Looking for the EULA for the SDK

Recommended Posts

Hey,

think I cam across it a while back, but can't find the End User License Agreement.

Need to read the legalese to check a few things regarding IP ownership

It's not in the SDK manual I don't think.

Thanks,

-Jist

What IP ownership? Are you going to release your version of the C&C3 Mod SDK? The last time Detroy[RU] did that for C&C3 Generals Universe, his mod was deleted due to ripped content.

his mod was deleted due to ripped content.

Maybe because he didn't read the legalese of the EULA...

oh no,

Since our project is introducing 3 entirely new factions to the game, we're looking at the option to one day to go stand alone, and clip all reference to C&C, to potentially start our own IP.

Nothing will happen anytime soon, nor is this any disrespect to C&C, those who know me, know I have the utmost dedication and regard for C&C, it's just exploring options.

Is there some major issue with someone from your team doing a fresh install of the SDK? (obviously the install screens are the most likely place for the EULA).

Standalone? I haven't heard of a C&C3 modded game to go entirely standalone with its own assets until now. Well if you have the C&C3/KW SAGE source assets in addition to the C&C3/KW Mod SDK, then I think you can go for it.

Found the EULA for the World builder, is it the same for the SDK?

For some reason whenever I try and install the SDK now, it says it can't find a copy of C&C3 on my comp.

Oh,

I didn't mean making the mod into a standalone project. (The mod is going to stay as is, as a C&C3 mod.)

I meant, a different project, that retained our 3 new factions, in it of themselves, in a modern engine, and make our own IP from there, potentially with commercial intentions.

I'm trying to figure out if the EULA allows for something like that, where we remake all our art assets, and do entirely new foundation source code, with no direct relation to C&C.

We've had significant amount of contacts we've had throughout the years tell us they'd be on board, if we could pay them, and just let them know when/if it happens.

Most of us are in our mid to late 20s or older, and financial concerns are ever creeping. (for those who don't have fulfilling stable day jobs)

I'm looking into starting an LLC, for our purposes, and I'll need to know how our assets relate.

Are some of the other mod teams already registered companies of some kind, or are they just registered websites?

Any advice on how to look into and navigate these issues would be very appreciated.

If you are using a no cd/dvd fixed exe or game.dat file that can be the issue...copy the retail 1.9 files back, then use the modsdk again then re apply your no cd stuff.

Also if you are using some of the torrented iso's that come with pre installed 1.9 patches...those don't work right....had that issue a while ago because i was to lazy to look for my original cd's. Did a clean install from my original dvd, then patched to 1.9 then sdk then i did a no cd. works fine like that.

You guys are all weird installing the SDK again instead of just copying it from an older installation :D

But iirc EA made no move to own anything released as a mod, unlike other companies. If you don't include anything from their games they don't care, but if you do then all hell will break loose over you (if you are commercializing it).

My pc is like a lover, lot of good times but every now and again she loves to hurt me just to remind me never to neglect her!

I recall that some TW copies had issue with the installer while pirate ver worked just fine eh eh (my friend got it years ago and was really mad over it)

Don't recall what caused the issue though, faulty disks?

I helped him and many others friends I have which didn't want to buy the game since then with torrent versions, everything works just fine with them include SDK, it was all matter of what ver you install and if you have last patch as far as I know (hell I start using these cracks myself some years ago because putting kw or tw DVDs each time is no fun)

Do you know where I can find the legalese to support that?

As much as I do trust you ad your experience in these matters, I'll need documentation to back that up, so we can proceed properly.

The only specific lines I found regarding the issue in the "tools and materials" EULA for the world builder said we can't use anything created with the WB for commercial ends, which makes sense.

If anyone is able to paste the SDK EULA here, that may also work.

Meanwhile, I'll keep trying to fiddle with installing the SDK (to try and read teh full EULA)
