Best Internet browser?

Recommended Posts

Firefox, always Firefox. Because its what I'm used to. Its fast loading, displays pages quickly. It is the the best overall browser. When using other browsers I feel lost. The only time something like Chrome or IE gets used is when testing stuff related to the site.

Firefox, but its more to do with my addons than anything else, if they were supported by other browsers I might consider them. But they don't, so I'm not moving. :)

I have always liked Internet Explorer, if it could be called the "best browser" is shaky, but it does most everything I want it to and not what I don't. It is less stable than other browsers though, so I use Chrome as a secondary browser. I also have Firefox, but don't use it much anymore.

Lynx - the fastest web browser ever made :P

Seriously though I use Opera on my PCs, phone and tablet since it's fast, smooth and got a lot of options like syncing bookmarks, speed dial, passwords, history etc over all my devices. On slow networks Opera Turbo is very useful as well.

Though on some PCs is loads up very slowly...but Firefox does the same...on these PCs I use Chrome(ium) which is my second choice, and first choice on Linux based systems.

One for Chromium here.

Flash and Java based sites work better for me in Chrome than they do with Firefox.

Due to reasons I can only put down to programming, Firefox doesn't run as well natively in Linux. Its bulky, bloated nature also means websites load slower, and sometimes we're not talking milliseconds... we're talking several seconds upwards. I don't have this issue with Chrome, and if anything it runs better than it does in a typical Windows environment.

That's not to say I don't like Firefox, it has it's useful features and plug-ins. But as you can see below... The Linux version doesn't exactly support the minimalist look and feel that you would associate with the Windows version.

I've always used Firefox because it offers the most. But recently I've been using Chrome because it eats less system resources, and it has most of the functionality that FF has.

I was frustrated with IE6 earlier before switching to Firefox, and so far Firefox has been a safe browser most of the time. I sometimes use Chrome even though it uses less system resources, but it's too vulnerable to a spyware & malware issue(s).

Uhmm what's that supposed to mean? Firefox is way more targeted than Chrome due to the popularity of Firefox. Chrome gets patched more often as well.

Firefox because it has better addons and I don't want to switch to another browser. I got sick of Chrome and Google doing **** in the background on my PC when I specifically told it not to do a damn thing. When google is running an updater without my permission, it's time for things to go. I'm not going to put with a ****ing updater taking up an entire CPU core. I've felt much better since google's junk isn't invading my PC.

Firefox. IE is only good at downloading it.

I beg to differ. IE8 and 9 are both alright browsers if you're using them for their intended purpose, which is... you know... browsing the ****ing Internet.

I only use IE8 if something's wrong with the site and I want to check if it's global. And FF is faster and has Adblock.

Internet Explorer has adblockers too. All the arguments you can make for Firefox can mostly be said about IE so it's more about what you prefer rather than one actually being better.

Firefox. Chrome has all the addons, but I've used FF forever and like it - no reason to change. IE always seems to find a way to give me a problem; I use it once, and that's it.

I use Chrome myself. Firefox began to hang and eat tons of memory, I have no idea why. I even added NoScript, Adblock Plus, and some other addons that I thought might help, but it didn't alleviate the issue. Needless to say I'm a tab fiend (so many tabs..), but Chrome just simply handles it better.

I've heard that Firefox handles memory a lot better now, but I just haven't cared to give it a fair try again. I do like Chrome's minimal interface, even though I've heard Firefox somewhat copied it now.

I still have problems with Firefox consuming vast amounts of memory. I have enough, but it's really annoying when it gets around that 750K mark. Never goes higher unless I'm watching a Flash video. I usually have to restart the browser to clear the memory leak. Thanks to TabMix Plus, I never lose my place. However, I can say that Firefox 7 does handle that a little better, but so far, not by a whole lot.

That's odd..mine never goes above 250k unless I open 10 different flash videos or something crazy like that. Used to have the memory leak issue but it just doesn't now o_O

Kinda posted this old pic from the Pic thread. Thought might as well use it here too!

Still using FireFox. Was thinking of migrating to Google Chrome next month or so.

IE 6, just brilliant for displaying css3 and html 5

That's a joke right?

I switched to FF from IE after some security concern two or three years ago, but I'm more of a follower than a leader when it comes to this sort of thing. From this and other chatter, it does seem FF has lost it's shine, but I'm not ready to change yet. I'll wait it out.
