New Kane's Wrath Info from EuroGamer Interview

Recommended Posts

Recently EuroGamer interviewed Kane's Wrath producer Jim Vessella. Now the interview is in German so if you can read that language click here. For the English fans we have this list info taken from the interview.....

General Info:

  • Your job is to help Kane become leader again and unite Nod as single group.

[*]*SPOILER* Fighting for the Tacitus against GDI after the third Tiberium war will be part of that.

[*]We will get to know what happened with Slavik and Cabal, while he also declares that there wont be any characters from TS in the game, albeit new, which is weird, since we already know Slavik will be in the game in some form or another.

[*]There will be even less rendered sequences, while we get much more to know about Kane and Nod, and the style will resemble classic C&C games.

[*]Mechapede will indeed start as one small piece of unit that will get more links during battle and is customizable on the fly.

[*]They will pay attention that technology wont be mixed up in these 20 years the game spawns, he gave "No advanced sonic weapons in the TS era" as example, while old units as the bike or the Juggernaut will be there . He also said that, by chance, there'll be a surprise for TS fans regarding more TS units.

[*]Max player number stays on 8, but they will look into it to make some maps bigger to provide more room for battles, expansion and strategy.

[*]The Black Hand subfaction mostly uses fire-based weapons and very potent infantry.

[*]There won't be any new multiplayer gaming modes, since they want to focus on the subfactions balance, joy and challenge of play, since allies can combine those special units.

[*]Direct X 10 won't be implemented, but some new effects will see the light of day. They want to take more time for the engine than just jumping on the bandwagon.

  • By taking territories you will get upgraded tech, by building bases greater room for expansion and more resources.

[*]You can customize which troops to take.

[*]There will be dynamic mission objectives, i.e. secondary objectives which grant you more resources or free upgrades, and missions won't resolve only around killing the enemy as in BfME.

[*]There is the possibility of a demo version, but there is no definite answer yet.

[*]Currently their focusing on making the best the expansion pack, but they will inform us concerning the future of C&C. They are quite content with the results.

  • , from our forums, for sending us the news.

In relation to the mechapede, I knew it wouldn't be long before other RTS games started to use Petroglyph's IP of Tactical dynamics. OK, it's only a single unit and not a whole gameplay element. But it's clear that the IP works!

We haven't gotten word if there will be a GDI/Scrin singleplayer campaign, right?

Cause it certainly looks that way from all angles! :(

Btw, do anyone think anything was lost in translation? Think about it, the questions was translated from german to english by someone, then answered by vessella, then translated to german by someone, and now we are translating it back to english, come on!

Customizable weapons are nothing new, though. Earth 2150 had tem (Along with weapon slots for most buildings) for example. If anything, it resembles DoWs squad system the most, since there you can add members (Here links) to " a single unit" and, after upgrades, choose from an array of weaponry during battle as well, whereas UaWs walkers (I guess youre referring to them) arent just attacking units, rather research labs, production facilities and defensive towers rolled into one mobile whopper of an unit.

Needless to say that its a very strong concept and should be used more often, while not excessively.

recover: I hope they payed as much attention as possible, i know i did ;) Im quite certain that there wont be a GDI or Scrin campaign. Ive read in the Gamestar of last month (German print-computer-magazine) that first you conquer the world with Nod during the campaign, and only after then have the chance to do the same with GDI and Scrin, and i have no idea to what extent.

Petro fanboys stupidity never ceases to amaze me. FYI: Petro did not invent customizable units.

Yes, I registered just to say that.

You could have taken your time to post that in a more civilised manner, especially since its your first post. I do know you though...

He wasnt exactly clear on what he meant either.

Oh well, I'm in quite a bad mood today, and Saracen's post really was extremely ignorant. That, and Petro fanboyism really does annoy me sometimes, as does EA fanboyism.

Oh, and while I'm here: about Slavik, I read the article, and it basically says that we'll get to know what happened to him and CABAL, but we won't be seeing TS characters in cutscenes. That most probably means Slavik will only be mentioned through the Intel Database:

"XX.XX.2031

Anton Slavik got ran over by a truck.

The end."

The grand opening cinematic will show Slavik talking to Kane (in person)...

They are talking about the future of Nod, and while Slavik is asking Kane what the hell that metal plate is doing in his face *BOOM* Oxanna accidentally ran Slavik over with the Montauk!!

About the Global Conquest Mode (As said, only SP):

Wait, I thought they were going to make it online like World Domination or something? 'Tis a loss in my book. (Though it might of already been known, I just found out :P)

I doubt it. Note how they said "First expansion pack" or something about KW's. Milk it for all it's worth.

Soviet: It was known, yes :P

It would be interesting, but too cumbersome, imho.

Milk it? Well, WW did it, Relic still does it. Why not if has a good price/value ratio and enough improvements for the gamer.

Kodaemon: I dont think so. They cant just say "Slavik will be seen" and then having him for seconds or even just in walls of text.

I wasn't refering to customisation options, I was referring to tactical dynamics on the fly. Sure RTS games have hinted so much at the idea, but have never put it into action. Tactical Dynamics where you can change things in the middle of battle to adapt to your opponent is a new IP.

Oh, and just let me say I don't like your attitude. Clear it up please. I am not even tempted to fall to your level with that sort of flamebaiting.

UaW does hinder you on these options a bit, though, with the research and patch limit etc. Except if youre playing Defcon ;)

Or what could you give me as example?

first up... thanks Hagren.

Next up...

* reuniting Nod is so lame... can't they keep the band together for more than one gig??? It's okay to deal with a defector/traitor who suprises you... but this is 'so' TibSun.... I thought Nod was unified at the end os TS:FS anyway?

* I don't recall an official confirmation about Slavik being in KW. But I could have been snoozing... Anyway, it's a telling statement that no 'characters' from TS will return. I was at least hoping for the same characters but maybe with different actors.

* "less rendered sequences" I assume means 1 campaign, one start and 1 ending sequence.

* And resembling classic C&C - does that mean more 'you're fired seth' sequences?

* Mechapede. Hmm ignoring Saracen's gloat, I'm sure this will turn out like the original Avatar... cool concept with poor execution.

He also said that, by chance, there'll be a surprise for TS fans regarding more TS units.

* Interesting.

* Shame they haven't added the Xbox modes for this expansion.

Indeed they were...

I'm pretty certain Slavik wasn't in TW. Some seem to have thought that the old man helping Kane was Slavik, this was even written on wikipedia (I recently helped rectify that). That old man is described as a "Scribe" in the novel.

Yea, this is sucky.

I think it was a bad call to make someone else than Kane execute Kilian...

Saracen - Hagren already gave DoW as a fine example of what you're talking about. But sorry for the baiting, I was really pissed off yesterday.

YkudzA - I'm in no one's club. I don't judge games by who makes them, I judge them by how good they are.

Or maybe Kane is dead and Cabal sent one of those clones(from the end of Firestorm) to act as Kane but it actually contains CABAL's hard drive stuff in his head...

As far as I know, CABAL requires organic components, so a harddrive wouldn't be sufficent.

Unless someone "connected" (yeh, it's probably a lot more complex than plug'n'play) the harddrive to a bunch of pods with humans. ;)

The focus lies on "A single group", i guess. Since yes, Slavik said that Nod is united again- but does everyone think so? The Inner circle is dead, but no Kane, thus nothing final- And the believers have their own view, too.

In BCPM Ep 2, Brass said well see Slavik.

Im also quite certain its just one campaign.

Well see about the sequences and the mechapede- It seems like a concept that cant be fked up.

Thats probs what the "Kane" in the 3rd tiberium war is, just a clone.

he has lots of ppl at the end of firestorm, and im sure that CABAL has Kanes DNA so he can copy his mind into Kane. 8)
