wierdmidget 0 Posted January 10, 2005 just in case u did not know yuri can take ur whole base and just make a tanya or boris...and then clone them making 2 with the cloning vats. Or he could just mind control one....lol YURI RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Share this post Link to post
wierdmidget 0 Posted January 10, 2005 im making another post and guess what you dont like yuri cuz u fear him...ive got support on this one Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted January 10, 2005 1) You can't clone Tanya 2) You can't clone Boris 3) You can't mind control Tanya 4) You can't mind control Boris Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted January 11, 2005 I couldn't have said it better myself, luk3us.... Yuri sucks. He is too strange a unit/side, and he is DEATH to the storyline. Share this post Link to post
General Leang 0 Posted January 11, 2005 5) You cannot defend against other units. 6) You can only mind control one unit at a time. 7) You cannot mind control arial units. 8) You cannot mind control dogs. 9) You cannot mind control robotics. 10) You are weak against Snipers or Virus. 11) You cannot sneak up on your opponent. 12) Anyone would go after Yuri first in battle. Luk3us 63 Posted January 11, 2005 Yes I believe we have a concesses here that Yuri is insignificant.... Now we wait for Fenring to come and "enlighten us".... Share this post Link to post
wierdmidget 0 Posted January 11, 2005 watever u guys i think that yuri rules...um and u can clone tanya and boris ive done it b4 just get a cloning vats (or mind controll one). Alright u can controll up 2 3 unites at a time with a phsyicic(cant spell) tower. He has gattiling cannons and flying discs. No one eles can get viruses but yuri. Attack dogs stink...who would really take a yuri prime out alone???? and for that matter he could escape over water. he has a gattling cannon which take out ground and air units quickly. Robot tanks stink and are a waste of money and can be killed quickly. Who needs sneaking when you can mind control all there unites, cause corruption, destroy there buildings or just turn all there ground unites into brutes and destroy there base from the inside out. The only reason go after yuri first is because if he got to strong all eles wud die. i just have 1 question, whats stopping tanya and boris from being mind controled??? But i will give u this tanya is a great againts tanks and buildings, borris is good for destroying base defences and buildings. both are good for infantry(cant spell) but yuri is good for all, except for his 1 mind controll maximum. And he works at a short range (like tanya) and dies quick (like all of them vs there 1 weakness) over all they are all good i just like yuri the best, when did having a free will get peeps so POed Share this post Link to post
General Leang 0 Posted January 11, 2005 Throughout all the Yuri debates people who support him have done everything from claim he can call upon the sandworms of Dune to denounce the votes because they are for the other heroes. Besides, we are talking about the heroes themselves, not their armies. Otherwise we could say that Tanya is the best because her Prism Tanks in force can comfortably take on any opposition. Kirovs and Flying Saucers would be shot out of the sky by Giardian GIs. Virus and Yuri would be held at bay by Snipers. They can see the whole map, and they have the Chronosphere. A similar arguement could be made for Russia and their strengths. Share this post Link to post
wierdmidget 0 Posted January 11, 2005 i see where you are going with this but still this is a question with too many variables.....tanya and boris are evenly matched...in order for one to shoot yuri the other one would have to give up there life. End of story all are evenly matched but tanya could beat yuri and so could boris...yuri is just a better person as a side than a character alone. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted January 11, 2005 ...both are good for infantry(cant spell) "Infantry" was one of the few words you spelled right! yeah, I don't even get why there's a debate... I see a general consensus already, but no one seems ready to shut up about it! Armies aside, Tanya and Boris are similar, albeit with a few differences. Yuri is unique, having both extreme capabilities and extreme weaknesses. For more conservative players, Tanya and Boris are more appealing. For crazier players, Yuri is alot of fun. Now everyone agree that there is no right answer! Westwood did their best to balance the units, and I think they did a pretty good job, especially considering how very different they are. Of course, in the heat of battle, who the heck knows which unit will be more effective at a single task? Tanya and Boris are competent solo, while Yuri needs some backing. There is no absolute answer; RA2 is not a 1 unit game! Weirdmidget said it best: this is a question with too many variables Share this post Link to post
wierdmidget 0 Posted January 11, 2005 thanks bware, the thing is, there will never be a game where yuri prime, tanya, and boris are the only ones left...there will at least be a brrack left and a battle lab. You would be able to make a virus...with yuri...terriosts with russia...and snipers with america...overall it still has too many variables...the only 1 best person in the whole game we can all decide...the person with the power to click. 8) Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted January 11, 2005 Meh, Boris 0wns you all. yeah, he's my favorite of the three as well . I wouldn't say that he's absolutely superior to the others though. He's just so good at tearing through EVERYTHING on the ground! Tanks, infantry, whatever! The laser I've found to be less than impressive... it takes a while, leaves him EXTREMELY visible, and the migs usually get shot down if they fly from the other side of the enemy base. It's a pretty cool gimmick, though. Share this post Link to post
Sparky 0 Posted January 12, 2005 tanya's pretty kool. she was always my favorite, even in the erlear games. then comes boris, and yuri's last. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted January 12, 2005 What about Volkov from RA1. Speaking of people who like Tanya because of her history with RA, again, what about Volkov? (whatever happened to him anyway? He dies on the Soviet Aftermath missions, the Allies dont even hear from him) Share this post Link to post
General Leang 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Ah yes, the Soviet Terminator and his cybernetic dog. He was more powerful than all the other heroes from all the games put together. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted January 12, 2005 Ah yes, the Soviet Terminator and his cybernetic dog. He was more powerful than all the other heroes from all the games put together. Id have to agree by a lot. The Soviet mission where you have to kill him because the Allies capture him, well, lets just say you'd think missile subs and mammoth tanks and flamethrowers and shock troopers and flame towers and telsa coils and v2's and too many grenadiers and rifle infantry to count would kill him , but nooo, they all just die, then he dies from one stray attack dog. This guy alone could have won RA2 for the Soviets except for rocketeers and snipers. Share this post Link to post
wierdmidget 0 Posted January 13, 2005 is Ra1 really really good because i just ordered it. i hope its great. anyway what i was wondering more is can u make Ra's graphics any better. Plz help me out here!!!! Share this post Link to post
General Leang 0 Posted January 13, 2005 To answer your questions, yes the original Red Alert is definetly worth the money. The best of the classic C&C games in my opinion. As for making the graphics any better, if you can play it on a modern PC (one built in the last year) with a good monitor (go for flatscreen if you can, it makes all the diffirence) then any game would look pretty good. But as for any way to pump up the graphics, then no I am not aware of anything you can do there. Share this post Link to post
wierdmidget 0 Posted January 14, 2005 ok thanks...i dont got a flat screen but i got an xp. Anyway i got it and the aftermath expansion for $7.00 so i think that its definatly worth it. Anyway, what is another good game for the money??? I think they need to put out a renegade 2 =) Share this post Link to post
General Leang 0 Posted January 14, 2005 You could always look through the second hand stores and the like if you are after some bargains, but for some new cheap games some suggestions would be Half Life, Commanche 4 (you get a free game with it, Freedom Fighter I think), Red Alert 2, Renegade, Task Force Dagger (comes with free game), The Sims, Away Team, Elite Force, Soldier of Fortune, SWAT 3, Spiderman, Interstate76, Land Warrior (comes with free game), Black Hawk Down, Quake 3 and No One Lives Forever 2. Cygnus X-1 12 Posted January 14, 2005 you might also look into obtaining any missing C&C titles from your collection. Also there are tones of pinball games out there, quite a few are good, quite a few are free. Halflife?? The Halflife that I've seen in a piece of crap. Is there more than one game under the name Halflife? Also, does anybody know of excelent (or at least good) flying (like combat) and racing (like street) games that are available for PC? General Leang 0 Posted January 14, 2005 Half Life was voted Game of the Year for 1998 I think and followed the story of Gordan Freeman, a scientist who was working on alien artifacts and basically calls the aliens to attack the research facility he works at. He has to make it past the aliens and the special forces soldiers who are trying to hide the evidence to first contact the outside world and then try and stop the alien invasion. There are several add ons, the first being Opposing Force where you are part of the invading soldiers and have orders to hunt down Freeman. The second is the legendary Counterstrike, a fan made game based on Team Fortress where you play either terrorists and take hostages and plant bombs, or counterterrorists where your goal is to stop them. It also contained a few diffirent multiplayer games and a new mission for Gordan Freeman. Blue Shift is much the same as the first two, except you play as the security guard from the earlier games. The Condition Zero was made as a follow up to Counterstrike, and Half Life 2 was released last year. How did you miss that? As for flight sims and racers, Grand Theft Auto is something of a racing game, or you could try the Commanche games, Need for Speed, Flanker, Top Gun, Team Apache, USAF or Freelancer for a space shooter. Luk3us 63 Posted January 14, 2005 Just wondering but how the hell did we go from the topic title at hand to best game of the year? :? Share this post Link to post
