gammyleg 0 Posted May 10, 2006 Nope.Ha, nice deadpan. You reckon it'd ever come to that? Big ass Berlin-wall style thing with a lovely raked no-mans land? Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted May 10, 2006 Youd be suprised. i doubt it would be a concrete wall but youd be suprised how common security fences are on country boarders. I never really thought about it being an island continent but its ment to be common Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted May 10, 2006 ...they're definitely considering it, and there's a big move to make a high tech Israel style fence, but nobody is really moving on it. The Minute Men, a volunteer cvilian border patrol, is currently in the process of building a test fence to "inspire" our apathetic government. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 10, 2006 My idea of a "test" fence is 20ft-40ft (pick your hieght) with razor and barbed wire at the top, 2 layers of fencing, with a 100 foot wide concrete ditch across the middle, and both fences electrified with upwards of 100,000 Volts. More if need be (I was wrong on the voltage last time I brought this up) Of course, post some warning signs a few hundred feet out, and 4 ft high barbed wire is a good warning sign. Granted that will cost a lot, but we seroiously need something. Volunteer border patrol is nice, but can you imagine what would happen if somepulled an RA2-esque invasion, only just the mexican part? Seriously, I feel secure when the military holds the border, not volunteer cops. Im not trying to dishonor them or anything, but logic would dictate military controled borders. Doctor Destiny 41 Posted May 10, 2006 But that would make us look excessive and isolationist. Not good in today's climate. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted May 11, 2006 As the SAS handbook says there is no such thing as an impenetrable security barrier. All they do is slow down the invader meaning a higher probability of being caught by routine patrols. Share this post Link to post
GeneralZ 0 Posted May 11, 2006 i heard stories that people were catapulted across the borders....lol if we put up walls, they'll dig tunnel or sumthing....so we'll need a wall and sonic sensors that can ping the ground to detect tunnels and stuff Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 11, 2006 Well, with enough tanks you can get through any border. Im saying at least put boder security in the hands of the military, so as to better secure it. And digging a 1000+ foot tunnel that has to go under the foundations just to get into the US? Its easier and cheaper to immigrate. Heres another idea, use the US embasy in Mexico as an information kiosque for people who want to go to the US. Let them know how its done. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted May 11, 2006 A well trained Special Forces such as the SAS can penetrate any security boarder Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 11, 2006 Not when its guarded by a better trained force (U.S. Marines, anybody?) But we all know that small well trained commando teams can do anything, so neough deliberating on that. Since illegal mexican imigrants arent elite commando teams from Britian, I dont think that will be a problem. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted May 11, 2006 if we put up walls, they'll dig tunnel or sumthing....so we'll need a wall and sonic sensors that can ping the ground to detect tunnels and stuff They already have tunnels. It's primarily for drug smuggling but people also use them to enter USA illegally. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 11, 2006 Whatever happened to satelite imaging for detecting thsi crap? See, this is why the military needs to be in charge of border security. Share this post Link to post
Iceman 0 Posted May 13, 2006 Hey, if not for the immigrants, who would be picking our tomatoes, driving our taxi cabs, or kicking our extra points? We also have the immigrants doing all the degrading and disgusting work that we do not want to do. So I say let em in. Not too many, but let some in. Share this post Link to post

We also have the immigrants doing all the degrading and disgusting work that we do not want to do. So I say let em in. Not too many, but let some in. You are making a CRITICAL mistake in your thinking here, and sadly, it's a common one. The debate here is over the handling of ILLEGAL immigration. Say it with me now- illegal. Nobody is arguing against immigrants. Hell, just about everyone in the states is the product of immigration! Please, for the sake of the argument, stop confusing this. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted May 13, 2006 Immigration is a fine thing, and is in fact encouraged. Its Illegal immigrants that get in, take our jobs, live on welfare, get free food and healthcare, and dont pay taxes. Share this post Link to post
