new C&C Screenies over at IGN.com

Yep, they look good indeed, my only concern being the apparent backtrack in technology and 'futuristic' feel of TS.

i wudnt call it a backtrack as such. more of a re-thinking of warfare mechanics. the mammoth mkII, as good as it was, was too cumbersome for the battlefield. wots quicker to turn round, a 300ft tall 4legged mech or a twin barrelled turreted tank? and the fact that u can upgrade the turrets to rail guns shows they've adapted the best parts about the mkII to fit into the new mammy. dropping the wolvo in favour of the new zone troopers is also along the same lines. i think one of the key issues with the futristic look is that so many games go for it nowadays. c&c has managed to merge the futuristic feel of vehicles/infantry/weapons and make them look high tech but not space age. personally, i think it'll work great for the game.

Mmmmh..maybe so, though it doesn’t look to capture the same mood as TS. I admit, I loved the realistic/futuristic hybrid of the original, though I also love the style of TS and it's apocalyptic feel. Now, this could all be explained within the plotline (reversing the effects of Tiberium with the Tacitus), though from what I've read of C&C3 so far, the Tiberium crisis has gotten worse, not better. And what of GDI Hover MLRS' and Distruptors? Will these futuristic units be making a return? I hope so anyway..

Heh, though despite my ramblings I'm very exited about the game. This is the only real thing that bothers me at the moment. :)

Its only in the starting states, mind you. Look at the destroyed city screenshot and it looks very endish.

Very cool pics. I just hope the game is not entirely set in urban settings... ;)

I hope the navy isnt buildable, instead done similar to TD, or even the carrier mission of ZH

Limited navy is good, but the water should have some of those algae-like Tiberium mentiond in PC&C...

Yeah GammyLeg posted a good news update as to why we have seen any Tiberium in the early screen shots yet, http://www.cncnz.com/news/view.php?Action=...&NewsID=109

NO NAVY. Didnt you lot pay attention in FS? Tiberium is spreading under and over water too. Remember the growths in FS? There is no navy over that, except for perhaps hiver vehicles (gotta love the Hover MLRS)

Agreed.

Navy will happen, Orca transport carriers will be buildable. Tiberium spreads at an extremely slower rate underwater for yet unknown reasons. Could be a key to slowing down and reversing the whole mutation process. Technically the only thing Tiberium can actually do damage to is marine life and algae. Maybe it cannot spread on the beds of water and marine areas. But we'll see.

If your gona quote Darth Vader, dont use his most horribly scripted line ever

It says in the FS manual that Tiberium crystals were spreading along hte ocean floor and leaching minierals like it does on land, but for obvious reasons, its much more difficult to harvest. In addition, floating tiberium algea is linked to the growths on the ocean floors by highly volatile tendrils. Something along those lines...

Yeah, and navy sucks for the tiberium series. It just doesn't fit in.

Especially with GDI going for Space instead. That kind of nullifies having an aquatic navy. Although if Nod ever invests into an underwater city/base thing.....possibilities..... 8)
