Microsoft Sued Over Xbox 360 Problems

Recommended Posts

A Chicago man is seeking unspecified damages against Microsoft over alleged flawed design.

The class action lawsuit has been brought by one Robert Byers over alleged overheating of the power supply and processors causing the machine to stall.

Microsoft has previously acknowledged the existence of problems with some of the estimated 400,000 machines sold since its launch on 22nd November, which are covered under warranty for repair or replacement. The Xbox 360 will launch in New Zealand on 2nd March 2006. Microsoft had previously considered further delaying the launch in such countries in order to supply additional units to regions such as North America but decided against the move.

The original Xbox was found to have faulty power cords affecting "about 1 in 10,000" units made before 23rd October 2003, which have caused burning inside the console or melting of the power cord where it connects to the console. Owners of machines made before this date were urged to have the power cords replaced, which Microsoft estimates takes two to four weeks.

Microsoft has not commented on the latest action.

that'll come of nothing I imagine, they'll just give him a new 360 to shut the guy up! But if he win's we could probably expect a "so-called" influx of people attempting to grab money from the giant that is EA... err.... I mean Microsoft

This goes to show that Sony > Microsoft when it comes to making consoles. :P

Anyways, King's right, they'd probably just give him a new Xbox to shut him up.

What perplexes me: Why dosen't he just take the damn thing back from where he got it from, get his money back, and get a new one? It's only been, what, not even a month since it came out over there, right? So that means that the 30-day warrenty on the product hasn't expired yet.

Seems simpler than suing Microsoft over the whole ordeal.

That's an American you're talking about, Acerz. Many Americans don't understand the concept of "simple" or "easy." ¬_¬

A suing campaign against stupidity? That can only happen if every major corporation that lost a WRONGFUL lawsuit began suing the dip****s who sued them in the first place.

Before the Xbox, Nintendo > all. But now with their "revolution", they're coming up with weird ideas and calling it "innovative".

That is true... weird isn't necessarily "innovative"

I think it's Nintendo getting desperate. They've clearly lost the console market.

That's pretty true. Nowadays here, you can sue for anything and win.

That's pretty true. Nowadays here, you can sue for anything and win.

Example -

Lady spills coffee on herself and sues McDonald's for not having labels. She wins, and thats why we now have, "CAUTION: EXTREMELY HOT CONTENTS". See how idiotic that is? No **** coffee is going to be hot! But she still won.

One day, we will see someone sue McDonald's for not having labels saying, "CAUTION: EXTREMELY HOT CONTENTS! DO NOT SPILL ON YOURSELF OR OTHERS".

Oooh, what about the two fat guys who sued McDonalds, because they 'made them fat', only to drop the charges when they found out they couldn't eat at another McDonald's resturant ever again?
