Its working ok for me. The last time I got an "attack" of those errors was last week when I was setting up the retro forum styles.

It takes a lot of refreses just to make this post

Any idea on how to fix this

There is nothing I can do to fix the problem, other than find another host for CNCNZ.com, I don't have another host to move to. Plus I don't feel like moving the site, its a pain in the ass.

The problem is the server it self not these forums or CNCNZ.com, and Gaming Source are the ones who need to fix the problem.

Try reducing the load CNCNZ puts on the server, I know a lot of forum features are integrated into the frontpage, perhaps loosing some of those (at least temporarally) would reduce strain on the SQL of the server

That probably won't make any difference to be honest. There are only 3 things that load on the main page, LiveWire at the top, Recent forum threads just below and then the poll in the right column. News doesn't count (I think), it reads from flat files, not a mySQL database.... but you already know that chickendippers.

There is another site hosted by Gaming Source (sharing same server that CNCNZ.com is on) that should be re-coding there pages you know.

I don't know if anyone noticed but in the last 24 hours I've noticed a massive increase in the server's response time and I haven't seen any SQL errors from our forums.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

I've been informed by Gaming Source that I have the option of moving CNCNZ.com to one of their other servers, it would result in a couple of hours downtime.

Gaming Source have already moved that other site I mentioned of the server we are currently on to ease the load.

I'm still monitoring the situation, as I have been for the past few weeks.

I had them quite heavy yesterday. But maybe that was before the move, a little bit of time will tell us.

If we move onto a server of another major gaming source web-site, it could result in the cure being worse than the disease. In my opinion we should keep CNCNZ on this server for the mean time to see how it goes. So I'm in favour of staying put.

Robin at Gaming Source has given me the option, I told him I would like to wait and see how things go on this server.

If we move Gaming Source take care of it, an automated process. We only have to wait a couple of hours.

I thought it was something to do with my computer yesterday when the server began to play up.

If you begin to do server swaps, people and things might get lost too...

It's faster than it was, yes. But still not very fast. :(

I think this is the best I've seen it go at since I joined, but I joined three days ago, so I don't know really.

It was the way I worded it at the beginning that did it. Just like a real job advert in the paper..

As for the forum blackouts, I'm still getting them. it's only been a few in the last few days, but it shouldn't happen at all really.

Sorry guys I should have posted this info way sooner. If you can hang in there a solution is coming, it involves petrol and a box of matches... no wait.... Gaming Source are sorting it out

Here is the info from Gaming Source that was e-mailed to me last Friday May 13th. While reading this remember CNCNZ.com is located on the server called GH2. The parts in bold give you the basic idea.

Its been REALLY slow latley and keeps timing out

Well the site has been transferred to Gaming Source's new and faster server. And looking at the control panel for the CNCNZ.com account the server load is high again

I haven't been getting any of those annoying database errors from the forums or time out problems.

I will e-mail Gaming Source for some confirmation about the situation.

I got a bunch of server error 500 messages before... :(

I never get these errors but the speed is horrible right now.

Anyway I've been told that extremely large sites are currently being transferred over to the new server and this is affecting performance at this time. Things should improve in the coming days.

I hope, cus its slow as hell...

I did get the Could Not Connect error again though :(

Link to post

Yeah. before, it would occasionally have "phbb error"

Now it just loads really slow. I liked it better before, even with the phbb error. As long as it loads fast, i'm happy. Errors come second in priority for me
