Gben 20 Posted May 3, 2011 The one thing I was hoping for was to see the portal used in a more open environment... where background clutter stops you making a portal rather than an artifical surface coating that could or could not allow you make portals... I'm talking about the illusion of free choice or 'open world environment'. There was some of that in this game but numerical lack of portal locations limits the feeling of free will. If/when they make a Portal 3 - I would really like them to take the dynamic out of the test chamber. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted May 3, 2011 Portal isn't about roaming around. It's about solving the puzzle. And honestly, free roam games can get boring really quickly. The only fun part of free roamers is ****ing around. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted May 4, 2011 Yes... but I'm talking about the illusion of free will. A puzzle hidden in plane sight... restrictions that are simply more than lack of applicable surfaces... but a perhaps a few red herrings... I'm looking for a puzzle that doesn't 'look' like a test chamber... . . . Changing focus - I booted up the original to mess around. I don't really feel like I did much falling in Portal 2. I know there were a few high drops... but no chains of portals from high altitudes which you need create portal #3 and portal #4 on the 'fly' so to speak. The were long jumps... but no weird complicated chains. Actually the final battle was neither difficult to achieve or difficult to work out... which was disapointing. The actual resolution was satisfying though. I felt like the puzzles weren't complicated to executive or decipher in retrospect. (even though I needed help on 1 map). Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted May 4, 2011 Freeman's crowbar is the best FPS weapon ever! Going back to that... Freeman's crowbar is probably made of styrofoam. Seriously. Do you see the speed with which he can handle that thing? You try doing that with a real crowbar. Share this post Link to post
