**** this over hyped game I'm done with it and I barely scratched the surface. Seemed so promising but has failed to captured my attention. It frustrated me. It now lives in the box waiting to be sold to someone who may enjoy it more.

I think they all offer their own various pros and cons. It all comes down to personal preference I think. In the long history of our forums here, dating back to 2003, we have only used phpBB and IP.Board now. So I can't offer comment on anything else. The popular commercial options are of course IP.Board and vBulletin. Free options are the likes of phpBB and Simple Machines Forum. You can even use WordPress and turn it into a forum. If I wanted to set up a new forum in the future I would stick with IP.Board. If I wanted to reduce costs I'd probably go with phpBB. Looks like they use phpBB that I mentioned above. Worth it in the terms of how big and successful you want it to become I guess. The commercial solutions all have on going costs for extended support. IP.Board does. Its US$25 per month to keep the license active. Not sure about vB. Setting them up is easy assuming you understand the basics of php and MySQL. In the case of IP.Board its really just a matter of uploading the files, pointing it to a database. Creating your theme, that’s were the real work begins.

For Throwback Thursday this week we are looking back at another hard to explain part of Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight from 2010. During the development of this not so warmly received game it was stated that Tiberium, a central part of the story from the previous games, was no longer the focus and they were moving away from the traditional resource harvesting methods. The community complained, and to their credit, EA did listen. But what they came up with was the "T.E.U. Lifter". In order to get Tiberium back on the battlefields, EA's answer was to have these contraptions drop green and blue Tiberium crystals from orbit onto specially placed Idris Corpiration drop pads. For any GDI or Nod unit to collect and use to bolster their resources. This was a lame game mechanic, a quick fix solution that made no sense story wise. After a brief hiatus, Throwback Thursday returns this week with a look back to a cool scene from the cut-scenes in Kane's Wrath from 2008. Towards the end of Act I, Kane's has to shut you down, as you are playing the part of LEGION. But before he does that, Kane's leaves you with a fine Shakespearean quote.... "To sleep, perchance to dream". The sequence is short but with the clever use of an odd camera angle, Kane looks kind of creepy. A new World War 1 inspired mod for OpenRA has been announced. The great war began on July 28, 1914, when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. The conflict rapidly spread and soon, Germany, Russia, France, and Great Britain were all drawn into the war. This was due to treaties that obligated them to defend certain countries. The Great War mod will feature many unique feature directional based tank armour. Units with this trait have a damage modifier for incoming attacks. Depending which direction the projectile hit, damage will be different. There is also a population limit, units require population which can be increased by building houses. Swamp terrain, only passable by infantry. Rails, trains can only be built and run on rails. You can learn more about the The Great War mod for OpenRA by clicking here.

A mammoth sized update for Renegade X has been released. Open Beta v5.2 many new additions such as veterancy, an overview map, new launcher with custom map downloader, a respawn menu, new maps (what is that in the preview above?), new tech buildings, and a host of bug fixes and balance changes on various maps and game settings. The details and list of changes can be found right here. You can update Renegade X via the Launcher or download the full game again, but only if you run into rare problems.

Yeah I went saw Suicide Squad this past Friday as well. Forget the horrible reviews this movie seemed to get, they are totally wrong, its awesome. Will Smith as Deadshot was great, Harley Quinn is completely nuts. Kinda liked this portrayal of The Joker too. Heath Ledger's Joker will always be number 1 but Jared Leto did a great job. You have really nit pick to find real negative things about Suicide Squad.

The team at W3D Hub have some new updates about the progress made with Tiberian Sun: Reborn. With the addition of a new member to their talented team, early previews of the GDI EMP Cannon and GDI Radar can be seen. There are new and modified Purchase Terminals for both GDI and Nod. This is part of the visual overhaul for 2.0. And to finish things off, a work in progress look at the Nod Tech Centre. This building provides access to Nod's higher-tier units such as the Cyborg Commando, making this a vital structure on full-arsenal maps. Check out the full update right here.

This week's selection for Music Monday features a rare track from the original Command & Conquer, its "Destructible Times". This song is only heard in a shorten edited form during the credits after completing the Brotherhood of Nod campaign. The song was by the band I AM, of which Frank Klepacki was the drummer. It can bee found on the album "There’s A Home". Westwood Studios asked Frank Klepacki for the song because it reflected the war aspect and bad-ass vibe of Nod’s side. Went and watched Star Trek Beyond last night. Really enjoyed it. This one was a true Trek movie. Loved the new characters and enemies. I would rate it better than Into Darkness. Minor spoiler below.....

Just towards the end of July, some big updates about the Mental Omega‬ mod for Yuri's Revenge were posted. This includes detailed information pages about the Structures, Infantry, Units & Tech Trees of the three original factions. All of the information now matches the state of the mod that it is currently in. The Allied, Soviet, Epsilon Info pages that open the Factions information will be updated last since they contain lore and updated storyline details for each of the sub-factions. The Foehn pages will be posted just before the release so that the surprise is not spoiled, and the new Stolen Tech page will appear last. There is also news of new Mental Omega trailer coming very soon. This trailer will show off the Foehn sub-factions in their glory. Visit the Mental Omega‬ site now for the full update.
