Gben 20 Posted February 9, 2011 http://au.gamespot.com/news/6298295.html StarCraft and Warcraft-themed amusement park constructed in China Concept art of Joyland World's Universe of StarCraft sub-park. 'Joyland World' slated to open doors next month Starcraft and Warcraft fans in China have a lot to celebrate in the upcoming months. An amusement park called Joyland World will be built and will contain sub-parks with rides and attractions based on the hit RTS and hit MMORPG. Said sub-parks will be divided into five parts: Island of Mystery, Terrain of Warcraft, Universe of StarCraft, World of Legend, and Molesworld. The park will also have an e-Sports center and game museum. According to the Joyland website, the park will be built in the Wujin district and will open its doors on March 2011. While concept art for the theme park is available from the site itself, there are photos of the park site, specifically from the tieba.baidu.com forums. It should also be noted that initial reports state the park isn't officially-endorsed by Blizzard. A picture of one of the rides under construction, taken last month. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted February 9, 2011 Why not? As long as it has some cool rides the theme means little. Share this post Link to post

PurpleGaga27 40 Posted February 10, 2011 Really? I'll bet if Bliizard gets too jealous on knowing this, they'll sue China for that theme park without a licensed permission. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted February 10, 2011 I'll bet if Bliizard gets too jealous on knowing this, they'll sue China for that theme park without a licensed permission. Since when does China care? Sums that up nicely. Also, I like how you're back, purplescrin. You didn't fool me for a minute. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted February 10, 2011 Also, I like how you're back, purplescrin. You didn't fool me for a minute. I retired that name since I already hated and disliked it. So I did not go back to the old account. Obviously there wasn't even a setting that can change to a different nickname on my old account (most forums don't do this), except that Moddb did have that type of setting. I apologize for that and I am sorry for my farewell lies. I came back because some veteran guys such as Zee Hypontist has returned to the forums, and also for releasing C&C mods in threads. Yes, it took you more than a month to figure that out since I logged and posted in here. Share this post Link to post

Love the line that the company is suing the nation... Now I wonder if in straight out street brawl, the blizzard acolytes would prevail over the Chinese standing army! Share this post Link to post

Sonic 296 Posted February 11, 2011 I'll bet if Bliizard gets too jealous on knowing this, they'll sue China for that theme park without a licensed permission. Can a large software company even sue an entire country? Probably not. I retired that name since I already hated and disliked it. So I did not go back to the old account. Obviously there wasn't even a setting that can change to a different nickname on my old account (most forums don't do this) We have the setting disabled. If you let members keep changing names it gets to confusing. However you could have sent me a PM and I would have considered changing your name. In some cases we (the admins) will do it. I came back because some veteran guys such as Zee Hypontist has returned to the forums 1 post from Zee doesn't make him "back". So don't hold your breath. Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted February 11, 2011 Can a large software company even sue an entire country? Probably not. I doubt that it's the state of China that is behind the themepark. Besides I think the heads at Blizzard would appreciate such a project. And welcome back Purplescrin.. I guess lol... Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted February 12, 2011 Blizzard might, Activision will most likely be frothing at the mouth on lost 'potentional' revenue. You know, because they're evil. Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted February 12, 2011 Blizzard might, Activision will most likely be frothing at the mouth on lost 'potentional' revenue. You know, because they're evil. The public attention alone is worth more than the park revenue itself in my opinion. After this, every modern Chinese citizen will know what StarCraft is, and China has a somewhat large population eh? Think about it. A theme park reaches a very broad audience, It's the perfect opportunity for Activision to reach into the somewhat media isolated heart of China. Almost everyone associates theme parks with fun, thrills and good times. Share this post Link to post

Almost everyone associates theme parks with fun, thrills and good times. I doubt it... Disney parks don't really seem to generate interest in their movies. Only people that already like the theme will care about the theme, to everyone else, it's just an amusement park. And the profits they could make off royalties would surely outweigh the free advertising. China is just stealing more cash off their lucrative counterfeiting businesses and laughing at how laws only apply to those that choose to obey them. Share this post Link to post
