Somebody called me a white craker at school the other day.

I alomst laughed, cept there were about 4 guys next to the kid who did it, so I just walked away

People make a big deal when the N word is used (Rhymes with wigger) yet when it is turned around against "white" people, its ignored and even accepted.

Society is so messed up these days. :?

Whites wanting to be black, blacks wanting to be whites, yellows wanting to be red, and reds wanting to take over the world...cawazy

are you white?...then your not going to adopt it....and i jus use these words cuz there isnt anything else noone would understand......

i didnt mean you shouldnt do anything that isnt considered 'white'....i just meant that wiggers are completely off..they dress, talk, act, eat, sleep, and think black...or at least they try to...be the stereotypical black guy....

i mean you guys should see this guy in my neighborhood that thinks he black...or maybe he denies that but if you met em you'd say "wow this guy is such a wigger"...even if you were against the term

people need to be themselves and not those who they arent. Its very plain and simple. I dont see why they dont. Childhood abuse maybe, but most arent victims of that, so.....whats the point of acting "black" when you're not? Or vice versa?

EDIT: I'm allowed to say it at work. I work with a ton of black guys and they like me cause I'm funneh. ;)

I've got a legitimate question here.

What do you see in rap? Why do you listen to it? What do you like about it? What part of rap gets you to like it?

Just currious BTW, none of that is accusatory in any way, shape, or form.

What do you see in rap? Why do you listen to it? What do you like about it? What part of rap gets you to like it?

WHAT DO I SEE?

i see poetry and expression..even some gangster rap..those rappers are expressiing hardships in their lives...i like how rap isn't sang like other music genre's...its usually monotone-like and that adds to the poetic element..(free verse)..it also helps make the lyrics more clear and intense

what i see in the instrumentals is a unique way of mixing sounds..some of my fav rap songs have jazz elements...blue's elements....and we should all know why jazz and blues are great

WHY DO I LISTEN TO IT?

because i like it..simply.....i remember first hearing it..not sure what it was about it but i liked it....i liked the instrumental bass-filled, bold beats.......and i liked the cocky and rebellious lyrics...

WHAT DO I LIKE ABOUT IT?

i answered this sorta.....^/^......but ill add that it just 'touches' my musical soul if you will....not that its the only type of music that does that.....but the music a person likes just touches them..taps into and sooths their emotions and motives as well as their perspective(rite?)

WHAT PART OF RAP GETS ME TO LIKE IT?

well again....that it's strong...upbeat or downbeat seems to move me....any music positive or negative sympathizes with my mood..also, its nice to know that tthere are people out there experiencing things that you do too

8) does that hit the spot?

i mean you guys accuse rap of being overly simplistic, shallow, and ridiculous..claiming its not music because of that too..

why do natives in countries like the simple music they make? with drums and bongos and what not...

Are you ****ting me? You can't be serious.

What a load of rubbish. I realize it's your opinion but holy ****, PUT DOWN THE BONG! I'll give you expression but I flat refuse to call that mockery poetic or "intense." Unless by intense you mean craptacular. Calling rap poetry is an insult to actual poets.

If you're not singing, it doesn't count. I can speak in a monotone voice, too. That takes NO TALENT. Back in the day, I listened to Eminem and I could rap right along with him. Does that make me a rapper, too?

what i see in the instrumentals is a unique way of mixing sounds..some of my fav rap songs have jazz elements...blue's elements....and we should all know why jazz and blues are great

Yes, jazz and blues are great. I have a fondness for each. However, saying rap "mixes" them is not only an insult to great jazz and blues musicians, it's a complete mockery of what jazz and blues truly mean.

Stop eating schrooms and listen to music that has heart and soul, not rap. Rap is a mockery of the music industry. It's like that uncle you don't want anything to do with but you do anyway, even if it's a bad idea.

You can say the same thing about my love of heavy metal. However, there's a few key differences between rap and metal: heavy metal band members play instruments themselves, sing their own lyrics and have actual talent. Rappers do one out of those three, and that just don't cut it.

now this is a PRIME EXAMPLE OF YOUR IGNORANCE....you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RAP...so why 'open your mouth'? ive defined real rap NUMEROUS TIMES...and this topic is about rap...do all of you have to ruin it with your ineffectual opinions.?

rap poetry is an insult to actual poets

However, saying rap "mixes" them is not only an insult to great jazz and blues musicians, it's a complete mockery of what jazz and blues truly mean

ok we all know alot of rap uses sampling or original sounds...have you heard any rap songs with jazz in them? blues? no...thats because you are , like you accuse BWare of being, PREJUDICE and DISCRIMINATORY...apparently....i'll AGAIN name examples of rappers that use jazz/blues in their songs....common/kanye west/talib/mos def/papoose/nas*...and how would you know what the true meaning of jazz/blues is? you dont even see the poetry in rap..

FENRING YOU REALLY DISSAPPOINT ME WHEN YOU SPEAK IN IGNORANCE!

*sigh* You disappoint me without even trying. You think I speak in ignorance but I really don't. I'm not an aficiando but I do listen to the old school stuff now and then. You know, the good stuff from the 80s and early 90s.

IM GOING TO MAKE ONE RESPONSE AND NOT GOING TO ARGUE AFTER THAT BECAUSE YOU ARE PETULANT WHEN IT COMES TO UNDERSTANDING ANYTHING BESIDES WHAT YOU KNOW...

Everyone is petulant whent it comes to their own understanding. You're just being all pissy because I don't agree with you.

now this is a PRIME EXAMPLE OF YOUR IGNORANCE....you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RAP...so why 'open your mouth'? ive defined real rap NUMEROUS TIMES...and this topic is about rap...do all of you have to ruin it with your ineffectual opinions.?

Don't say I know nothing. You presume to know that, when in fact you know very little about me. Instead of attacking my intelligence, how about you try counterpointing me?

If by ruin you mean me disagreeing, then yes, we will ruin it.

are you a poet? do you know the elemts of poetry?

iambic pentameter, hexameter, and all that..? have you listened to anything underground? any Talib Kweli or Common? even NAS??????????

No, I'm not a poet. However, I do understand the elements and the rhythm is not the key. It's the emotion that it's supposed to convey that truly matters. Modern rap is bull**** when it comes to that. I have to say modern since the old-school stuff is actually good.

More appropriately, do I want to listen to the underground? The answer would be a gritty, in your face no.

DO YOU want me to define music again?..i'll spare you..

o and eminem isnt a prime example exatcly...AND I'D LOVE for you to even TRY and come close to eminem's 'rapping' skills....

I don't want you to define anything since I don't care. Besides, I said I could do it with him, not actually make my own **** up. I'm not going any further into it.

ok we all know alot of rap uses sampling or original sounds...have you heard any rap songs with jazz in them? blues? no...thats because you are , like you accuse BWare of being, PREJUDICE and DISCRIMINATORY...apparently....i'll AGAIN name examples of rappers that use jazz/blues in their songs....common/kanye west/talib/mos def/papoose/nas*...and how would you know what the true meaning of jazz/blues is? you dont even see the poetry in rap..

I'm not against rap, nor do I care if you like it. I like some of it so there can't be that much prejudice. However, EVERYONE has prejudice within them. You can't tell me that you like the same music I do or see the same things that I do.

There's a big difference between blues/jazz and rap. Blues and jazz are great styles of music and have been for decades. Blues and jazz are meant to evoke powerful emotions and make you discover the meaning on your own.

once again drugs is being used as a scapegoat for my so-called 'mockery' of music...dude, your making a mockery of human judgement/criticism.......

Just wow. When I thought it couldn't get any stupider, it does. How the hell am I making a mockery of human judgment and criticism? What? Because I disagree with you, it's a mockery? However, don't think that rap is the only genre of music on my ****list. I hate several more and hate them more than any rap. One word: pop. That just sends shivers down my spine.

i get a feeling that i sound like BWare when i say
I MUST STRESS AGAIN
that you all not speak in ignorance...and keep your mundane, unintelligent, unoriginal, pretentious, condescending, arrogant-minded, even presumptuous claims....to either yourselves or each other

Stringing together a few unrelated, intelligent sounding words doesn't make your case any stronger. I don't speak in the knowlegde you have but I speak of my own opinion and understanding. And naturally, you'd see it as all of the above, which is understandable but that doesn't mean it's truth. If you can't handle my opinion, tough ****. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't sugarcoat my thoughts and you get everything I have to say in unadulterated form.

i overracted...but

I'm not an aficiando but I do listen to the old school stuff now and then. You know, the good stuff from the 80s and early 90s

the old stuff isn't the only good stuff...and this is why i called you ignorant...because your insulting modern rap without "caring" or knowing about it enough to make a claim that its CRAP...just next time please specify with a "i think"

You're just being all pissy because I don't agree with you

i was being pissy...but it wasn't because i disagree with you...its because me and mad where enjoying this topic and then you along with some others come in and begin the bashing...there is no exscaping....so uncompromising its infuriating...you would like it either

ALSO...like i said you people criticize modern rap without knowledge of the good stuff..then defend yourselves with "i dont care either" which shows more that you shouldnt be claiming anything about rap

It's the emotion that it's supposed to convey that truly matters. Modern rap is bull**** when it comes to that. I have to say modern since the old-school stuff is actually good.

well i said that if you want to say something like this do it in a position that is deserving...you shouldnt be able to make these claims without knowing the whole story...i mean come on that's not ignorance?

you said it yourself that you dont know much about rap and that you dont want to..so why come in this topic and crash the party if you dont care about rap? we all know you hate it...you dont need to remind us....

..there is rap that conveys emotion...even crappy rap DOES do that...but you wouldnt know that... :(

Blues and jazz are meant to evoke powerful emotions and make you discover the meaning on your own.

all music is basically meant to do this...and rap is, within the definition, MUSIC! ........especially since it evokes, more than often angry, emotions......

How the hell am I making a mockery of human judgment and criticism? What? Because I disagree with you, it's a mockery?

your making a mockery because you are doing it within ignorance and insensitivity...you arent sensitive to the fact that rap can be good music....you are the one making statements that are one-sided

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't sugarcoat my thoughts and you get everything I have to say in unadulterated form.

neither do i...usually...but you are a mod...and i dont want to insult you totally.. 8)

"Ah yes...the Negotiator..."

I'll take rap over "pop" anyday of the week.

Rap "rhythms" - pardon me for saying, but being severely imersed in Jazz, Blues, and Rock, the term Rhythms usually implies a drummer or percusionists. Computers, no matter how good, will never be able to mimic the versatality of a percussionist. In rap I see an oversimplified beat that doest draw from the overall sound, "stealing" the spotlight. Nor do I see it contributing much though...

I guess my biggest issue with rap is the content, the whole air around it. I flip on MTV and what do I see? A rapper with 14 strippers around him while he "sings". Yeah. Woo.....It may take talent to write the actual pieces, but personally, getting harmony and melody into rock (and other genres) takes a hell of a lot more work and effort that picking up a thesaurus and seeing what words rhyme with "(%&" and "*(%#5". If you know what I mean....

Finally, objectification of women in rap is soo much worse than it ever has been in rock or any of its "lesser" (and I dont mean lower quality, its a heirarchy thing) forms. That and actual instrumentation.

I like the old stuff. I dislike the new so naturally I'm not going to care about it. I say it's crap cause that's my opinion. You like it and that's fine but I'm going to give you my opinion on the matter.

i was being pissy...but it wasn't because i disagree with you...its because me and mad where enjoying this topic and then you along with some others come in and begin the bashing...there is no exscaping....so uncompromising its infuriating...you would like it either

Don't expect a topic like rap to stay peaceful for long. Many of here don't like it much, if at all, so we're going to state our thoughts.

ALSO...like i said you people criticize modern rap without knowledge of the good stuff..then defend yourselves with "i dont care either" which shows more that you shouldnt be claiming anything about rap

Modern rap has little good stuff. I'll give you a few songs but very few are winners. Rap is one of those genres that has a specific fanbase and doesn't appeal to others.

well i said that if you want to say something like this do it in a position that is deserving...you shouldnt be able to make these claims without knowing the whole story...i mean come on that's not ignorance?

you said it yourself that you dont know much about rap and that you dont want to..so why come in this topic and crash the party if you dont care about rap? we all know you hate it...you dont need to remind us....

Then what is the whole story? A gang shooting? Drugs?

No, I don't know much and could care less about it. However, that doesn't mean I don't know anything at all. I know enough but could care less one way or the other. Besides, it doesn't take much to use Wikipedia and Google.

Okay, I'll give you that. Rap invokes emotion even if it is angry, violent emotion.

all music is basically meant to do this...and rap is, within the definition, MUSIC! ........especially since it evokes, more than often angry, emotions......

It's music by definition but not by popular opinion.

your making a mockery because you are doing it within ignorance and insensitivity...you arent sensitive to the fact that rap can be good music....you are the one making statements that are one-sided

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I guess you totally omitted my appreciation for 80s rap. Nice work.

Do you honestly expect someone to make statements that aren't one-sided? My opinion is my own so naturally it's one sided and suited for me. Your opinion is one-sided as well.

neither do i...usually...but you are a mod...and i dont want to insult you totally.. 8)

I won't campaign to have you banned if you keep it within reason. I can take a little abuse... I take it work all day long. >_>
