Luk3us 63 Posted March 2, 2011 http://www.ea.com/crysis-2/1/demo You can download it now for PC or Xbox. I gave it a whirl before, it feels a little clunky would be my first impression, but I'm still getting used to it. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted March 2, 2011 Pretty awesome stuff I tried just now. Is the sliding ability disabled in this demo? Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 2, 2011 No, when running just hold C down, and you'll slide. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted March 2, 2011 Getting Crysis 2 for the Xbox 360 so no need to download this PC demo. Share this post Link to post
Chronojam 3 Posted March 6, 2011 Enginewise this is an abortion, at least for the PC. I'm thoroughly underwhelmed with what I've seen so far. Worse, the assholes responsible will surely blame piracy for low PC sales. Really, "Adjust your TV if it's too dark" on the brightness control? Way to half ass your port. DirectX nine in 2011 for a AAA retail title? What the hell are they thinking. Share this post Link to post
Plok 323 Posted March 6, 2011 DirectX nine in 2011 for a AAA retail title? What the hell are they thinking. Not everyone has Win7 and its DX11, Jam Even Starcraft II has support for DX9 (and it crashed 90% of the time on my PC during this summer) Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 6, 2011 I personally thought the graphics looked pretty good, as for not offering DX10/11 support yeah that kinda sucks. I love how the demo starts off though... "Press Start button"... Yeah kinda shows who got the priority this time around. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted March 6, 2011 Yeah Crysis 2 has been developed for Xbox 360 and PS3, I think its rather clear. Besides Crytek have been pissed about the PC market since Crysis. PC gaming is dying a slow horrible death I feel. But that's just my opinion. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) Quite a lot happened in regards to Crysis 2. First we have the multiplayer demo, which was awesome, I've never really so into FPS but this is just wow. Yea found myself hooked to it almost everyday. Then the beta leak. I've came across bits and pieces of video clips circulated around and everybody's talking about it, I'm quite impressed, and I'm actually considering getting a copy of the finalized retail product to support Crytek and play. And the most crazy DirectX9 news. It doesn't mean that Crysis 2 will be only DirectX9, there will be DirectX11 ready in a few days after the games release, so pray hard Crytek doesn't screw up too badly. And the soundtrack. Gosh I'm so surprised nobody is talking about it here. It's by Hans Zimmer, and the tracks' legendary! Edited March 6, 2011 by Malevolence Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 6 Posted March 6, 2011 Yeah Crysis 2 has been developed for Xbox 360 and PS3, I think its rather clear. Besides Crytek have been pissed about the PC market since Crysis. PC gaming is dying a slow horrible death I feel. But that's just my opinion. I was under that opinion too until this. Crysis, the first one, flopped because it was a bland and pretty ****ty game MP wise. Nothing too exciting except for 'OMG IT LOOKS PURDY' but it was poorly optimized. So why buy a game that ran pretty crappy and wasn't really even that fun to play? Obviously people didn't.. and they blame piracy, lol. Pathetic. Battlefield 3, that's where my hope is lying. That is being developed with the PC in mind and that makes me happy Share this post Link to post
Tore 33 Posted March 7, 2011 PC gaming is dying a slow horrible death I feel. But that's just my opinion. Actually PC gaming is on the rise again. And with the news that BF3 will cater more to PC than consoles got my hopes up as well. Not to mention the heaps of nice "indie" PC titles coming out, like Men of War Assault Squad and Vietnam. And games like Arma 2. I also remember something about Crytek releasing new modding tools for Crysis 2 as well. PC gaming is far from dying. The increasing popularity of "The Gathering" in Hamar is also proof of that. last year about 5200 people came there. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 9, 2011 PC 'dying' is just one of those things people say, it doesn't actually mean anything, but it gets said alot. A patch came out for the demo today, not entirely sure what it changed except on PC it now asks you to press ENTER to play. Instead of hte 'start' button. I thought that was pretty funny. Malevolence 6 Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Any of you preordering limited edition or the expensive nano edition, or getting a normal copy later? Edited March 13, 2011 by Malevolence Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 13, 2011 You can only get the limited edition here and its the 'usual' price. I saw the nano edition but its a bit expensive for a bag that I would honestly never use, but it looks nice. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted March 13, 2011 I was tempted by the Nano Edition, and guess what, I pre-ordered it! OMG! Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted March 13, 2011 Pass. First one sucked, this will too. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted March 13, 2011 Nah, too expensive in my opinion for what you get. Though I'll admit I'd like one of those action figures, I have a whole bunch of them sitting on my computer now. Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted March 21, 2011 I expect to be blown away single player wise. But like I said, only time will tell if it succeeds in MP and tears Halo: Reach and COD: Black Ops from the grubby hands of MP addicts (like me!). Of course, there's Battlefield 3, which will most certainly be my second, if not best, MP game... I mean, is there any doubt that Dice will succeed? Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted March 21, 2011 I'm sure I read somewhere that it has a 13 hour SP campaign. If that's true, that's huge compared to some recent FPS games. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted March 21, 2011 Pass. First one sucked, this will too. The above. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 6 Posted March 21, 2011 I thought the first one's SP was kinda weak but I had a lot of fun in it, just the MP sucked hard. The demo wasn't really that fun, I'll wait for the price to drop and buy it to play the SP. It's definitely not worth full price IMO. Share this post Link to post
Tore 33 Posted March 21, 2011 Pass. First one sucked, this will too. It had amazing graphics...though only people with wallets housing black holes could really see it... I find the multiplayer in Crysis 2 surprisingly fun. It's been a long time since I've played a FPS feeling like a super soldier...last time was "Halo Combat Evolved".... Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted March 22, 2011 @Sonic: 13 hours in what difficulty? > @Tore: Halo:CE? Then play reach. It's a lot like CE, imo, but with significant changes. Crysis was fun. Crysis 2 probably would be. Meh, I'd play it for the eye-candy and the action, not for the MP. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted March 22, 2011 @Sonic: 13 hours in what difficulty? > No idea. I noticed it in passing. I've been try to avoid all media coverage of the game. Share this post Link to post
rSquar3d 0 Posted March 22, 2011 I bet it's probably in the highest difficulty... Unless they made the game have a long SP campaign, plus with puzzles. The longest I had was 60+ hours with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but that includes all the side quests and all the walking involved in that game. I think the longest campaign I played lasted about, what, 10 hours or so (but that doesn't include breaks yet, so, yeah). Share this post Link to post
