Sonic 296 Posted October 6, 2004 I know this because IBM have been working on a CPU that is aparently 5 times more powerful than the X-BOX. That was finished 3 weeks ago, and was the last component left to be built for the prototype PS3...... .......Then at E3 2005 the powerful X-BOX Killer will be unearthed, and not a moment before! Of course it will more powerful, its newer. When Microsoft release Xbox2 or XboX Next (what ever they call it) it will be bigger, faster and even more powerful. Its a never ending cycle. Who's smarter: Sony for pushing to be the first of the Next gen, or Microsoft waiting to see what Sony's doing so they can crush it with XboX Next(their working title) within a year? Microsoft are smarter in this situation, but I think its more of case of marketing these days. Why would Microsoft want to speed up the development of Xbox2 when the Xbox has so much more life in it. The PS2 reached its limits a long time ago, in my book it has anyway. Question, why do people have such a negative attitude towards the Xbox? Wait I know the answer.... because its made by Microsoft. Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted October 7, 2004 Personally I don't care, if the official X-BOX controller didn't feel like I was holding a a VHS box in my hands then maybe I would of had one of those instead. Fact is, Sony have got Ergonomic playing comfort perfect... The pad is small and perfectly formed. You don't have feel like you're carrying a heavy lunchbox in your hands with buttons on... the X-Box controller is awful, I hate it! That was quite clear, it's also one of the reasons never to buy something like a gaming console or a computer the first day it's available. Microsoft tested it and it seemed okay for the people they tested the controller with, they must all have had gigantic hands, or something else, but it was an obvious mistake, they realised it that's why they re-designed the controler and now you can only get the S-Controller(smaller, originally the Japanese version since they're smaller than americans), if that's your biggest argument against the XboX, it's long since dead. As for calling it ugly, yeah, so what? You don't have to spend another 100 bucks to get a hard drive and a network adapter. It plays bigger games, with better graphics and well, it seems better. Hell, I don't even own a console and I can see that the XboX is better than the PS2 at this point. and it's only Miocrosoft's first entry into the field, one major hiccough isn't bad at all. The PS2 is sony's second, and it's never been touted as great, just very well established with a large number of exclusive games just because its been around longer. From all the research I've done the XboX would be the better choice, but with the next gen around the corner, there isn't much point in getting one now. I'll wait for both new consoles before I get one. It just makes more sense. Although I do have a big desire to play Halo 2 and KotOR II where they're meant to be played, on the XboX. and renting just wouldn't do it. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted October 7, 2004 Bah! I still like my PS2 than that stupid bulky xbox. Besides there are a hell of a lot more games for the PS2 than the xbox. Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted October 8, 2004 Bah! I still like my PS2 than that stupid bulky xbox. Besides there are a hell of a lot more games for the PS2 than the xbox. Absolutely true, and ofcourse PS2 is cheaper. Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted October 8, 2004 ofcourse PS2 is cheaper. No, it's not. $149 US gets you an XboX, which includes the HD and ethernet functionality. $149 US still only gets you a PS2, No HD, No networking. Granted you get DVD functionality out of the box, but does it really matter that much on a gaming console? XboX is cheaper. Games and accessories cost about the same for both consoles, so you can't argue that point. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted October 8, 2004 I suppose some of us just have that alligence to Sony that we just can't ignore... Fact is that if we wanted a PC in a box, for $149, we could make our own... it runs on a 733Mhz Processor with 128MB RAM and a 128MB Geforce FX chip... some people have managed to build one up exactly like it and create Emulation Software to run the games on a PC... The Xbox is nothing special it's just an outdated PC with a very basic Kernal of Windows running inside it.... That's where I give full marks to Sony and the PS2, at least this machine was built from scratch, not some PC with software in it that some 14 year old with the knowledge to build one can create to play X-Box games on his PC That in my opinion is what seperates the 2 consoles... the difference in hard work that went into them both. Which really Microsoft hardly put any work into at all... Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted October 9, 2004 Weird, PS2 is becoming cheaper day by day here. XBox and it's games are hard to find here. PS2 is more familiar and have mroe games than XBox. ANd I don't like XBox very much, basically it's a "comp", and I already have a better "comp". Things I hate about Xbox: - Shabby looking - Not much games - It's a "comp" anyway I don't know what wil PS3 be, what I know s that PS3 will surely surpass xbox. Share this post Link to post

Gazdude 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Doom 3 is good but i still think Silent Hill is the best.... Resident Evil isnt scary at all, but i do like THE ORIGINAL story line.... Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted November 2, 2004 The fancy new slim lined PS2 looked pretty awesome. Its still the same old aging machine inside though. I'll continue to use my powerful XBOX and play Halo 2 on it Share this post Link to post
fox34343 1 Posted November 2, 2004 Its still the same old aging machine inside though. I'll continue to use my powerful XBOX and play Halo 2 on it dont gip the ps2 and i would rather wait 4 the pc halo 2. Share this post Link to post
Warmatt16 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Same here, but X-box is still pretty nice. And Halo 2 is sweet. Share this post Link to post
apocolyp4 0 Posted November 2, 2004 I own all the consoles so I get the best of all worlds except I have too much choice with Halo 2 (pre ordered) on the xbox which might just make me resubscribe to xbox live again or I might just use xbox connect like I did with the first halo. Theres also killzone and metriod prime 2 coming out at the same time not to mention half-life 2! Back to the main topic I thought AVP was scary as hell when I first played it as it did freaked me out. But the best one has to be the remake of RES for the gamecube as it aint just a simple remake as they added new monsters and the ability for hunters to smash open doors. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 3, 2004 The fancy new slim lined PS2 looked pretty awesome. Its still the same old aging machine inside though. I'll continue to use my powerful XBOX and play Halo 2 on it I said it looked pretty... You can't say that the XBOX looks very nice at all... Besides I'll be enjoying my nice new copy of San Andreas tommorrow. Resident Evil. Best storyline ever. Shame the movies are lame.. Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Question: in a fight if you had to choose between and XboX and a PS2 to bash someone over the head, which would you choose? Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 3, 2004 A PS2.... Specially the new one. You can just have it hiding in your jacket then wham out it comes. Then back in it goes.... Share this post Link to post
Phreakly 0 Posted November 3, 2004 you sure you wouldn't want the extra 10 lbs of the xbox? I'd sure take weight over concealabiltiy, besides, I'm talking about a rolling around on the ground and you come upon and xbox and a ps2 side by side, not something to carry around, that's a little crazy. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 3, 2004 Yeah well I don't really think about how I'd pumble some poor kid into to the ground with a console very often. So yeah... Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted November 3, 2004 I said it looked pretty... You can't say that the XBOX looks very nice at all... I think the XBOX looks ok. Well my one does anyway. I have the cool crystal XBOX Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 4, 2004 Bah PS2 silver one is better. The new one Share this post Link to post
apocolyp4 0 Posted November 4, 2004 The PS2 might look better especialy the platinum version but it has to be the crappiest peice of hardware ive ever bought. Im not talking about the graphic im talking about the dvd drive that fails on you after 10 months, as mine is no longer able to play cd based games (ps1) and dvd videos all I get is disc read error from them. Well at least silent hill 2 still works. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 296 Posted November 4, 2004 If Sony use their brains and release a silver version of the new slim PS2 I would probably buy one. apocolyp4, if your PS2's drive failed after 10 months can't you just get it fixed under warranty? Share this post Link to post
apocolyp4 0 Posted November 4, 2004 No as it I bought it off a friend who had it for a a few month but when the xbox came out he sold it to me. It a common problem with the PS2 which a number of people too having a similar problem I remember the creator of the Resident evil games saying the same thing about his ps2 saying he had to by a third console due to the problem. Since I have a ps1 and use my xbox as my dvd player. Share this post Link to post
fox34343 1 Posted November 4, 2004 the "disk read error problem" is only happens the older versions of ps2's. they fixed the problem with the newest generations. Share this post Link to post
