Do you read books?

They made Lister a 6 foot 3 blonde handsome guy which made no sense as the big joke is that the last human in existance is a small smelly ugly slob. The only laugh youll get from watching it is that the guy who plays Lister turned down the role of joey in Friends :lol: He must be kicking himself now!

 

ha ha lister is a black guy as he is played by craig charles and that guy is perfect in the role no one else could do it better :lol:

What makes it worse was Craig Charles was the only origonal cast member not to be offered the part in the american version. Not surprising as there are vry few if any US shows with the main character is Ugly.

Well in many if not all cases, the books are better than the movies. Except for a few where the movie is a must. Like Lord of the Rings. The Matrix. Terminator. StarWars. Indiana Jones. The movies were all great on those, and were a must, but the books cant be forgotten.

 

I'm betting the original series of whatever is better then an American remake.

I saw something on the news that the Catholic church wasn't very happy with the book either...

 

That means it must be good. Though I have been meaning to read the Cather and the Rye. Since I see it soo bloody often in movies and I don't know what its about. I just need to know...

I am currently reading Neil Peart's Ghost Rider and being the devout Rush fan that I am, it is one of the most touching stories I have ever read.

 

I highly recomend it to any and everyone no matter what your preference for reading. It is a good book. He has several others too: The Masked Rider

Looking for a great read? Philip Paulman's His Dark Materials. In a word: Awsome. Sure, very long, but, a massively awsome storyline. Can be pretty heart-wrenching as well. And might take up like, 2 weeks of your life. But it's a really really good series. Northern Lights, Subtle Knife, and Amber Spyglass. READ THEM! I cannot stress this enough. Haha.

I got the entire Dune series, and we got Asimov's Foundation trilogy lying around here somewhere as well.

Then of course, Lord of the Rings... the entire series, including The Hobbit & The Silmarillon. My parents have had them for decades, and I read 'em all a dozen times.

 

Don't have much else, really... well besides what's on my PC. All the works of Asimov, Douglas Adams' brilliant Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, all of Lovecraft's books as html (saved from some website), and then the Discworld books. Which I really have to read.

I am a Dune fanatic. Let me help you out here... now there are 6 books in the original series by Frank Herbert (all excellent), and the first in the series is simply called "Dune." It is followed by "Dune Messiah," "Children of Dune," "God Emperor of Dune," "Heretics of Dune," and finally "Chapterhouse: Dune." After his death, Frank Herbert's son Brian Herbert along with the help of writer Kevin Anderson wrote a series of prequels to the Dune series. These are "House Atreides," "House Harkonnen," "House Corrino," "the Butlerian Jihad," and "the Machine Crusade." These are awesome as well. It is an incredible series... the story spans tens of thousands of years, and the universe is incredibly deep. You'll love it.
