Sonic 296 Posted April 16, 2009 Command and Conquer Arena Speculation, MMORTS?, that's the title of a new article at GamerzUnite. This article takes a close look at all of the recent rumours and tries to piece together the puzzle that determines what the next Command & Conquer game could be. Basically the author of this article believes it will be a Massive Multiplayer Online Real Time Strategy game, possibly set in the Generals universe. Here's a small sample. As you can see, it would make perfect sense. Why would EA make an expansion with a title such as "Arena" which defines more in the direction of head to head play rather than a campaign type setting. Granted, there could be a campaign feel but more as you vs another real person on the opposing team. The other question is, which universe will it be set in? Most likely either Tiberium or Generals. My bet is Generals since it's the most realistic universe EA has done plus it's the one that hasn't had any attention paid to it in quite some time. So there you have it, the next CNC is an MMORTS! At least that's our opinion! It is no secret that Westwood were working on their own C&C based MMO game before they were shut down, it was called "Continuum", so perhaps EALA are revisiting the project. Please read the full article before sharing your own comments. Share this post Link to post
G Daddy 2 Posted April 16, 2009 Whatever it will be, I hope they will once again hire Frank K (if it's Generals based they might not). Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted April 16, 2009 Noooo... I can't accept a MMO based product. Looks like I have no choice but have to skip it if it's indeed an MMO based game. Share this post Link to post
recover 2 Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) From what I read in the article, all of it is speculation, so I will wait for official confirmation before I get my hopes up/down. Edit: I zoomed the picture of the supposed "globe". To be honest, I don't see any resemblance to a globe. Just wanted to add this. Edited April 16, 2009 by recover Share this post Link to post
phh 0 Posted April 16, 2009 so perhaps EALA are revisiting the project. Anyone else remember what happened the last time EA tried that? Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted April 16, 2009 I really hate rumours, I always think very hard before I post them, but I know they fuel good discussions as everyone has their say. Of all the recent rumours over the past 2 weeks the only thing that has caught my eye is the fact references to C&C Arena or C&C 4 have been quickly removed from the sources they were discovered, firstly from the Third Floor sight, then from that guy's resume page. And I agree with recover, I don't see a globe in the image below at all.... Anyone else remember what happened the last time EA tried that? No, care to elaborate on that? Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted April 16, 2009 And I agree with recover, I don't see a globe in the image below at all.... Looks like splatter marks to me (blood?). Share this post Link to post
Johnnyxp64 20 Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) hey why do you delete my comments if they are sort? what kind of censorship is that? a comment is a comment 3 words or 3 letter its doesnt matter, maybe i was "telling" something with my comment in my own way. it isnt like it was bad. it happend again few times in the past and i didnt say anything, but its starting to become annoying you know...... oh come on now that the perpose of comments, other wise we should call them essay. Sonic 296 Posted April 16, 2009 Your post consisted of two emoticons and that's all. I don't consider that contributing to the thread at all. All posts consisting of only emoticons are removed. Share this post Link to post

All posts consisting of only emoticons are removed. my friend maybe you forget the phrase "1 image = 1000 words!" so 2 images = 2.000words what ever i dint read that on the "rules". anyways who ever saw it saw it. i wish i could say more. ciao Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted April 16, 2009 I would be down for a Generals 2 for the next C&C or something... Anyone else remember what happened the last time EA tried that? Yes. That's why they shouldn't again. my friend maybe you forget the phrase "1 image = 1000 words!" That phrase used for detailed drawings and photos, not simple emoticons. It isn't in the rules, though one-word posts and smiley posts have always been deleted. Posting two emoticons does not help the discussion in the thread continue. Share this post Link to post
Mighty BOB! 5 Posted April 16, 2009 Anyone else remember what happened the last time EA tried that? Um.. no? Which one was that again? Share this post Link to post
Castleman12 0 Posted April 16, 2009 I actually hope it's an MMO or something, it would be a change of pace really. Maybe it could be Red Alert 3 as a multiplayer booster pack? Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted April 16, 2009 Well as a casual gamer, I will probably try out a demo of MMO... but I'm doubtful it grab me enough to invest the neccessary time to be good at it. Arena, Robotic Battles, Duels... sounds more like a Street Fighter Game to me! Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted April 17, 2009 I would try an MMORTS game for sure, just for the novelty of it. Though I might get bored of it after a few months but hey, at least it would be different. Share this post Link to post
rEdaSbLood 1 Posted April 17, 2009 if it is indeed an MMORTS, i'd try it because frankly i love C&C. what i would prefer is either an MMORTS in a universe besides generals, or even an MMORPG in a C&C universe besides generals. generals isnt as rich as the other universes, and a MMORPG in the other universes would make sense. imagine choosing between soviets, allies, or empire, and being a tesla-based unit or chrono-based unit. OR, imagine choosing nod, gdi, or scrin, and being a tiberium-based unit or railgun-based unit. Share this post Link to post
Gben 20 Posted April 17, 2009 So you don't find a suicidal GLA frontal assault appealing??? Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted April 17, 2009 Your post consisted of two emoticons and that's all. I don't consider that contributing to the thread at all. All posts consisting of only emoticons are removed. Did I just miss something? Personally, if this "Arena" Command & Conquer: Unreleased is indeed a MMO game, it seems EALA decides to join in the band of other game companies to "imitate" (or possibly competing with) WOW. Petroglyph is also making an MMO based game too. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted April 18, 2009 I am afraid that C&C Arena is out of the question now: http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum...list/13287.page Share this post Link to post
TX1138 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Not necessarily. I'm still suspicious as to why APOC couldn't have just told us this before, rather than refusing to comment on what he called 'speculation' I wouldn't put C&C: Arena completely out of the picture just yet. Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted April 18, 2009 There will definitely be a new C&C game or an expansion/booster pack. I was kinda curious that if Arena was KW project, why did EA go through the trouble of covering it up once the C&C fans found out about that 3D site? Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted April 18, 2009 I am afraid that C&C Arena is out of the question now: http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum...list/13287.page Nothing on http://dw78nov.blogspot.com/2008/01/walk-c...i-did-with.html says anything Arena, it simply mentioning a test video about the Wolverine for Kane's Wrath. I don't see anything that explains Arena is/was a working title for Kane's Wrath. I'm still suspicious as to why APOC couldn't have just told us this before, rather than refusing to comment on what he called 'speculation' APOC will not comment on unannounced, unofficial products. He can't stop the fans discussing it. If he comments in any way shape or form, it would look he's confirming its existence. Share this post Link to post
