Not 'as-is' I'm sure. Because TFD has different registry entires they would probably have to simply change a few lines of code.

Question for those of you with TFD, what is the installation like? Do you have install all the games or can you pick and choose?

DVD format makes me think its pick and choose, but EAW is DVD too, and thats deffinetly an installer (right ?? :? )

Yes, you do. But you can't have the other ones. (Say if I had ZH install, as I did, it said uninstall it and install TFD's one, which I did.)

I just got C&C TFD for my birthdya a few days ago, and it does indeed say Online games in this compiltation may be discontinued and is not garunteed.

 

Would it have killed them to give us online play ? Thats half the point of RTS you know... :tired:

the only gripe i have with this game is you have to have a dvd rom drive to play it which is really stupid since when they were released nine of them ever needed a dvd rom drive

They once released Frogger on a cassette tape for an atari player. Would you expect them to keep that old format if they released it now?

 

Just go for it- splurge, spoil yourself, and blow the 10 bucks a cheap dvd rom drive will cost you.

1 disk = conviniance and cheaper shipping costs. Its actually a very good idea.

actually a dvd rom would cost bout £30 here which is possibly $40-$50

Standard DVD-writers are cheap. One over here is only about NZ$50, and DVD-RW are only about another $30 on top of that. Dunno about DVD-roms, I assume they'd be cheaper than the DVD-writers though.

I really hope EA actually does something about that. If not, I really don't think I am staying a C&C fan. If the company wants to cut-corners, then they ain't going to get me anymore... My dad always believed in quality over anything and I think that idea has always been inside me...

Its a legal disclaimer, its that simple. Their legal department said, "Hey! We don't control the online gaming for these games anymore, print on the box that online services are not guarenteed and may be discontinued, otherwise we might get sued." and the people printing the box said, "Okay!"

 

 

Don't read anything more into it, its their legal department covering their asses. I bet if you dug around and looked in the manuals/eula/misculanious other matereals of the origional releases you would find a similar statement.

They do? Its not all C&C by the way, C&C Generals and Zero Hour are gamespy or something.

 

They support it but still, XWIS isn't responcible for EA's actions, but they were made about it, so thats why they made that guide...

 

PS: Playing C&C 95 and RA 1 is sooo much fun.

which is very nifty, having just one disk to take care of (and not loose) instead of 12 or so.
