Saracen 16 Posted September 4, 2004 This Tiberian Twilight crap we keep getting is driving me up the wall now. So many times has little timmy called "wolf!" and we've come running, only to be disappointed, well to be honest this latest story I'm did not wanna know when I read it... I'm sick of the C&C 3 hype, and I don't care now! When it's official, when it's definate, once it's physically on the eagames.com web page will I even begin to open my eyes to this game now. Until that day comes I will not breathe an air of excitement, or even show interest in C&C 3. I'm not interested in C&C 3 until then, and not a second before! So what do you guys think... now that's off my chest  Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted September 4, 2004 I am gettin a bit confused about every single one of these rumours, heck...I dont even know if its C&C 3 or TT anymore, all I hope is that one of them will come out as a game Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted September 4, 2004 C&C1 = Tib Dawn C&C2 = Tib Sun C&C 3 = Tib Twilight Simple! This isn't a new rumour at-all, we already knew what this Australian site has posted. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted September 5, 2004 Never trust Australians... They stupid. Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted September 5, 2004 One things which is real for sure is, the screenshots of CNC 3 looks weird. It more looks like StarCraft than CnC games. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted September 5, 2004 From a news for the site point of view its ok, keeps things semi-interesting on the front page. Gives us something to debate as well. However, I'm sick of rumours, fake screen shots. Why can't EA simply just confirm C&C 3 for us  Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted September 5, 2004 It's all to do with sales, profits and target marketing. Basically if EA were to announce C&C 3 tomorrow say, it could directly affect LOTR: BFME sales wise... Some potential consumers would think "we'll wait for this C&C instead of buying BFME." The next C&C will cause a storm, it will knock all attention away from their current product, and then EA will have a problem on their hands... This disasterous "Marketing Shift" would have people in the Marketing department sacked on the spot. BFME is aimed at 3 main types of consumers. The LOTR fans, RTS gamers, and EA's large community of C&C enthusiasts and fans. EA's marketing goal is to attract the first 2 groups of people, but also say that, to the C&C fans, This is what we would or could do with a future C&C game. They see it as a "Try it, buy it, if it sells well then C&C will follow the interface, game engine etc.." However if it's a mild success they will basically head back to the drawing board, and we could be stuck here at least by Early 2006 before the next C&C comes out. That's the reason Sonic they can't just say "Yes, C&C 3 is in development." I knew my business studies qualifications would come in handy some day  Share this post Link to post
chickendippers 1 Posted September 5, 2004 That's exactly whey they invited a bunch of C&C people along to their BFME fan event. Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted September 7, 2004 and had the images floating around at that time... Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted September 7, 2004 The reason why they put the images there were for Market research puposes. Perhaps the strangest way I've ever seen it done, but that undoubtably and immediately told EA that yes, C&C 3 is something everybody wants... The thing that made me laugh though is that the EA team that work on the Need for speed underground game actually asked the consumers what they wanted for number 2. Based on what the first Underground title didn't have... Now there's number 2 streamlined massively. 200 square km of city instead of 14km of road, which is all free roaming. The ability to tune the parts on your car to give the car an edge, the ability to add varying setups ICE (In Car Entertainment) and different capacities of Nitrous Oxide.. that, plus loads more...it's all in there!! And all possible by feedback from the normal everyday people who play the game on their home PCs and consoles. Now if the C&C team actually did that for C&C, then I believe that in the future C&C could become RTS king again for many many years to come. I don't mean just sales wise, but also a king in the eyes of games reviewers, C&C fans, and the really heavy and demanding RTS players. Basically, it's the path to creating the full and flawless package. It is something that codemasters did on the RTS game "Perimeter". They spoke to the public, the RTS junkies out there and asked them "What do you want in an RTS?" And the answers that stuck out really strongly were: # In depth RTS, no simple C&C run em' and gun em' tactics, real strategy with no comprimise" 27 scenario driven missions, 28 morph-able units, 24 structure types, 30 single player maps, 6 multiplayer maps, 3 unique factions # Territory control - War is all about territory and gaining it inch for inch. - Therefore the resource management in perimeter relies on energy. Energy extracted from the terraformed planets surface constantly powers the players units, buildings and force shield. Thus even squads operating far from the players base depend on their energy network. Without power buildings and bases are susceptible to capture which can turn a game in seconds. Constant energy management is vital to success. # Proper terrain structure - For the first time in RTS history the player by strategically manipulating the environment can extract energy, expand their base, increase their territory and limit their opponents options. The condition of the landscape can be changed completely by a number of influences including special units, explosions and natural geological processes. # Less of the tank churning factories - Units can be transformed into different units on the battlefield, giving the player powerful tactical opportunities to adapt combat units to a particular situation. Not all unit’s will be effective in all situations and base unit’s must be built tactically, either to focus on a sole function or to be adaptable. # A decent game engine capable of manipulating over 1 million polys per second. # And a decent storyline which I won't bother you with. But To cut the long story short, Perimeter is what the RTS junkies have been crying out for.... it's not a massive pick up and play game which C&C is... but when you focus on peoples needs and wants alot of the more hardcore RTS gamers out there want a game that has to be knuckled down to... That's why I like Earth 2150 and Imperium Galactica 2... and especially Perimeter... They are just not pick up and play game and most of all they require more than just basic strategy, they require more intensive strategy, no tank rushes, no defending until the money builds up just to do that... I love loads of buttons to press, I love having a console on the screen that allows for every concievable option available because the game has complexity... Sure BfME is quite the opposite in terms of it's interface (even though it hardly has a visible one, but I believe that there's strategy in the gameplay... it may be proved wrong... But an RTS that lives up to its name is one that undoubtably gets the views of the RTS gamer puts it in as promised, and is complex, and allows for tru and pure strategy. It is the reason I think that if C&C continues down the path of it's debut title with the simplicity. Then decides to shun the feedback of the General Public that will make it an average and unexciting game in the future. Since 1995 all we have seen is the same old concept over and over again. And that's why other RTS games will continue to surpass it. Purely because C&C is in my opinion no longer fresh, new, exciting and allows for little or if any complex strategy whatsoever. Thus is the reason why a huge handful of the community have got bored with it and uninstalled the game, moved onto mods, or bought better and more interesting RTS games for some excitment elsewhere. chickendippers 1 Posted September 8, 2004 Bah! I want pick-up-and-play. I believe that's C&C's selling point, that it appeals to the general gamer. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted September 8, 2004 Holy crap thats a long reply! So I'll just say I don't agree with you, or disagree with you. 8) Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted September 8, 2004 I like the pick-up-and-play option to. I really don't like having to click on multiple buttons to play a game. I will say one thing though, I tried the Perimeter demo and I thought it was rather good. Way more than I expected. However not enough to make me buy it, not right now anyway  EDIT: I made a mistake. The demo I tried was Ground Control 2, not Perimeter. Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Hmm.....I haven't played perimeter yet. I will need to upgrade my computer first before buying perimeter. Share this post Link to post
Thierry 0 Posted September 8, 2004 PERIMETER... ohhh I want to have that game, its out here but very expensive. it needs 5.4 GB of space and at least 512 RAM etc Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Huff......that game needs pretty good comp specification. I must buy a new HD first. Any suggestion which HD should I buy? Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Perimeter isn't that good, it's way too cramped. you have to build way too close together. it's got some good ideas mind you, but it isn't as great as some people make it out to be. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted September 8, 2004 Bases can get cramped, but at the same time they have the potential to get really damn huge. I've never really noticed, because the way I build my bases all the buildings are quite cluttered anyway. But at least they are tidy... Even if perimeter isn't good in many people's eyes, there hasn't been an RTS released in the last few years that come even close to being as good. Maybe Ground control 2 is an exception, but in terms of the base building fandango, Perimeter is the only decent one out there at the moment for me... it is a system hogger, but all the games of late have taken a huge leap with the specs, so it doesn't suprise me at all. Sonic 296 Posted September 9, 2004 PERIMETER... ohhh I want to have that game, its out here but very expensive. it needs 5.4 GB of space and at least 512 RAM etc I thought you had a recent system Thierry? I must buy a new HD first. Any suggestion which HD should I buy? Seagate drives are good. I purchased this one for my upgrades I made recently. Koen 2 Posted September 11, 2004 I think he refers to the price, which is €45, of the game. Perimeter may not be a superb game, but it does bring new concepts and has a certain flair. The only new concept we've seen in C&C's the last few years have been: - ingame FMVs (RA2/YR) - moving the sidebar to a bottombar - introducing dozers (aargh!) Share this post Link to post
