Some people have speculated that Petroglyph or one of their yet to be name partner publishers hold the license for Dune games.

That would be cool, I'd like new dune game.

Maybe an FPS that sticks more to the original storyline

I dunno how an FPS would work out too well in the 'original story' by Frank Herbert. But it'd make more sense (gameplay wise) to be set during the Butlerian Jihad (dune prequels) against Omnius and the Titans.

Either a sort of FPS/RPG game could work or a Space Simulator/shooter where you are a League Pilot against the Machines.

While I enjoy the original story, most of it wouldn't make a great game except possibly the first book.

A Mass Effect type of RPG/Shooter could possibly work pretty well if done right. Again, it depends on the setting. Being a fremen, while awesome, wouldn't probably give enough story or gameplay to the player. Being a bounty hunter or a slaver might be cool.

Would they still be able to use the Ordos as a main side? Since that was made up by Westwood and all....

It was mostly made up. Seeming Westwood just took the name and added it to the third side.

There are more then enough houses or people to crate a better third side if the ordos are not to be used in a future game.

Although depending on the game, subfactions or other groups would probably work better then a whole new team.

EA would rape the Dune universe, which is epic.

more so than how they have already raped the C&C universe :'(

As you shouldn't play with corpses, neither should you necropost.
