Saracen 16 Posted May 14, 2006 PS3, most highly anticipated console ever right? OK Sony realises that and slaps on a hefty price tag: Convert this to currencies around the world and the price you'll be paying for this hefty behemoth of next gen gaming is as follows: US: $803.57 Can: $894.78 Europe: EUR-621.71 NZ: $1,277.96 Holy crap, looks like I won't have enough saved for November 17th. Maybe November 17th 2007, but definately not by this Christmas or beyond that's for sure. How can you justify paying the price for something that is almost twice as expensive as an X-Box 360 here in the UK... I'm disgusted!!! OK I know it's subject to change but WTF!!! Does it even do the washing up and cleaning to a High Definition as well!!?? I hate to know what price tag they'll slip on the games. Americans beware, you'll probably pay $70-$80 a game if this machine is anything to go by! Oh and for those still wanting to see the controller, Sony backed off it's a wireless Dualshock 2 controller  I'll be sticking with my Playstation Portable for now, and for a long time Thank you Sony! Alphabear 11 Posted May 14, 2006 Im not suprised really. I guess sony hasnt learnt that if you want to charge high you need to the first of the next gen consoles like it was with the ps2 Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Oh good God... About 50,000 php... Damn... I just hate Sony soooooo much... Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted May 14, 2006 Pff.. So what. PS2's where around that price when they first came out too, and people still bought them. Far to much antisonyish, in this thread. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Oh, c'mon, not everyone in the world is as rich as you, Luk3us... Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted May 14, 2006 yes but people only bought them because they were the first of the next gen consoles. As soon as xbox and gamecube came out the price droped straight away to compete. Share this post Link to post

BWare 0 Posted May 14, 2006 It's always amusing when some people think they know SO much more about marketing than companies like Sony. "OMG, teh pr1ce is too hi lolz!!! Tehyll nevar sell any!!11" I think they know what they're doing. If it doesn't live up to the price, if it doesn't look like it's worth the cost, then DON'T BUY ONE! That's the beauty of the free market people. Sony has two phenomenally successful consoles under their belt, and this one is looking even more promising than its predecessors. If you DON'T want to drop $800 on a brand new one, then wait for the inevitable price drop! "Sony plans to rip us off"? Give me a break  Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted May 14, 2006 **** Sony. With the **** about installing things without your consent that open security holes in your system, I've stopped buying their **** altogether. Like I started with, **** Sony. Share this post Link to post
gammyleg 0 Posted May 14, 2006 It's always amusing when some people think they know SO much more about marketing than companies like Sony. "OMG, teh pr1ce is too hi lolz!!! Tehyll nevar sell any!!11" *sigh* No-one here is claiming they are marketeers, noone is saying they wont sell any, and noone Sp34kz Lyk3 Vi55! Im not a console person anyway. Most games I like come out on PC anyway, and look far better (especially on 100" screen =P~) Share this post Link to post
Shocker 0 Posted May 14, 2006 It's always amusing when some people think they know SO much more about marketing than companies like Sony. Yeah, because Sony have a flawless record of releasing new products -- look at the huge success of BetaMax, Minidisc, UMD and NetMD! Share this post Link to post

TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 14, 2006 If someone put all three consoles down in front of me, of course I would take the PS3. Then resell it and buy a Nintendo Wii and have 300 extra dollars. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted May 14, 2006 Yeah, because Sony have a flawless record of releasing new products -- look at the huge success of BetaMax, Minidisc, UMD and NetMD! And yet... somehow they're STILL in business and making millions upon millions of dollars. Amazing. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted May 14, 2006 Pff.. So what. PS2's where around that price when they first came out too, and people still bought them. On the contrary the PS2 on launch date in the UK was only £224.99 for the base system. So it's an extra £200 in terms of the price tag. The X-Box 360 with all the extras a hard disk etc, here costs £279.99, and has been since launch. The sheer price comparison stands clear. Share this post Link to post
