Command & Conquer: Arena Concepts

There is still lots of confusion about what Command & Conquer: Arena actually was. Most fans have speculated that Command & Conquer: Arena eventually became Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight , while other people suggest it was an entirely different project that has never seen the light of day or something that may have been cancelled. We have never really been given a look at the early designs for Command & Conquer: Arena, until today. Check out this gallery of possible Command & Conquer: Arena Concepts. is it only me that sees in this image the Terran Baracks CGI Cinematic interior from starcraft 2????

 

here again! maybe those arent drawing those are copied from sc2 and then tried to make a CnC MMO and used some of the sc2 bacground arts to give a feeling of cnc lol

 

or the guy who created those backgrounds actually later or before was at Blizzard

now that i saw all the images c on is this a joke? they use Blizzard Art to make CnC? wtf?

here they even promote sc2 screenshot!

i guess Arena was a bad clone of Battle.net 2 project, thats all.

Yes, the art is from StarCraft II.

But it's only concept art. Yes, it's pretty lousy to copy like that but I'm sure it was only to inspire and flesh out the final art direction.

 

I can't believe I'm defending EA. Oh, well. But it's really the artists fault.

Yeah others have pointed that out on the Official C&C Forums. Existor made this post regarding it, and the authenticity of these images.

 

This is not fake.

 

This guy works for blizzard and EA-games, who starts develop C&C Arena and closed it too (I think, before C&C4 and after C&C3, because in one of early cnc4-betabuilds in credits we had CNC Arena picture)

I don't know what seems so bad about it, it's just concept art, admittedly the art is pretty copy-pasted but there isn't much to see what the gameplay would have been like.

Starcraft 2 images or not, this one is all about seriousness and it'll work well when the serious concept pictures are replaced by their own.

 

But anyway, C&C as an MMO is so no good & it's a no go! We do not want another fraud just like EA pulled off their C&C4. C&C must remain as an RTS (Not RTT), whether if the old school gameplay stays or replaced by something new as a reboot.

Well then you wouldn't have enjoyed what your beloved Westwood were planning then a few years ago. Google C&C Continuum, it was a proposed MMORTS hybrid that never got the official go ahead.

These are nothing but very simple concepts on some interface, where things are just mashed together to give a feeling of how it could turn out.

But I find it akwkward to see that the artist chose Starcraft II images as background sketches for a C&C game interface

I would have bought it because it was C&C. The same reason I bought (or will eventually buy) all the other ones made by EA. However, I do believe that Westwood could have put out a far superior C&C MMO compared to EA. Their track records speak.
