tib. Wars two months ago and i've been playing with the graphics at the lowest setting. Any reccomondations on graphics cards plz?? Unexpenisive ones will catch my interest the most btw. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted February 17, 2009 Do you like Nvidia or ATI? I prefer Nvidia cards myself, so any of the series 7 or 8 cards will run the game on highish settings and are pretty cheap. Welcome to the pr0ness that is CNCNZ... Be warned a furry maniac will soon arrive spouting random propaganda, do not be fooled by his trickery, for he is the devil in furry form! Nmenth 291 Posted February 17, 2009 (edited) Of course Luk3us has a serious god-complex, so avoid paying him too much heed as well. ...ignore the quote in my signature, I can explain that. I won't, but I can. Edited February 17, 2009 by Nmenth Share this post Link to post

Mighty BOB! 5 Posted February 18, 2009 Hi. And what are the rest of your hardware specifications? You wouldn't want to buy a bitchin' kick-ass new video card only to have it be incompatible with your current hardware. Also at the same time if your current computer is a turd, buying a new graphics card might only make it a turd with a graphics card on top (depending on what the other hardware is). When I bought my new graphics card, and after my computer died, I discovered my power supply wasn't built to handle it. I later found out it was actually a faulty graphics card that caused it to die and it was replaced for free, but I still had to get a new power supply to handle it properly. WELCOME! Avoid everyone on this list, keep off the grass and don't feed the Luk3us. The predicted fury maniac spouting random propaganda. Although I wouldn't really call it random, this is pretty standardized now... Edited February 18, 2009 by Nmenth Share this post Link to post

Malevolence 6 Posted February 18, 2009 Howdy new guy. I hope your purpose here isn't just asking about graphic cards recommendations and then disappear. please stay! Recommendations for the graphics card at cheap prices... Nvidia: try 9600GT or pay a little more for 9800GTX (or GTS250...which is the same as 9800GTX with a repackaging and renaming) ATI: try 4850 Mid range Nvidia: GTX260 series ATI: HD4870 series It'll be better if you could try to lay out the specs of your computer. Everything. It'll help to figure what else you could upgrade to play newer games. Share this post Link to post

Nmenth 291 Posted February 18, 2009 (edited) FURRY! Not fury! How hard is it to add that extra R? I was actually mimicking Luk3us there, so it was his spelling, not mine. You don’t think I would make such a typo? Be warned a furry maniac will soon arrive spouting random propaganda, do not be fooled by his trickery, for he is the devil in furry form! As you can see, in the section I was pseudo-quoting, he skips the 'R' (which he might fix later, claiming he doesn't see anything wrong as is his Can-Do-No-Wrong self-imagery). However, when comparing you to the devil, he then has the second 'R'. Edited February 18, 2009 by Luk3us Hiding the evidence! Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted February 18, 2009 You don’t think I would make such a typo? As a matter of fact, I do think you'd make that typo. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted February 18, 2009 As a matter of fact, I do think you'd make that typo. Alright, I'll admit that I didn't notice it was spelled wrong, however, I copy/pasted what Luk3us had written and then deleted some of the words, so I didn't actually write it that way. Honestly that was the only reason why i even registered here. But seeing as everyone is freindly, and gave me some good advice i'll stick around here. Btw, i know what a cinamon stick is...no thanks. Dont know a damn thing about the hardware on my computer. I have an Acer Aspire which i originally bought for school work, if that helps, which i really dont think it will. And i've been in and still am in forums that consist of nothing but off topic spam, trolls, and spamming scat all over rival forums. ...and chose my name for a reason. Im not born in 1978' though...more like 1990. If you're a Misfits fan you'll understand it. This one seems pretty calm to me so i'll to my part to keep it this way. And there's my full serious introduction. Share this post Link to post

Malevolence 6 Posted March 6, 2009 Before you decide to change a graphics card, its important to know your current PSU ( ? watts) and if possible, I would want to know the stats of your PC. If you do not know how to do it, google CPU-Z, download the compressed file, and simple copy paste at your desktop and open it, then take a screenshot and post it here. I want to know because, if your processor is below Pentium 4, I suggest its time to replace your rig with a current platform. Share this post Link to post

I want to know because, if your processor is below Pentium 4, I suggest its time to replace your rig with a current platform. I have no clue how to do any of that. I've been trying to figure it out for the past 2 days to find the CPU-Z and i couldn't find it. This computer really wasn't meant for video games anyway. I honestly think the best bet I have is just buying a new platform for gaming. There was a few 2008 HP laptops for half of at a local store around here. How are lap tops with pc games? Malevolence 6 Posted March 9, 2009 Here. Unzip, copy paste everything in the zip file onto your desktop. Click on the .exe file and you see your specs, take a screenie and send to me. Btw if you are getting a new rig for gaming I do not recommend a laptop. Laptops aren't designed primarily for gaming. There are some gaming laptops around, but if you afford such a gaming laptop, I suggest you could use that sum on a better performance computer. Its the issue of how much you want to spend on a new rig (not counting cost for monitor mouse and keyboard). Share this post Link to post
