Azrael 0 Posted November 7, 2004 Hey, any of you guys seen the Cronosphere's side-effects in RA1? Share this post Link to post
Koen 2 Posted November 7, 2004 You mean the big vortex? Yes I have Can't remember if that was before or after editing Rules.ini though. Share this post Link to post
Warmatt16 0 Posted November 7, 2004 Before, I had the vortex many times before editing anything. I always lucked out and it appeared over the enemies base. Except once, then over mine. Very Bad! Evil Vortex! I named it Bob. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 8, 2004 Yeah those vortex's were bloody nasty little buggers... Main reason why I avoided use of the Chronosphere at any time. Heck that useless thing caused more trouble than it sovled! Besides you couldn't really do much damage sending 1 lone tank into the fray. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted November 8, 2004 It was better used on Cruisers. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 8, 2004 Yeah you're right but not that many maps had water on em'. Share this post Link to post
fox34343 1 Posted November 8, 2004 I avoided use of the Chronosphere aswell. Share this post Link to post
cnc_sage 0 Posted November 10, 2004 Can you describe this Chrono vortex? I didn't play RA to much. Do the appear when you chronoshift? Does the vortex erase units and buildings? And if possible can you show me a screenshot of the vortex? Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted November 11, 2004 This "vortex" looks like a giant ball, distorting the areas it touch & shoots out a short-range tesla bolt that has the color yellow. Get in the range of this "vortex" and a single tesla bolt will kill your unit. To avoid this, don't use the Chronosphere. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 11, 2004 Yeah its a big black killing blob. If you're real lucky it'll sit round your enemies base. If you're not. then say bye bye. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted November 12, 2004 It usually appeard at the coast on maps with water. Or sometimes away from our bases. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted November 12, 2004 I never got it to appear very often. Then again, I didn't use it that often. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted November 12, 2004 It has 3 purposes. 1: Kill & wipe you out. 2: As an obstacle to avoid! 3: Help you kill the enemy. Share this post Link to post
Azrael 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Problem is, it dosen't care about killing your units as much as it does on enemy units. Kepp your units away from that vortex. Share this post Link to post
Malebranche 0 Posted November 14, 2004 I once saw it in the sea. I thought it was a whirlpool, later I learnt about the vortex. I just kept distance and it wasn't a menace. Share this post Link to post
GeneralZ 0 Posted November 17, 2004 how does it disappear? once, i had a few units force fire on it and it disappeard. usually it disappears by itself Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 17, 2004 I don't think shooting at it really helps.... Try nuking it. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted November 17, 2004 yeah, shooting it did nothing- they kinda moved in and out of the map. wasn't there also a "time quake" or something like that? another disaster associated with the chronosphere? I swear I remember something like that... Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 17, 2004 What the hell was a time quake? Or do u mean that little shockwave when a M.A.D tank detonanted? Share this post Link to post
Nyerguds 102 Posted November 17, 2004 The effect of a Time Quake is about the same as that of the MAD tank, only the effect occurs over the entire map. This effect is apparently incredibly rare... I've never seen it myself. The Chronal Vortex looks like a big lens movine over the map. Back when RA came out I saw my game speed drop to zero when it appeared on my screen because of the processing power it took from my 486 Share this post Link to post
