C&C 4 Unit Profile - Nod Salamander

Recommended Posts

A new Command & Conquer 4 unit profile has been posted on the Official C&C Site. And this one gives us a look at our first Nod unit, the Salamander. And as always this profile features a short in game video, concept art and extra information. Here is a sample....

Kane's tenuous alliance with GDI during the period of TCN construction marked an era of relative peace for both factions. While certain Nod splinter elements continued a campaign of violence throughout the civilized world, the majority of Nod's true followers complied with Kane's call for peace. Knowing that "idle hands are the devil's playground," Kane ordered his most ambitious generals to work with his devious cadre of scientists to prepare the next generation of weapons. This program, known as Project Omega, resulted in the most technologically stunning creations ever fielded by man, the Salamander among them.

Project Omega's Chief Engineer, Abbot John W.E. Vladislav, was one of the key minds behind the Tiberium Contol Network's design. His reverse-engineering of the chemical processes used in the creation of many Scrin materials and power sources represented a quantum leap in military weapon evolution. Nod weapons would be tougher, lighter, and faster, yet their modular construction allowed them to be created quickly, and at low cost. Advanced hardware like the Salamander was created and tested in massive, secret, underground facilities, and kept hidden away until a time when Kane would call upon them to serve the Brotherhood.

This is my new favorite unit in the game. I feel like I am going to be a support class type of player anyway. :D

This would have been a good unit for their Name a Unit games. It is an eye-catcher, a unit you might actually care about, and salamanders crawl on the ground anyway-they don't fly (even the mythological ones bathed in fire that this unit is undoubtedly named for).

Cyborgs controllign the weapons system? This sounds me like APOC has been reading some 40k stuff about the Adeptus Mechanicus and their servitors, anyway, the unit profile seems really cool, great job!

APOC doesn't write the profiles or create the unit ideas and their back stories.

For the unit profiles, I single-handedly create the unit videos you see on the page. This takes some very precious time in Worldbuilder with scripting and getting it "just right". I really spend time trying to make the unit videos display the units capabilities in the simplest fashion, glad you guys love them. Scriptin ain't easy!

The unit profiles are written by our esteemed Sam Bass, Jason Bender, and Keith Co. They trade off, all aligned on our fiction, etc.

And yes, that was a nod to our good friend Mr. JohnWE

We'll have about 25-30 up by the launch of C&C 4.

Is there a particular unit you would like to see profiled? I've got my list, but maybe there is one in particular you'd like to know some backstory on....

I would suggest the bloody fantastic looking Kodiak or the new Hurricane( if it is called this way its this one http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Hurricane )

Both seem VERY intresting aircraft in the support GDI arsenal :)

Nice unit profiles APOC, Keep em coming

What I find interesting is the example of counters shown in the video...

eg How ineffective rockets are against the Salamander

I believe the best counter against these things will be ships of its same class.

Maybe mass spamming of aircraft can take them down. This was shown in C&C3. Planetary carriers and Devastors where pretty effective, but where unable to defend themselfs against lots of venom crafts and flocks of Firehawks

LOL, "Project Omega's Chief Engineer, Abbot John W.E. Vladislav", John W.E.? Wow.

And yes, that was a nod to our good friend Mr. JohnWE

Man I'm slow, I read the entire profile and didn't even notice that

Yeap, a pun of JohnWE when I read that. Damn, he's lucky to have his nickname featured. :)

Anyway, APOC, I would like to see the new Nod Stratobomber, wow, that B2-Spirit like aircraft interests me. Let's have a look, shall we?
