Roundtable Discussion #2: CNCNZ.com 10th Anniversary Edition

Recommended Posts

A few days later than I originally planned but, Roundtable Discussion #2, a special CNCNZ.com 10th Anniversary edition, is now available. Participating this month is myself, Saracen, Zee Hypnotist, Lion from CNC Den, Banshee from PPM, Chickendippers from CNC World and Luk3us. And we also have invited our community manager, APOC to participate in this one as well.

It makes for some interesting reading. Some of it can be considered a trip down memory lane. Click here to check out. The December edition of the Roundtable Discussion will return to using the news headlines as a basis for the questions.

I think it was Saracen who sent me a love letter in the mail initially, it's a bit blurry, but I think I have that in my files somewhere. For his sake, I will keep it hidden.

LOLWUT? Now I want to see it. :haha:

Gj Sonic and others, another great discussion.

Lion thought you were a Brit? I mean it's CNCNZ.com but maybe it was a typo for Saracen or something? :P

So far, I believe this round table discussion is having a great turnout! I'm glad to see the participation. :P

Most people in the C&C community don't know about the uprising of APOC, and how I came to be in this honorable seat of community power (and nobody knows the mystery behind my handle as well, not yet at least).

I always thought your nick came from Apoc in The Matrix, isn't that true?

Anyways, great discussion.

Rather good discussion, just sad not see any thanks to members,

Been around the community since Tiberiumsun.com existed under countless names, and I have to say that the community wouldn't be that "big" without all the members through the time :/

Well that was not intentional I can assure you. Support from forum members and visitors to the site is extremely important to us.

Well the people who commented in CNC Den's news comments here http://www.cncden.com/index.php?subaction=...tart_from=& think that Roundtable Discussion #2 is nothing but a CNCNZ.com ego-fest or ego boosting.

Apparently, and I quote......

No offense, but other...better sites like CNCDEN or PlanetCNC don't go around pulling that ****.

I sometimes wonder why I bother doing anything. You try different things on website and all people can do is criticise and not offer anything constructive

So I ask you, do you feel that Roundtable #2 is an ego-fest or ego boosting?

Well of course its going to be mainly about CNCNZ when its the CNCNZ 10th Anniversary Edition. My guess is either these guys are stupid or they are people that already have a grudge against the site for some other reason and are looking for any chance they can get to put it down.

Why would it be?

We celebrate CnCNZ 10th year of existence, of course we therefore mention the site as well. If we can enjoy a site for such a long time, why cant we listen to the background, impact and the contributors of the site for a second?*shakes head*

That is what im going to post on cncden as well.

Oh and please dont let your heart being pulled down by trolls. Theyre everywhere, spreading their negativity...and should be shot...or ignored, since theyre complete disregarding imbeciles.

Rather see that the loyal fanbase appreciates your work, right now your site is the most recent.

Wouldn't say CNCDEN or PlantCNC is better.

Apparently their morale is just a bit lower then.

CNCNZ deserves a celebration, and a talk between the moderators on how they relly feel about CNCNZ after all these years.

If they can't live with that, then that's their problem.

let's just be carefull we don't end up in a flame war.

LMAO... Sonic, don't worry. If they really do hate the site its because they envy the hard work that you have put into everything. I'm sorry, but this is just absolutely ludicrous...

Well, to be honest, on that posting there were only like 2 or 3 people who honestly had disapproving intentions...

Don't let it get to you Sonic, believe me, I know the feeling. You guys are doing amazing work here and the boys who run CNCDEN and PCNC (Lion, Hex, Steppo, Dario, etc), they all respect you to the utmost, and that matters a helluva lot more than a couple of noobs bashing in their comments section for no good reason. People always like to stir the pot.

Its roundtables like these that show true passion and dedication to the C&C community. I think you've pleased 99%. There is always the 1% who will do anything to crash the party and disagree.

Keep up the great work and keep up the round-tables!

I try to not let these things get to me but when people criticise something with the CNCNZ.com name on it annoys me. This sort of attitude is what I referred to in an old blog post, Why is this Community so Negative.

However when I get feedback from people I know, our loyal visitors, guys like APOC, Lion and Banshee I take it all seriously. In other other words I should only be listening to people I respect.

I think its damn clear that those people who criticised Roundtable #2 didn't read the whole thing, didn't know what it was focused on CNCNZ.com or didn't even bother to check out the first one

Criticised? Dam, i think the Roundtable concept was awesome, i love it!

I dont know why no one else thought of something similar...

I wish one day i could take part, but first i have to make a name for myself

Yawn, those are people? I thought those were just unimportant background noises, Sonic, you should know better than to listen to background noise. :)

Disheartening to read those comments. But it's like, who cares? If they don't like it, they don't have to read it. Jeez.

I'm putting the call out anyone wanting to have go in future editions of the Roundtable. I'm also looking for suggestions on questions to be used. Check the to 2 sticky topic in the Site & Forum Related Discussion forum.

It's a shame you were sucked into responding to the negative criticism on the Lion's page, Sonic. This was the opportunity for Lion to smack down, and the rest of us to step up... rather than you dirtying your hands. Of course I understand how defensive we can all get over any criticism of our work.

Clearly those comments are from people unfamiliar with this site, and don't appreciate the milestone.

.

.

.

However, apart from some *small* conflict around Saracen in this community, it didn't really come across as a very diverse discussion. For instance *everyone* talking about the momental 10th anniversary.

Maybe you could try for more divisive questions, or panelists with known differences on particular subjects? I'm thinking -- I.D.I.C. (ala star trek here).

I'm not looking for a flamewar, just a stimulating discussion which either delves into preciously unexplored territory or expressing alternative viewpoints and interpretations on past, present and future events... and unfortunately I can't think of a good subject/question to start off with!

So anyway, it's the last thing people say that is remembered -- so congratulations on sticking with it; congratulations on doing it well; and congratulations on still trying to do it better.

:10:
