Luk3us 63 Posted March 21, 2010 Yeah, epic ****ing fail. Sam Bass should be shot and hung for this ATROCIOUS piece of rubbish that is C&C4. This is meant to be the end for Kane. No more Kane, he has ascended and moved on. But they didn't tell us anything new! He's an alien, he's been here for thousands of years. Thats it. We don't know how he came to be here, or why, and we sure don't know what ascension actually means. I know in a good story not everything should be explained, but this isn't a good story. ITS CRAP. C&C3, now at least that had a half decent plot that made sense and rumbled along at an even pace. C&C4, just horrible. Remember when EA said they wouldn't do any more "fade to white" endings? Yeah, I guess the guy that said that was fired. Along with the entire writing staff, cause this was truly horrible. Closure, that was all I was asking for and instead I get this. No answers, just more questions, same bull****, different name. Finally, I end with a picture, because pictures make everything better. Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted March 21, 2010 I've seen students and mods come up with better things than this. Seriously, this is amateur work. This is by far the worst game that has ever had the C&C title. There is ZERO closure! None! None at all! Jesus christ just bury the damn franchise already. C&C died after Firestorm. You know the all white "set" in the last cutscenes? That represents the EMPTY VOID inside the writers' minds. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted March 21, 2010 Sonic, what do you have to say about this? I'll post my comments after him. Share this post Link to post
Sabotagespy 0 Posted March 21, 2010 Cn'C games are one of the few games I buy, and this game is atrocious in so many ways...Put it on ebay... Share this post Link to post
Publix666 0 Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) Lol Luk3us epic picto story there. Ah, i cant help but to feel sorry for everyone who has actually bought that game. Few days ago i traded in my PS3 copies of Dragon Age and Awakenings because of yet another EPIC EA fail that is Awakenings, saw C&C 4 sitting on the shelf, and just sighed. Im glad i listened to my gut and didnt buy it, sure i miss the end of the series, but from everything ive read, im not missing much of anything. EDIT - Guess Hitler isnt too pleased either. Check out the YouTube vid below to see his reaction. Edited March 21, 2010 by Publix666 Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 21, 2010 Hmm, upon reflection I might have be slightly harsh on the treatment of C&C4. Its still bad but just, ugh. There are good aspects, its just hard to see them with so much crap cluttering up the show. Ah, i cant help but to feel sorry for everyone who has actually bought that game. Few days ago i traded in my PS3 copies of Dragon Age and Awakenings because of yet another EPIC EA fail that is Awakenings I actually quite liked Awakenings, sure its buggy and kinda short and expensive, but I it was good for what it was. It was still longer than most games I play these days. Share this post Link to post
ghost_zero 0 Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) I totally agree with the topic starter. This doesn't answer anything at all, it just gives new questions. Furthermore, the whole compaign had no plot at all. There were only two more interesting cutscenes in between the missions (or something like this) but the missions themselves were pretty senseless or let's say I didn't have much interest in doing them story-wise. I just hoped that in the in-between cutscenes they will reveal something that wasn't clear. Of course, I already thought a while if I should buy it at all because the whole new concept wasn't really interesting to me from the start (especially, since it has lost everything that made a C&C a C&C title, not to mention the need for an Internet connection) but then I decided to buy it because it is the last title from the Kane story (though I already had my doubts when I heard that Kane is proposing an alliance between Nod and GDI and even wants to stop the Tiberium from spreading further - because previously he always tried to increase it but, of course, now that he has the Scrin tower he might not require that part anymore but still and alliance with GDI?) and I really wanted to know how it will end and various revelations BUT this game didn't even have that. Actually, I am not even sure if the story is better than the one from Supreme Commander 2 and that one wasn't too good BUT the issue here was mostly that the different campaigns weren't to good connected story-wise (mostly an issue with telling the story - well that was better in C&C4 with the videos, of course) but regarding the story itself I think C&C4 might have had the worse one. Personally, I don't even think that this is definitely the end of the Kane saga. After all Kane could still come back - maybe with reinforcements - , the end was that he want through a portal (more or less like what happened at the end of the Scrin campaign in C&C3). TheBlackOut 6 Posted March 23, 2010 Sam Bass, I knew he was crappy from the moment I read and played his video interviews when C&C3 started appearing in the news. But yea, C&C3 was OKAY. So far I've gotten into the first few missions for Nod and god is it not only slow gameplay wise for me, it's so boring and stupid from the plot/FMV standpoint. The directing has no style, Kane has lost his entire old edge of what made him a total badass in the past games, the whole thing is just gone. I don't really see the point in continuing to play to see the end because I knew it'd probably suck.. now you guys just are confirming it. Why didn't they allow Joe to direct and hire a good story writer? The material was already there to go off of! Sigh. Sad to see C&C hit this low for me. It was fun while Westwood was at the helm. I wonder what once C&C is gone Joe Kucan will honest say about his experience with these recent C&C games. I can't help but think he knows they're disappointing. Share this post Link to post
CCHyper 3 Posted March 23, 2010 I just this minute finished the campaign, and like, where did it go?! The ending FMV was shorter than the opening FMV, and i mean, could they not have rendered something a bit better? Even with the cuts EA had, the community could have done better! I liked the game, the FMVs where going strong, i enjoyed the gameplay. But the ending was a complete, and utter, **** in C&C fans face!! Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted March 23, 2010 Now, Luk3us. We don't know for sure that Sam Bass is responsible for the story writing of C&C4, except for the art and map designs. Besides I have yet to play the game. Sure I am positive that Kane is still alive after C&C4 because.... he's still the Messiah. Of course, most people who criticized Sam Bass sure wants him fired, but he's still working in EALA. I may have some disagreements with him, but that doesn't mean he should be laid off just for these reasons why C&C4 is bad. Just remember why deadlines made the EALA team roaming through the development of C&C4 and then have most of the guys who finished their work get laid off. Share this post Link to post

Luk3us 63 Posted March 24, 2010 Now, Luk3us. We don't know for sure that Sam Bass is responsible for the story writing of C&C4, except for the art and map designs. He referred to himself on multiple occasions as the "Lore Master", and from various interviews he's done, he was heavily involved in development. So if there is a singular person I'd blame for the abhorrent SP experience, it would be him. But I do agree, that to ruin C&C4 so thoroughly as they have, it took a group effort. sith_wampa 6 Posted March 24, 2010 Unfortunately, this all can be traced back to the fact that corporate EA only allows 18 months (or whatever it is) for production times. Who knows what they could have or would have come up with if the team had more time and resources to work with. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted April 16, 2010 Aah funny pic Luk3us. Lady boots... ah I was trying to figure how to describe the pixie shoes... that's as good an explanation as any. Nothing new for me to add... so I'll move along. I saw a funny quote on the forums which went something along this line: Where is the achievement to unlock the real ending of C&C4? recover 2 Posted April 17, 2010 I just finished the campaign and I agree 100%. They said that there wouldn't be a bright light in the end like C&C3, but isn't that exactly what we got? I wanted to know who and what Kane was god damnit. Why was he here? We got none of these answers. Rubbish. Share this post Link to post
