C&C 4 Unit Profile - Nod Avatar

Recommended Posts

The latest Command & Conquer 4 unit profile has been posted on the Official C&C Site. This profile features the much talked about (based on its appearance), the Nod Avatar. As always this profile features a short in game video, concept art and extra information. Here is a sample....

Avatars were initially equipped with four anti-tank cannons, one on each of its four arms, but the extra cost was deemed unnecessary and two of the arms were dropped from production. As conflicts over the TCN escalated, Nod removed some of the armor from the torso of the Avatar to add a third, more powerful cannon for extra firepower. Although the three cannon model is normally used for production, the Avatar retains its support braces for its extra arms, and commanders have been known add additional cannons to Avatars by salvaging enemy weapons in the field.

Damn that thing is ugly, I know its an improvement, but damn... :P

Also lol, at the old avatar being more effective against Nod forces than GDI. Silly Nod engineers, you didn't think people would realise you could commend weapons from enemy units as well as your own in combat? :P

Still not as epic as the GDI powerhouse, but still good enough

I was kind of disappointed to see the silly move the folks made by removing the "commandeering" ability from TW era. They could invest more on this ability and twist it into an upgraded and improved ability not only to steal weapon system from Nod's vehicles, but also capable to steal from GDI vehicles as well, then that will be epic win. Now we have some plain normal 4 arm cannon and 1 chest cannon machine, meh.

Agree. It should be allowed to "charge up to a GDI (or scrin in C&c3) and take its weapon

Like Pitbull Missiles from a pitbull, or like a Railgun of a predator

In the albeit few beta games I've played, I've only see avatars twice... I didn't realise they were cannons and not lasers... and I now I see that it doesn't have the 'borrowing' ability.

It seems a lot of mistakes were made with the function and design of this unit.

Borrowing from GDI would have been perfect... or at least an optional melee attack.

it's still nearly as horrible as the old one. I don't see why they even bothered.

i said that it is much better, doesnt mean that it is good

Imo, C&C4 unit design has been sloppy from the beginning, Especialy the Nod ones. The GDI ones look very good imo, but so far, i havent found even one Nod unit that i could say= Worthy

So who noticed the Lion (CNC Den) homage?

"Now I've felt how it is being Shiva, the destroyer of worlds"

Flight Lieutenant Hal Lynch, lead Avatar Test Pilot, paraphrasing Oppenheimer upon completing his first test run with the Avatar Mk. II.

Hal Lynch is Lion's real name... that's pretty damn cool :)
