Plok 323 Posted July 12, 2013 About an hour ago, several sites, including GameIndustry.biz, have spread the news on the closure of the Phenomic studio, known to the C&C community as the developers of Tiberium Alliances, leaving 60 people jobless. However, nothing is mentioned regarding the closure of their services. Here is the statement from EA: "As part of EA's realignment in recent weeks, we have announced internally a small adjustment to some development staff to better focus our teams against priority growth areas," a spokesperson stated. "The decision to let people go is not something we take lightly and we are working to ensure that impacted employees are treated fairly and with respect for their contributions to EA, and with assistance to find other job opportunities."These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us." PurpleGaga27 40 Posted July 12, 2013 Another article: http://www.vg247.com/2013/07/12/ea-phenomic-closed-as-part-of-firms-continued-realignment/ So to the response of this, the P2W games of Battleforge and Tiberium Alliances will likely be gone for good and be heading into the archives. I fear Victory Games will be the next victim if they cannot recover on the C&C franchise. But I wished earlier that VG should have developed TA instead of EA Phenomic. They were probably filled with money from P2W item revenues I doubt what are they going to do with it. Probably to create another game franchise or to support other recent gaming. Nmenth 290 Posted July 12, 2013 So to the response of this, the P2W games of Battleforge and Tiberium Alliances will likely be gone for good and be heading into the archives. You make this assumption rather than, say, another piece of EA taking over the duties? Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Nmenth, I don't know if another EA studio will continue to support these F2P/P2W games. But this quote from rhiorrd says it all: Sad news this week, and I can't give you more than the following at this point. I try to keep you updated as soon as we know any more details. We want to assure you that EA has no plans to shut down the life services of C&C: Tiberium Alliances / Lord of Ultima and that we at Phenomic assist and support EA with any guidance they need to keep the titles up and running. At this moment it’s not yet sure who is taking responsibility of the titles for the future so I am asking you for a bit more patience until we´ve sorten everything during the coming weeks. Please also note that EA does not have any plans to depart from the Free to play business in general.I will keep you updated on any progress we made and as soon as there are more details to share about the games. Thanks a lot for your support guys, it means the world to us!David Edited July 13, 2013 by Sonic Share this post Link to post

CyborgBanana 5 Posted July 13, 2013 Sad news indeed, as I very much enjoyed TA and it was definitely my favorite F2P game! I hope to see the sacked developers working on other F2P titles in the future, as most other F2P games just don't cut it for me... Share this post Link to post

Johnnyxp64 20 Posted July 13, 2013 why am i not suprized when it comes to EA and how they treat its developing studios!? Share this post Link to post
CyborgBanana 5 Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) Maybe because EA is like the 99 percent of other major companies that would prefer to keep confirmed wealth magnets (like D.I.C.E.) rather than potential wealth magnets (like Phenomic). Sadly, may I add. Edited July 14, 2013 by CyborgBanana Share this post Link to post

Sadly, may I add. so those lucky enought to make a name for them selves in time, are going to survive and the new studios dont get a chance? or was TA an "opportunity" for phenomic? or does DICE belive its safe for ever under such managments? one wrong step and you are out of the game? i know in this job there is no second place, but EA is lurking for studios to buy when they are doing great job, then make 1 project for them, at the end they dont like it (because of their own management mistakes btw), so then they accuse the studio, and then they are closing the studio down?! WTF?! you (EA) wil not survive long with that strategy imho. Edited July 15, 2013 by Johnnyxp64 1 Share this post Link to post
