Its been too long coming for me not to post here, so i'll do my best to get some more activity going here on my behalf.

Hey Predator, why not just have a vote and let the fans decide which logo to go on the game so we can put our mark on a C&C game. Get your best ideas and post a poll on the :cnc3: website! That would be great! :D

Trust me, the community has put a substantial amount into this game already. We have already made our mark. I've even personally asked for a NPC unit the Visceroid to return and it has..... Thanks to my feedback, so consider yourself lucky :wink: :P

I wont say that the fans have never made their marks and that EA is not using our input to create C&C3.

 

Maybe im going too far, and thanks for the Viseroid request King, but im just remembering the tactic that game companies in past used to get the excitement back in their games.

 

For example: Microsoft's Mechwarrior 4 was wondering which mechs to include in their next expansion packs so they asked the fans throught polls and competitions. So i figured that it would help the popularity of C&C3. :)

 

I just want to ask Predator what he thinks of the ideas that we make on the CNCNZ forums for :cnc3: ? :wink:

Mutants are in, but at this point in time EA are not likely to discuss anything relating to which particular mutants. Personally the fiends or veinhole monsters are not massively essential. mutated plant life, humans and wildlife are an essential thing since it keeps the game's realism in check, as opposed to the canon itself.

 

Visceroids are different though, they've been in the series since Tiberian Dawn, hence why they are an essential NPC.

I think the veinhole monsters are important. They described the process of tiberian evolution/mutation in Tiberian Sun and they should describe it in C&C3. Sure it was used for super weapon purposes, but i think the Veinhole should return to benefit tiberium and the speculated "third side".

Well, unless Nod have access to a chemical missile, there isn't much of a need for the veinhole monster in my opinion. ;)

Tiberium is essential to the 3rd side since their power source and ability to live thrives off the stuff and is hard to remove. Vein hole monsters are the bi-product of mutation with earth based organisms, and can be easily destroyed. Because of this 15 years later, the global eradication of the Vein hole monster is a possibility.

 

It's not really something that needs to be canonical.

Thats somethin EA and Predator need to release I guess. But how exactly would the Veinhole monster be irradicated? It has been witnessed in both TD and TS. :hmm:

Tiberian Sun yes, but where in Tiberian Dawn? Veinhole Monsters were not in the original.

 

The only mutated plant life in both games was Tiberius Riparius which helped to regenerate Tiberium fields..

Westwood showed it in one of their cutscenes along with viseriods in a desert field. It was never in the official game but ideas were made to use it.

Unless you have conclusive proof, there weren't, and never have been any cutscenes in Tiberian Dawn or Tiberian Sun in any respect, to Veinhole monsters. My knowledge serves me well in that respect.

 

The pic above is from a cutscene from Lands of Lore 2. This was used in Sole Survivor to depict the Visceroid. Nothing more.

Well it's 2:20am now, and I' not gonna run through the .mix files on the discs to see if you're correct, but I'm sure if Nyerguds pops by, he'll be happy to clarify..... grab a screenshot and I'll put my hands up and say I'm wrong.

 

But, I'm almost 110% sure I'm still correct. Reason? Nyerguds or someone else would have extracted the file and it'd be all round the community during C&C 10 and on this site right now. Which it isn't.

i would really like to see the concepts of the New and old logos, but i agree with EALA Preditor on the moving into a new direction, but i don't think a white text is right i think it should be a different colour but i don't necessarily think it has to be Gold, Platinum is a good idea, it just needs to be a but bolder and stand out. but i like the new look the text boldness is all i would change, you want to give a greater impact, make it jump out on the shelf, the newer games box's designs are just getting darker and darker and they blend in with the other box's. if you can make it stand out in the distance then you have a good thing going but i fell the white does not work.

 

the 3 is alright but i don't think it is all that necessary because of the Tiberuim wars under-neath the main Command & Conquer Text. it is really all about making it stand out to the coustmer and that is the hard part. but i trust you guys make the right choice on things, so keep up the good work.

Well I'll eat my hat. I've never seen that before. And I swear I've been through every vid... OK, whatever, tis cool, but since it never was put into the game I still wouldn't class it as canon.

The "3" is the biggest subject of controversy and was without question the HARDEST part of the logo design. At one point we had a "3" that was three Tiberium crystals, I actually thought it was very cool, but it just wasn't legible or noticeable, too subtle. We had a logo with the 3 off-set to the right, the bottom, the top, roman numerals, my gosh, it was crazy, but again, at the end of the day, we felt the "3" we chose worked the best. It will have a more embossed "tiberium" look to it on the packaging.

Could you show the logo with the three crystals? I like the new logo but i just hate the 3. It looks bad and I also don't like the numbering...

We mean it when we say we are listening to the community and doing everything possible that we agree with...with respect to our art and vision of C&C 3, that we'd like to accomodate, make sacrifice, and put in the game.

And it's really good to have you post here, hopefully more often in the future. Thanks for the detailed/lengthy response. I appreciate it.

 

If it came to a vote of interest, I would like to see the different variations of the logo too. Perhaps this will only be possible after the logo is 'final' but please release them. I think it's interesting because I go through hundreds of versions before I settle on something.

 

My main feedback about the logo that I'd like you to remember is that emphasis of the "three" supersedes the "C&C" and it should be the other way around. I previously suggested colour swap... but that was just an idea - I guess the background will have a greater impact on what sticks out.

Predator you should show us all the logos and run a poll on the EA C&C website which one we think looks best! :)

 

Oh well, its a logo, but representation is almost everything. :P
