Didn't ANYBODY like Generals?

Recommended Posts

Generals is a game that was tagged with the Command & Conquer label. Why? Profit!

I loved the stealth general idea, but there was like 50+ units that could detect stealth for the US.

-Tanks with drones

-Pathfinders

-Satellite scan

-Defences

-Airplanes

-Drones

I mean why put a stealth general in, if you can see the ****ard?

I was basically playing with no tanks for no reason.

No balance, no balance, no balance.

GLA vs GLA

Why I never...

Well um..

Ok, maybe a couple of times...

but those slimy turds said William Shatner was better Patrick Stewart.

Death on those who claim that.

The bikes ACTUALLY being able to drive up and jump off cliffs was cool, but mostly the game made no sense, like the microwave tank: disabling structures???

Microwave radiation would spark and maybe explode it not disable it. And the Helix was a bit massive for it's purpose i think

otherwise there was way more gameplay than C&C3 like different weapons on units and addable turrets and drones was done well

And 1 more thing is that there weren't stupid engineers that took buildings without resistance, it was a rifle soldier- better idea, but still shaky only 1 rifle can take an important military structure?

Well there actually is a weapon related to the particle cannon in orbit, Area 51 experimental, very secret (it looks similar to the Hubble telescope for camouflage)

it also well explains where command and conquer got the idea for a satellite beam weapon (ex. Ion Cannon)

The Helix is a real helicopter...

Do you believe everything you hear?

It is not impossible to make a weapon like that, though.

No, has nothing to do with hearing from bad sources... It was a Primary Source.

(But the helix in the game was at least 5x the size)

And if you watch Zeitgeist you will understand how "plot-full" the US really is...

not what i meant...

i meant zeitgeist shows that the us is doing crap and messing with your heads, you have no idea what is next

shows that it isn't all bull—

well back on topic- i also notices the soldiers were big and the hover craft was really tiny, i never liked how EA and Westwood always messed up the proportions

Particle cannon technology, yes. Weapon, no.

Currently, the materials for such weapons are "high-risk" and may not be developed for some time.

The power needed to project a high-powered beam of this kind surpasses the production capabilities of any standard battlefield power plant, thus such weapons are not anticipated to be produced in any near time. Particle beams could possibly be used from fixed locations, or in space, for example as part of the Strategic Defense Initiative or similar initiatives, but the problems related to power source still stand at present, pending future development in that field.

Considering that I research modern weapons and technology almost on a daily basis, you'll need to show me proof before I will start pretending to believe you. Non-conformist conspiracy whack jobs don't count.

Ha, funny...

I don't specifically study weapons, but i keep my eye out for what isn't "out in the open" and that was something i caught on a few years ago.

Do you even know when the EMP was first invented?

And speaking of weapons... the last Avro Arrow was taken by very high ranking US military personnel to Area 51 (no aliens there like many believe) for unknown reasons

-And also if i start getting extremely deep into the details of what i know, this entire site would get shut down by key-word searching programs, then they would be able to track me down then... well, doom

so basically i don't want to get stuck in the extremely deep facts...

That is too generic to answer. Do you mean any EMP device, or only a NNEMP? Do you mean identified, or actually used, albeit not yet known?

Maybe because Area 51 is an airbase?

Paranoia...

With number of futuristic video games going round and such, these "key-word searching programs" would run up millions of false hits

they get hits and they are looked into, if false alarm they program the phrase to off the list

and it isn't paranoia it is fact they would question if they found out how much i knew

and the E.M. Pulse Generator- for focusing toward an enemy and disabling their electronics (commonly added as a video game weapon)

there is a lot i know that even the highest ranking US military personnel don't even know... in fact exactly 26 492 people in the world know what i know, all in random places, not in any national military at all

Did I like it? It was okay. Strip away the whole CNC tag and you get another generic game. It did feel rushed, the infantry were huge as were the aircraft, the units too many, the story was something they threw at the end of the game. "Teh amirca is 'ttackin' the extremeest and China isn't happy!" Zero Hour did bring some good ideas, but it was mainly all filler. And I hate the game's economy.

Gens economy > other C&Cs. It was incredibly variable in most games.

As far as things go, ZH made the pair good. Without ZH, I'd agree, Generals would be another fairly generic modern warfare game.

My take somewhat coincides with both statements, however, I always had a problem with the supply docks being a one-shot deal and never regenerating. The first time I played the game, I thought planes or cargo trucks would come in periodically to refill the docks, I was quite disappointed when I realized my resource buildings and gatherers became useless aside from a tech prerequisite in time. At least the supplies didn't run out exceptionally fast. I actually found the lack of regenerating resources to be more of a lack against the C&C feel than no MCVs.

The non-regenerating supplies is the primary method of income and you have to use the secondary sources each side has. Besides, the non-regenerating supplies added another ounce of planning to games.

Besides, the dozer build system is by far better than MCVs...

True enough, but when the supplies were gone, your income buildings became useless. I'm not saying I couldn't plan ahead with the secondary income sources, I just didn't like the supplies disappearing, never to return. I think they should have become less-reliable later on rather than completely vanish, occasional resuppliers would have created this (and added a strategy aspect, shoot the resuppliers before they reach the enemy, protect your own cargo line).

Besides, the dozer build system is by far better than MCVs...

True enough, but it wasn't the C&C way. I wasn't saying dozers were bad, only not C&C.

Most maps have multiple supply docks and you're forced to expand instead of camping your base like other C&Cs.

but what if you run out of money and you fight all your units dead and all you got is a base? then what?

Then you didn't plan enough ahead to have a few drop zones, hackers or black markets around. If you didn't and the other guy did, you deserve that loss.
