Yeah I like Lion's post, but the comments after it just went way over the top.

 

I guess the CNC Saga/C&C Files post kboshes the idea of a moveable UI.

Yeah Lion's post at CNC Den is bang on. Sums up things perfectly. Oh I should have warned you to ignore the rest of the garbage from the comments though.

 

As for the Crawler info at CNC Saga/C&C Files. Its simply assessing what can be seen in the screens/scans.

Well, to be honest, both icons look almost the same, so I'd take the CnCSaga article and its translation with a grain of salt.

Too Early To Judge C&C4?

With the release of new screenshots and info taken from the French magazine PC Jeux over the weekend, C&C fans are weighing in on their first thoughts of this new info they've aquired. I think it's safe to say that many C&C fans are disapointed, some are shocked, a few actually like what they've seen, and a small handful are reserving judgement until they get some clarification from the C&C4 dev team.

 

Anyhoot, one of the biggest complaints so far is the absence of Tiberium in the screenshots. The reason for that could be very simple, as I explain below.

 

If you read the reference to the storyline, Kane contacts GDI and forms the "Tiberium Network Control", which makes it possible to control the expansion of tiberium and to channel it to make it an infinite and inexpensive energy source. Hence no sight of Tiberium in those screenies as the control system is in place. Perhaps as the story progresses and later down the road we get some new screenshots, Tiberium will turn up and we'll see it's devastating affects.

 

There's also a few other complaints:

 

-Graphics in the screenshots look horrible. Obviously C&C4 is a long way from being polished (I hope), plus they ARE scans of pictures that are in a magazine. Wait for some real screenshots.

-The UI (user interface) is layed out where the bar is on the bottom in one of the screenshots, split into three sections. Perhaps we will be able to drag n drop the bar and put it on the right side? I prefer the right side as I use a widscreen monitor. We'll have to wait for confirmation from EA on this issue.

-Unlimited and instant respawning of Crawlers. Will this make them less game critical? We'll have to wait for more info on that one.

-The gameplay described so far doesn't resemble past Command & Conquer games, but we don't have enough info to know for sure just how much EA plans on changing the game mechanics.

 

So to sum it up, basically what we have are our first set of magazine scans, and a little more info to go on. But we're at least 8 months away from a release of C&C4, so a lot can happen between now and then. This week we'll get a look at the first trailer for C&C4, plus a lot more magazines will be on sale with C&C4 info, but most likely the same set of screenshots, and basically the same info. Just keep an open mind for now and wait n see what unfolds as time goes on as we don't know what is set in stone as yet.

 

First of all, I ignore the rest of the comments, very difficult to read, maybe its the format and the layout, no offense, I just didn't read the comments.

 

Ok to Lion's post. Very sensible post.

 

I love such posts pointing out the bad stuff, WITH good suggestions/ideas to back up/sum up the whole talk.

 

Ok, Lion mentioned about the absence of Tiberium. Yes the logic of "Tiberium Network Control" makes some sense (maybe not), I have a simpler possible answer to it.

Because... EALA dev team are not ready with the models and textures of the new C&C4 tiberium, hence couldn't place them in the alpha screenshots. That simple.

 

Graphics point... ok we've (CNC forums) talk about that.

UI point... as I suggested that drag menu bar concept too. So it looks like I'm not the only C&C fan who wish to see drag menu bars concept. Who's with me, peeps?

Unlimited and instant respawning of Crawlers point, same as Lion, I will not dwell into that just yet until I know how the new changes of the gameplay will be like.

 

For me, in conclusion, yes the fans may be over-reacting and such. But hey, its a GOOD thing. Shows how passionate the fans are, we'll have to wait and see how the game's going be like with more info out later in due time

It's also referring to some of my negative feedback I wrote in the Den, and also the thread of "C&C4 losing its seriousness?" I opened. Yeap, it is quite very shameful, and it is too early to judge C&C4 like Lion said, but what EA delivers in the magazine was a bad idea, I thought it's going to be a brand new game, but instead it becomes more like receiving brand new stuff for C&C3 or an expansion after Kane's Wrath.

It is a brand new game- the gameplay sounds revolutionary.

 

In approximately 3 days or so we'll be seeing more, and hope to see some new gameplay in action in the trailer.

I agree 100% with Lion, people need to wait for more and give the game some time..

by those (ugly) images from the scans you can see (or hope) the game in an alpha stage(or pre-alpha)..

btw- I cant wait for the trailer! hoping we will see some characters in it and gameplay.

This whole crawler thing is a good idea, but making it completly replace basebuilding just aint

 

They should make it an extra game mode

 

 

But lets not jump to conclusions to fast :v

I would love that! To have 2 different types of possible game modes in a C&C would add a lot of re-playability value :D

 

 

There's plenty of Tiberium, just not in the first batch of screenshots ;)

Maybe it's limited how many times it can respawn.
