PS3, most highly anticipated console ever right? OK Sony realises that and slaps on a hefty price tag:

 

 

Convert this to currencies around the world and the price you'll be paying for this hefty behemoth of next gen gaming is as follows:

 

US: $803.57

Can: $894.78

Europe: EUR-621.71

NZ: $1,277.96

 

Holy crap, looks like I won't have enough saved for November 17th. Maybe November 17th 2007, but definately not by this Christmas or beyond that's for sure. How can you justify paying the price for something that is almost twice as expensive as an X-Box 360 here in the UK... I'm disgusted!!! OK I know it's subject to change but WTF!!! Does it even do the washing up and cleaning to a High Definition as well!!?? I hate to know what price tag they'll slip on the games. Americans beware, you'll probably pay $70-$80 a game if this machine is anything to go by!

 

Oh and for those still wanting to see the controller, Sony backed off it's a wireless Dualshock 2 controller :roll:

yes but people only bought them because they were the first of the next gen consoles. As soon as xbox and gamecube came out the price droped straight away to compete.

It's always amusing when some people think they know SO much more about marketing than companies like Sony. "OMG, teh pr1ce is too hi lolz!!! Tehyll nevar sell any!!11" I think they know what they're doing. If it doesn't live up to the price, if it doesn't look like it's worth the cost, then DON'T BUY ONE! That's the beauty of the free market people. Sony has two phenomenally successful consoles under their belt, and this one is looking even more promising than its predecessors. If you DON'T want to drop $800 on a brand new one, then wait for the inevitable price drop! "Sony plans to rip us off"? Give me a break :roll:

Im not a console person anyway. Most games I like come out on PC anyway, and look far better (especially on 100" screen =P~)

On the contrary the PS2 on launch date in the UK was only £224.99 for the base system. So it's an extra £200 in terms of the price tag. The X-Box 360 with all the extras a hard disk etc, here costs £279.99, and has been since launch. The sheer price comparison stands clear.

Face it everyone knows they will barley sell the 60GB version..... who needs a 60GB console? I got a 250GB harddrive on my PC thats where all my music/films are

 

thou the wireless and other add ons for the 60GB are tempting.....

I watched the Sony E3 press conference. All base pack Playstation 3's will ship with 60GB hard drives as standard. There's no choice in the matter.

20GB version £340 will not have Memory Stick, SD, or Compact Flash inputs, Wi-Fi capabilities, or any HDMI output.

Only giving the information I heard from the press conference (HDD's as standard. And the local Games shops which claimed only to be getting in the 60GB version. Amatuers! :roll:
