Duke Nukem Forever Delayed... Again

Recommended Posts

The most delyaed game in history, Duke Nukem Forever has been delayed again. But at least Gearbox have a sense of humour about it.

Duke Nukem Forever Delayed

Brian Ashcraft — The game was supposed to be out this May, but won't be. It's been delayed. Again.

"I'm very sorry for the added delay. We've all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you," said Pitchford in an official statement.

"I've been thinking of these lyrics from the great country song, 'He's The Duke' - 'He told us if we waited we could Come Get Some, but I never knew Forever was going to be so long.' If you're like me, June cannot come quickly enough."

The release date was changed from May 3 (May 6 for outside the U.S.) to June 14 for the States and June 10 (for the international release).

Delayed numerous times, Duke Nukem has been in development since 1997. Gearbox Software took over development duties from the title's creator, 3D Realms, in 2009.

But I'm not that interested in this bad boy so I don't really care, as long as it comes out..... Eventually. :P

What a sweet package there Sonic. Worth waiting (forever?) for.

The delay sucks, but nice way to announce it nonetheless :P

Great. Now I will have more time to play DN 3D to prepare. And... I won't get in trouble because I played it too much instead of studying.

Yeah, but lots of people can have balls of steel, I'd think he would have balls of plutonium. :nuke::nuke:

(That is just not right...)

Yeah, it's still hard to believe it's that close to publishing. EVEN BEFORE APOC RISING, MAN! :o

Some people say this delayed announcement is an early April Fool's joke. As I said in another forum, I bet Gearbox is on Valve time once again.

Now as for Duke Nukem Forever, if that game winds up similar to Starcraft II with no significant improvement after more than 15 years, I will not take the deal to play that game.

U MAD??????? :o

Starcraft II is an awesome improvement to Starcraft I!!! I was never a real fan of the series, but Starcraft II is much better than its predecessor in the way of telling the campaign story and its non-linear structure (haven't played the skirmishes, though).

Duke Nukem Forever is going to end up being a throwback to the old school 90's shooters. I don't want an improved Duke Nukem.

Also, on Starcraft II, I didn't like it too much. Great story but the single campaign for only one race threw me off quite a bit.

Despite all improvements in SC2 I still like SC1 better, both campaign, skirmish, storytelling and mostly the artistic design.

In true Activision/EA franchise milking style the other campaigns will come in expansion packs.

It can't be Duke Nukem Forever without a delay! :P

I hope there will be a lot of secret places in DNF! :D

If EA milking franchises was true, then there would be a Dante's Inferno 3 and a Dead Space 4 already.

Ever heard of EA Sports games? FIFA has had release every year since 1993.

A similar release trend also happened to the recent C&C titles, in fact C&C has been "milked" since 1995 with a few breaks.

C&C3 (2007), Kane's Wrath (2008), RA3 (2009), Uprising (2009), C&C4 (2010)

Activision is more active in the franchise milking business though :P

Any you will probably by paying full price for those expansions as well.

Its only one more month. And at least Gearbox set a new release date. In the old days, 3D Realms never gave any dates. Just false promises.

C&C3 (2007), Kane's Wrath (2008), RA3 (2009), Uprising (2009), C&C4 (2010)

RA3 was released in October 2008 actually.

  • C&C3 (March 2007)
  • Kane's Wrath (March 2008)
  • RA3 (October 2008)
  • Uprising (March 2009)
  • C&C4 (March 2010)

Nah, it's better to wait a Battle Chest pack for Blizzard games. SCII:WoL is still expensive over here in Croatia and doesn't mean to lower its price. (420 HRK compared to the regular 350 HRK when other full-budget games are released)

Plokite, I'd say Starcraft II is one of the very few games that are well worth the cost.

I tried it a bit myself. I never actually had some love for Blizzard games, except for an occasional Warcraft III hiccup. SC2 has a unique campaign style, but the missions get kinda boring (same as SC1) and some of them remind me unexplainably of WC3.

I don't want to spit on Starcraft or anything, but it's just not for me.
