Yes, I live in Indonesia. It's real bad. The casualities is unknown until now, but the government said that the minimum caualities is 3000. And some people said it's around 15000 people. The Aceh and North Sumatera suffers the greatest casualities by far. The scientist said that this will last long for 20 more years to the future. And some of the scientist said that 8.9 richter earthquake is just the beginning of something real bad. If this is true, I will get out from this country, and move somewhere else which safer.

This isn't good, if the tsunami reached the Java Island, I will be dead meat. How the hell I gonna save all of my work. And, my New Years Eve party will surely be canceled since me and my friends were planning to have a party at the beach at new years eve. I hate this. I guess, I will only have a family reunion again, with boring adult talks and stupid cousins.

This tragedy is the headlines on every news. Lots of people died, and not buried because the limited access to North Sumatera and Aceh. Indonesian navy is crumbled, lots of soldier died. The fate of west Indonesia is unclear. I hope this stupid tsunamy won't reach Java.

And woopsy, don't make us wrong, it's not us who cause it, it's the damn plates.

what a horrible tragedy.... our thoughts and prayers are with the many victims

man, earthquakes are scary. I remember being in what was I think about a 7 in the San Fernando Valley out in California (Los Angeles). It demolished a good part of the city, and I remember waking up in the middle of the night bouncing on the floor with the walls cracking and furniture flying all over the place... gas lines broke and parts of the street started shooting out flames. Freaky stuff... I can only imagine what the 8.9 must have been like, plus the tsunami.

We at the Phillipines could have been hit by the tsunami, as Indonesia nad Phils. are close to each other.

Yeh, they say it was so big that it disturbed the rotation of the earth.

That does add up a bit, since the weather report was off after the quake...

What do you mean by that? Aren't your work with you on the PC?

Anyway its good to see you safe, when I first heard of it, I thought you might be a casualty.

It moved a seismographic needle under Central Park in NY

You live in NY, Hans5849? Which borough?

Moving a seismograph and feeling a quake are very different things. Seismographs are extremely sensitive so they would be able to pick a quake up you could not feel.

Nope, I guess I was modding ZH too serious, so I didn't feel any earthquake, lol. And I'm safe here, thanks for your attention. The Java Island only got a small earthquake. Thanks to Sumatera, the Java Island is protected.

lol, I have an important project which is 2 years old, if I lost all of the things I have done for this project, I'm dead. Anyway, incase if there is another tsunami, I have my portable anti-water hardisk protector, so I can carry it with me if there is another tsunami hit Java.

It's been clarificated now, the total casualities in Indonesia is more than 70000. Indonesia suffered the biggest casuality by far. More than 500 of them are Indoesian infantries who are guarding the North Sumatera and Aceh from the separatist. I hope the separatist won't use this condition to attack.

Well, the side effect of this tragedy is, to show the solidarity of the Indonesian there is no city New Years Eve Party, all official NYE party has been canceled, some hotels also canceled their NYE pary. And my family too canceled the family party, some of us who live in Java go to the North Sumater to help the people there. This is sucks maybe, but how come I'll be partying after all of this tragedy. I will just wait for next year for the beach party.

There's a difference between being paranoid and being prepared... geez. If I were in J-Fire's position I'd have one too. What's up with you calling people paranoid? It's just a freakin' plastic case!

I'm not being a paranoid you moron  I'm preventing my data loss. There is an important project in my hardisk. And I don't want to upload my data to the internet, internet is a dangerous place, who knows what will it be. It will be safer if I have my data right in my hand palm, under the protection of the great J-Fire_Man. I'm the best protector for my own data :)

Ohh and by the way, this one isn't an ordinary plastic case, this one is anti-impact too :D I tried to smash my old hardisk which is inside the protector, I threw it away around 2 meters, and then I tried to connect it to my comp, and I saw no damage to the data inside :) A pretty good HD protector for quite a price. And it's custom made
